This recruitment thread RP is an insidious thing...

Mmmm - Dominos. I cast Unseen Servant and have it quickly run out and pick up some pizza for the cookies and milk crowd - that will make them very sleepy.

Sorry, just having a little fun is all. It also helps me nail down the character. It is indeed infectious. >:)

However the one to end that mans despicable life would be myself and I would do it for free given another chance. That is when you can strike down the king and turn this nation over to Asmodeus.”

Feegle lifts his head from his thoughts of pity to listen to Kyras.

"Nah...I don't *need* to take on the entire army to kill the King. Or do I? Tell me...old man...how would you like to kill the King? Tell me how you would do it so that I might have one more smile on my face before my life is ended so unjustly here."

Sitting in one corner, barechested with skin that is slightly red in hue and covered with strange tattoos is a man who is clearly devil touched. Aside from the color of his flesh, he has a pair of tiny horns that stick out of his hair, barely visible. When he speaks, his tongue is a bit pointy, moreso than it should be. However, the most telling feature is his eyes, which are best described as distressingly black. Looking into them, one gets the feeling that this man is on the side of Hell, and is quite comfortable with that.

"Why would you want to kill the king? I would much rather slowly turn him to worship Asmodeus and watch him fall from grace, then just have him die or be killed"

Shadow Lodge

Saeldur returned to his meditations, but the red-skinned man's words made the elf wonder.

If the king turned to the Prince of Darkness, I might just have to start liking him. It would be such a pity then if he lost his crown...

Once again you hear the cold voice from the darkness: That toy king will not live, if he realizes the errors in his way, it will only be on the Plains of Avernus. And then it will be many centuries before he is raised above the lowliest of devilkind.

"Will all you fools shut it? I'm trying to get ONE full night's sleep before I hang, dammit!"

ROFLMAO!

There will be plenty of time to rest while you are swinging from a rope. Although I do not plan on doing so myself, and am thus staying awake awaiting the opportunity to leave this holy prison.

You can hear a smidgen of disgust creep into her voice at the second to last word, or perhaps it was mockery at the duel meaning of the word.

Arvandes' eyes flash a soft, unearthly blue, like night clouds lit by a half-moon. He drags
An injured leg across the cold stone floor. A larger man steps toward him, sensing weakness in one of the new prisoners. With but a look, the smaller man freezes him in his tracks. Neigh oring prisoners hoot at his humiliation as he backs away.

The smaller, scarred human - a pirate from the rumors - moves to your corner. His scarred jawline

If you want to kill the king, you can't do it from here. First we survive the night, then we find a few others who can make the cut. We leave this place and leave the pretenders here to hang.

The clouds thicken over the moon and the shadows drop. In those few seconds of blackness, footsteps are heard. The scrape of tin on stone is heard. From one corner if the cell, there is a loud cry, followed by a wet gurgle. By the time the moon sheds a few rays of pale light again, Avrandes is sitting across from you. Did he move? His breathing is calm, but his stained shirt clings with new perspiration.

The big human lies in his corner, his eyes wide open and his form still. The tin cup on the floor is gone, now a jagged piece of crushed metal, half protruding from the big man's throat.

The Exchange

@Mr. Helt: well played, sir. That's how you frakkin' play this game. Well done.

Hektir Feegle nods along, his eyes never leaving Arvandes' face.

"Yeah, yeah. Survive the night. Sure. Then we can get to revenging."

Feegle smiles as he nods along, his teeth glinting in the light.

Ka'sar who had been very quiet up until now decides to back Arvades words.
"Gentlemen such boasting of killing the king is only more likely to get you to the front of the line. With that said I can keep those of you alive who can escape. That does not mean that it is ok to be reckless. Getting out, and getting out quickly is the primary goal. Once that is done we can figure out how to teach our oppressors a lesson."

this was ment to be before Haruk spoke and I don't think it will chang the conversatoin

A slight smile can be seen across his face.

Old man? Ha. I wish I had a life the long, t'was only my birth some 22 years ago. I'm only in this state because I was able to escape the purge as a child only to be caught after foolisly trying to kill him with out the nessary skills. So with that and escaping earned me tourture to with in an inch of my life. Also I never said to take on the whole of the nations army just the man that leads it,only than will you be able to get to kill the king. If that is what you seek for my only desire is to end that one mans life before my own breath leaves me for good."

Perhaps sounding slightly of mirth, you hear the cold voice again:

It sounds like there are a lot of failures here. Did anyone succeed in their crime? I drove my blade into her heart and watched as the life blood drained away. Perhaps you all should have plotted against one of the King's kids, or lambs. Then at least you would be going to the gallows a success.

Kyras regaining his strenght from this conversation, raises and eyebrow to ask Xrezth

"and who did you kill to get sent here and to act all high and mighty?"

Haruk laughs, a chilling sound that almost sounds like crackling flame "Which crime? I have converted many to the worship of the King of Hell, then slew them so their souls would be consigned to the Pit. I overran a church of Iomedae, and desecrated it in the name of Hell and it's Lord."

