No, it doesn't matter beyond bonuses and rewards for rescuing them. However, the mod specifically says, and I quote:

"Although he's an arrogant,self-important nobleman with a grating personality, abandoning him to his fate would be an evil act."

When I allowed the demon summoner, I thought Feral would play him a bit less gritty, surrounded as he is by people who should be very uncomfortable with demons in general, especially no one has spellcraft to understand that feral is the demon's master, and not the other way around.

If they want to be treated like important NPCs they should act like important NPCs and not entitled PCs.

I'm going to make a quick apology. I'm an experienced society GM, but this is the first time I'm running an AP mod, and I haven't deviated from the mod's given personalities or instructions much. I also haven't fleshed out the NPCs as much as I would have liked. I'm still learning your preferences for what everyone wants out of the adventure. Please forgive my mistakes.

Varda does have Spellcraft, but I feel no need to use it: she's already examined them both and found them to not have evil intentions. She's watching them warily, but with the understanding that she doesn't fully understand what's going on.

I think aesthetics are important. It's awesome that this AP is about us being bad-asses, but I think also think us being badasses isn't much of a story without some good aesthetics and themes. I support you fleshing out the NPCs as much as you need for them to feel like fully realized characters in your mind. That will make it easier for them to be realized in ours.

Though I do feel your pain over the fact that only one of the PCs is good aligned. The majority of the party is rather gritty if not outright jerks. Were I one of these NPCs I would be freaked out by someone summoning something that looks like a demon, and when question about what he thinks he is doing he responds with, basically, "eat a dick."

Going to be afk for an hour or two. I got a headache from staring at my computer too much.

I'd like to ask people to please sign off on who gets what magic items in the wealth & xp tracking spreadsheet. When you consume a potion or use a scroll, delete the item from the tracking sheet. If you sell something, delete it from the tracking sheet and add half its value to a blank cell in the "Gold found" column. If you purchase an item, put in what you bought and how much gold you spent in the item crafted/purchased and how much you bought it for, and similarly put the item you bought and its base value in the appropriate column. This helps me keep track of who has what consumable or magic item, lets me make sure that you are not too far behind the wealth per level curve, and for the most part automates the process so I don't need to be involved much. Thanks.

Aenthurien was studying the spellbook before Na'shok's summoning. Was he able to see what spells were in there? He has Read Magic as a SLA/day

I didn't think it mattered because you guys don't have a wizard, Magus, or alchemist.

blur, levitate, color spray, mage armor, magic missile, detect secret doors, fog cloud, grease, invisibility, resist energy, shocking grasp, silent image.

AC29/T18/F21/CMD30||HP121[121]F:+8 R:+21 W:+12|Init.+14|Percept.+18(+24 traps) Elf (Snowcaster) Investigator 13 / Mythic 6

An Investigator can learn from a wizard's spellbook like an Alchemist.

Source?

AC29/T18/F21/CMD30||HP121[121]F:+8 R:+21 W:+12|Init.+14|Percept.+18(+24 traps) Elf (Snowcaster) Investigator 13 / Mythic 6

From the Playtest Document,

Advanced Class Guide Playtest wrote:
An investigator can also add formulae to his book just like a wizard adds spells to his spellbook, using the same costs, pages, and time requirements. A formula book costs as much as a spellbook. An investigator can study a wizard’s spellbook to learn any formulae that is equivalent to a spell the spellbook contains. A wizard, however, cannot learn spells from a formula book. An investigator can also learn formulae from another investigator’s or an alchemist’s formula book (and vice versa). An investigator does not need to decipher arcane writing before copying them.

Ah. OK. Its annoying because there is a rogue investigator archetype. I didn't know you were using the playtest. You are good then.

Oh, sorry about that. Yeah it looks like Aenthurien can copy- Detect Secret Doors, Blur, Levitate, Invisibility, Resist Energy.

Total cost would be 170 gp to transcribe. Aenthurien's spellcraft is +6, so I guess he just learn DSD for now.

It takes time, too.

Your party didn't take the time to rest yet, so you can't copy DSD into your book yet.

Anyone else having trouble with Roll20? I can access other Roll20 games.

I didn't write the mod. Clerics of Baphomet and Deskari using their deity's favored weapon.

DM, how concerned are you about carrying capacity? If I take the MW chain shirt, I'm 4 pounds over. :(

Div-Spawn Ninja 3 HP: 27/27; AC: 18, T: 13, FF: 15; Fort: +3, Ref: +6, Will: +2; Init: +5, Perception +6

Carrying stuff is what NPCs are for! Get them to hold some of your stuff.

That's the problem, it's pretty much all necessary stuff!

Weapons and Armor:
MW chain shirt (25lbs)
composite (+1) longbow (3lbs)
arrows x11 (1.65lbs)
arrows, blunt x20 (3lbs)
arrows, alchemical silver x19 (3lbs)
guisarme (12lbs)
dagger (.5lb)
sap (2lbs)

Magic Items:
Cloudwalking scale

Various:
monk's outfit (2lbs)
alchemist's fire (1lb)
holy water (1lb)

Do you really need the guisarme?

Div-Spawn Ninja 3 HP: 27/27; AC: 18, T: 13, FF: 15; Fort: +3, Ref: +6, Will: +2; Init: +5, Perception +6

You don't need the guisarme. We have enough melee.

Female Human Paladin (Holy Tactician) 14 [ HP 137/140 (0 NL) | AC 35 Tch 18 FF 30 | Fort +18 Ref +16 Will +20 | CMD 37 | Init +10 | Perc +12 | 13/13 LoH | 12/15 Mythic | Effects: 1 str damage, 6 cha damage ]

But what if... what if I neeeed it!?!

Fine, fine... the NPCs can carry the guisarme...

I'm writing up the new bow, but it is meant for the paladin. The mod is giving a paladin specific weapon here, but it was designed for a melee paladin. I have to figure out some personal business before I can do major writeups though...

Until I finish the writeup, treat the bow as a +1 composite longbow made of cold iron that has the bowstaff spell permanently cast on it. Its strength bonus automatically adjusts to the strength of the wielder.

Aenthurien, you'll get your magic bow soon.

Female Human Paladin (Holy Tactician) 14 [ HP 137/140 (0 NL) | AC 35 Tch 18 FF 30 | Fort +18 Ref +16 Will +20 | CMD 37 | Init +10 | Perc +12 | 13/13 LoH | 12/15 Mythic | Effects: 1 str damage, 6 cha damage ]

+1 as in strength rating or +1 as in magical?

Got it. Disregard last post then.

+1 magic. It has the adaptive property on it.

Aenthurien, you can use my composite (+1) longbow in the meantime if you'd like... and if we can figure out how to make the exchange in-game. :)

I should have called it quits a bit earlier last night, sorry.

Please don't slow down things for me. This is an AP after all. If you guys get on roll, I fully expect you to take advantage of it. I feel bad that my hours do not sync with yours very well. Unfortunately with kids and work, midnight, 1:00a EST is the best I'll ever do. Last night I was feeling pretty good and thought I'd be able to hang, then my 2 yr old woke up. Such is life.

Anyway, understand I feel bad for not being able to participate more in the evenings. I was just astonished to see how much happened after I walked away from the computer.

I don't know about you guys, but I feel we really worked for this level what with the fish, the scythe, and everything. :-)

Bunch of factors went into making that part harder. First, the mod is too easy for 5 people of your experience. Second, you guys were slighly behind on xp, so I had to add a monster or 2. Finally, that map was the climax of part 2. You are about halfway through the book now.

All leveled.

I'll wait til everyone tells me they are leveled before moving on.
