Kel the Guardsman |

Kel drops Radiance and rolls on his feet, stunned.
Don't mind me, I'll just be here doing nothing, right in the way of everything.

Rex Kayn |

Rex Round 5
A few moments later the burning subsides, the smell of burnt hair and flesh hover still lingers in the air.
"Well I guess I don't need a haircut now,"Rex says with a grimace.
He then tries to fight through the pain while reloading his pistol.

Combat Over!

Ausk the Heathenbane |

This was your choice bub. I told ya to surrender. Ausk says as he turns to look over Anevia. Are you harmed Lady?

Kel the Guardsman |

Kel shakes his head, and blinks until the blindness fades. He rubs his temples. "Ow. Everyone alright? Sorry about that. They got the drop on me."

"Anevia Tirablade" |

Shaking herself out of her dazed state, Anevia answers Kel's question. "I should be fine. That first bug just got a good piece of me there."
She takes a good look at the orc that's lying bleeding on her bedroom floor. "I recognize him. Vagorg, a small time of a jack of all trades in the underworld here. Irabeth arrested him a few years ago, and he held a grudge. He thought she should have let him go; something about her not honoring her racial heritage. Guess this was his attempt at revenge."

"Anevia Tirablade" |

"Give me a minute to check our emergency nook. If Irabeth is alive she'll have left a note telling me where to meet her."" she says as she walks to the back of the room and starts feeling around on the headboard of the bed. With a quick knock a small door opens and Anevia reaches inside. When she pulls her hand back out she brings with it a small leather bag.
"I knew it! She's alive!" she exclaims as she pulls a small note from the bag. "The note says 'Defender's Heart. Silverstrong.' So it looks like we had the right idea. There's also a few potions in here. A couple healing draughts and some invisibility potions."

Why wait. Lets get these people back to the Heart asap.

Wand: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (7) + 11 = 18
Ranseur: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (10) + 11 = 21
"This wand fires missiles of force. I may have use for it," concludes Max, tucking it away. "As for this weapon, it is enchanted to strike harder, to disarm opponent's weapons, and even to harden one's skin. It appears very versatile."

The Unruly GM |

Sorry! Got a bit busy at work, and posting on my phone takes a good bit more time than posting using a PC. Then I got caught up in some other stuff at home.
Ok, so, moving onward since everyone is ready to leave...
The wind continues to gust and blow, as the clouds spit thunder and lightning down onto the already shattered city. The humid air is thick to the point of feeling as though you're drowning with each breath. Again Anevia takes the lead, picking her way through the rubble-lined streets and damaged buildings as she takes you from her home towards Defender's Heart.

The Unruly GM |

Another couple streets up and you can see Defender's Heart. The massive 4-story inn looms over the surrounding buildings like a fortress, though it's certainly seen better days. A chasm in the earth, not unlike the one that started your journey, has opened its maw directly beside the huge structure and looks to have wrapped itself around two sides. It would seem that sheer luck is what has saved the building, and though the chasm is a hazard it also serves as a defense from ground assaults on those sides that it nearly swallowed. The many windows on the lower levels of the structure have been hastily boarded up, while the upper windows all have their shutters drawn partially closed in a uniform fashion.
The clouds decide that now is finally the time to release their payload. All of the building sound and fury did indeed signify something, and the drowning feeling of the humid air is instantly replaced by a heavy downpour and the drowning feeling of an oppressive storm. The combined efforts of the storm's thunder, wind, and rain work to drown out all but their own voices.

Maximillian Akorius |

Max invokes some minor magics, attempting to keep himself dry in the downpour. He peers at the windows of the boarded up building, trying to see if he can see eyes returning his gaze. Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10.
"Well, they probably can't hear us," shouts Max over the rain. "Anyone see signs of people inside? We should approach cautiously, maybe carry a white flag."

Ausk the Heathenbane |

I'll go. Ausk says as he walks slowly towards the building his hands out, palms turned up. Hello in there!

The Unruly GM |

Due to the storm, all perception checks are at a -8 penalty, and all ranged attacks are impossible. Not that any ranged combat is coming, but I figured I should make it known anyway.
The storm continues to beat and batter you with hard rain and driving wind, soaking you through and through as Ausk makes his approach. Nobody appears to be outside, but the thick sheet of rain makes it hard to see more than a few yards in front of you with any certainty.
You are approx. 100ft from the building.

The Unruly GM |

Forgot to mention in my last post and wayfinder doesn't let me edit. If you approach, please tell me how far forward you're moving. I'll have to modify DCs and reactions based on your distance from the building.

The Unruly GM |

Tina, you forgot the -8 penalty to that perception check. You would have only seen the troops, not that they were yelling.

Ausk the Heathenbane |

Perception: 1d20 + 8 - 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 - 8 = 8
Ausk continues forward, oblivious due to the howling wind and rain.

The Unruly GM |

About how far forward are you moving, Ausk? Maximum of up to your speed.

Ausk the Heathenbane |

Yeah, walking slow not running. So I guess one move action?

Kel the Guardsman |

Kel knows better than to approach. If the defenders recognized him as devil-blooded before they got a chance to identify themselves, he's probably get shot at. It had happened before. This storm would probably keep him from sprouting crossbow bolts. That was a plus at least.
He waited as Ausk scouted ahead. Hopefully he would be able to speak with the guards and vouch for the group.

The Unruly GM |

No one else is moving up with Ausk?

Ausk the Heathenbane |

Perception: 1d20 + 8 - 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 - 8 = 1
Not hearing them, Ausk continues forward his holy symbol being held high.
I cannot hear you, my name is Ausk, I serve Lady Irabeth and the Eagle Knights! he shouts.

Ausk the Heathenbane |

Put that contraption away. Ausk says gruffly to Rex as the wind continues to howl and the rain drops from his face. They ain't foes, I don't think anyways.

Of course they do. Now let me in! I'm bringing civilians

The Unruly GM |

Ausk, you forgot the penalty due to the storm. You only heard what's in the first perception spoiler.

Ausk the Heathenbane |

Yeah sorry, wasn't sure what penalty to apply as I've moved closer. Still, Ausk is moving forward. He doesn't remember what Anevia said at her house.