You hear a brief cackle: The former Duchess Norgarn. Oh, the fear and betrayal in her eyes as I twisted the blade in her heart, may her soul toil in pain for all eternity.

The waif of a woman gives a sly smile. The gleam in her eyes and the shake of her hands tell of memories far more potent than what she is letting on.

"Did any of us succeed? I did many times, but you only have to be caught once. The nobility is full of trusting fools. and their valuables were just a few stealthy steps away." a chuckle escapes her lips, and a subtle hint of sarcasm colors her voice, "If I'd know I had to kill the Princess to be a success, though, I would have plunged a dagger in her heart instead of trying to pilfer her jewelry."

Scarab Sages RPG Superstar 2013

@Painlord: grazi.

Ghael looks at those who respond and ignores the rest. His voice lowers as the big human continues to die behind him.

There are maybe two dozen tars worth plotting an escape, even in a hard place like this. Too many to trust without cutting out tongues. I say we pick a few who are in. We include a few more in our planning, but we don't tell them.Them's fodder for the pursuit - someone less dangerous and less organized so the soldiers keep their face.

Those narrow eyes look to ensure the crowd isn't growing behind him. Now, some of us are going, and some of them are staying. We choose now. We include a few whiners in the fake plan, and we nominate a false leader. So we have four groups. One goes to a select hideout. One goes their own ways. One is a distraction and keeps the guards' attention. And most stay and hang.

Another moment passes. I have a place to rest and decide where to go next. Some will not join with us and like your chances alone. I give you a chance to run with no commitment. Some would rather die than run, but prefer to kill more guards before being hung. Some of you seek revenge, and a chance for wealth and conquest. If you can sail under a captain, I'll raise ye a flag.

Vladimir Velrusso:
I went ahead and looked at some of your previuos posts as your recommended. What I'm currently questioning is the Souldrinker PrC. First off, I have no problems reflavoring certain PrC's for their mechanics if that's what you are interested in. But based on what I'm seeing, you are interested in the soul aspect of the class.
One of the requirements is that you worship one of the four horsemen. Is this also a requirement you would liked waived or do you plan to worship one of the four horsemen? And if the horsemen is your goal, how would you react to pledging allegiance to Asmodeus?
Another question is how do you plan to use the soul gems?

I'll just go ahead and do the adjustments with such little time 'til the selection period.

"And now the bell has rung upon you, villainous scum of Talingarde! Thus begins the purge, where we shall weed out those who have brought the greatest pains upon our fair country. From those of you who chosen to stand against us, it shall be weeded down to only a handful. Those with this misfortune shall be brought, bereft of weapon and spell, bound by chains, and sent to wait your final days at Branderscar Prison. In 3 days time, you shall face your final sentence. In 3 days, those who have risen above the others shall be dealth their final fates, an example to the rest. In 3 days, your stories will all come to an end. In 3 days, you will learn why none have escaped Branderscar. In 3 days."

Technically I allotted 4 to the selection process. But hey, close enough, right?

LOL! Nice Touch. Well played, sir!

I'll be keeping an eye and ear on the thread and am always open for any questions as I await the court's deliberations

Hmmm - I like this, it took the lord 6 days to create the world and then he rested on the seventh. So, we are supposed to bring it all down in only 3 - does that mean we get 4 days off because of our efficiency?

"The name's Blackerly, and I'll be your host for your stay in Branderscar. While my men prepare for your arrival, let's get a few things in order.

"First off is the Roster. The tab called 'Campaign Info' lists all the criminals we might be seeing. If your name isn't on that list, speak up and we'll make sure Sir Balin comes out to collect you too. Otherwise you might miss the prison wagon here.

"Next off are the interrogators. They might want to pull a few more things out of you before you arrive. If they ask, I recommend you be telling. Of course they've gotten most of what we need to make sure your stay here is short lived. But sometimes they just need that extra bit.

"Finally, remember that the wagon only has so much room. If you ain't coming here, it's not that you weren't vile enough to make a name for yourself. That's just the way it is. Hopefully the next one will have room for you."

@KMV:

I wouldn't mind having the worship part waived. If it was required I figured Vlad simply wouldn't be monotheistic meaning he would worship Asmodeus with full faith, but also revere one of the 4 horsemen. I was leaning strongly towards War. (As in Burning the country to the ground and declaring 'war' on talingrad/shining lord). I imagine both War and Death's motives would strongly align themselves with any Asmodean plot in any case.

I don't have too strong of an attachment to the concept, though so it can be waived and I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Vlad is already deeply dedicated to Asmodeus, but if questioned portrays himself as a framed philanthropist and denies his worship.

I like the synergy of playing a Teifling and soul gems. Particularly if allowed even though a Teifling is a native outsider it's still an outsider and alignment could allow it to be considered an evil outsider. To that end a Cacodaemon has the nifty function of ripping the soul out of a slain victim 1 minuet after their demise and forging a soul gem. If eaten by an outsider the outsider gains fast healing 2 and damns the spirits soul to the lower planes (Likely hell given Vlads alignment). I have no problem re-purposing the familiar into anything else I simply like the fluff/function of it.

Long term I planned on using strength boons either from the abyssal bloodline or through Eldritch heritage feat to make his melee/claw attacks more potent and combine it with painful necromantic touch spells or spectral hand to deliver damage + energy drain + touch spells.

I plan on using soul points to recover spells and soul gems to pick up fast healing when needed.

I gravitated towards the idea of the PrC primarily upon the very idea that not only slaying the enemies of Asmodeus, but also sending their very souls to the pits of hell for all eternity is considerably more wicked.

Slaying them and denying their shining lord the souls of his faithful and instead redirecting their souls eternal resting place to one of torment and pain sounds pretty darn cool and worth the caster levels.

I'll adjust the full crunch by tonight if you want.

Well, guess there's no chance for actual application then. Hrm, damn.

Clever theming though, I'll admit.

Ditto. :)

A full 25 applications...I don't envy your job, KMV.

I hear he is breaking them into three groups. "Good" applications, "Bad" applications and "Hell Yea".

Jethryk maintains a calm exterior, although he seethes inside.

Damn these lackeys of a worthless government! I may not be able to take them down, but someone, someday, surely shall, and replace it with a form of governance that rules with an iron fist - at least then the hard decisions will be made, rather than hiding behind a facade, spouting platitudes...

"Here is my paperwork. I think that you will find that everything is in order."

Scarab Sages RPG Superstar 2013

So is this the time to give you a full sheet or do you not need those yet?

Ka'sar makes mental notes of the demeanor every prisoner heard so far.
"A lot of these men are too eager to die. I want partners that are eager to succeed. Patience is the key, but these, these men here, just want to take a life, as if that is the only requirement for success."

Very nice! I can't wait to see what group is chosen. :)

For the most part, the great bulk of Larsan has endured in silence in a corner of his cell. Finally with the announcement he stretches, testing the slack on his chains once the Sergeant's is out of earshot. "It will do." he pronounces thoughtfully, after a time. Shortly the sound of his cellmate choking echoes through the holding area, ending finally in a gasping death rattle.

"The rest of you should do likewise." He offers the prisoners in the other cells. "Try not to leave any sign, so you can get their portion of chow as well. You'll be needing your strength, if we're to tear down the false rulers and their supporters."

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Because a couple people have asked (via PM), RP or not in the recruitment thread will not hurt or support your chances of getting in. It is fun to read them though. The plans for a reality show go through my head though...

"On today's episode of 'Escape from Branderscar', our villains must try to poison as many guards as they can, without being poisoned by their own potential allies. Three of our villains have formed the Asmodeus Alliance to combat the Enclave of Evil! Who will come out on top? Remember, 25 go in, only 5 come out alive to wreak havok on the citizens of Talingarde! Today on 'Escape from Branderscarrrrr'"

Oh no, it looks like the big Ulfen who was so adept at beheading competitors in yesterday's elimination bout is a little lacking in his poison use. The only question now is how much fun the other prisoners will have with him while the hemlock takes affect.

Gwyn steals most of his stuff while no one's looking.

I feel like if I roleplay with Vladi any more in these recruitment threads it'll break my little heart if he doesn't get accepted.....

And little hearts are so fragile. The quickest slice from my serrated dagger and a little heart will quickly leach it's frail lifeblood onto the ground at my feet.

There is no place for fragile hearts, only dispassionate pain.

Damn - ninjaed. Wait - I can't be ninjaed when he was killing himself.

As this though strikes Xrezth you hear a cold bone chilling cackle from the cell across the hall.

Good luck everyone!

Vlad looks over Xrezth with a raised eyebrow "A heart? such trepid, fluttering, fragile inconvenience. I assure you I have none."

"Nor do I have use for a knife" he casually mentions as he raises his hand and his sharpened nails seemingly grow to deadly points and he brushes a lock of ashen silver hair from his eyes to gaze at her with his pale blue eyes a strange intensity behind them.

His back to the stone wall chained to his cell he laughs "No, No, in their place I hold a colossal passion that would crush that which is beneath me. A unbound soul which is filled with limitless vigor and desire to fuel my own purpose. Charm, cunning, and intellect to sharpen and keen such weapons. Such weapons are razor sharp and more deadly than many a knife." he grins with a handsome unsettling smile.

"But perhaps your own blade is quite deadly. I look forward to seeing it in action. My name is Sir Vladimir Velrusso. Perhaps you've heard of me? I would take a knee and kiss your hand upon introduction, but unfortunately my position chained to this insufferable cell prevents that and extending my throat to the mercy of your blade is likely unwise." and he gives a polite nod. "May I ask such a deadly young lady for her name?"
