Arathorn Vallar |
Arriving at the site Arathorn is going to look around to see if anything else has passed through the area while telling Atticus to guard near the narrow point of the path.
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
Going to take 10 for both the handle animal and survival checks (18) for the survival check for tracks.
The World's Most Interesting GM |
Arathorn can't find any tracks.
Hallimir Duskrin |
Once we reach the summit, Hallimir looks around at the hilltop blankly.
"So this is supposed to be a crash site....so, where is the wreckage?"
Hallimir pulls out Ulisha's map and rechecks their position.
Survival: 1d20 ⇒ 11
Hallimir Duskrin |
"Perhaps, but there would still be some indication of it being here. Maybe something got left behind..."
Hallimir then begins looking around the peak for any clues or remains of a wreckage.
perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
Arathorn Vallar |
Taking the map from Hallimir; Arathorn attempts to also confirm location of the crash site.
Survival: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18
I didn't see any tracks recently so doubt it has walked away...but where is it?
Blane Bonesnatcher |
Vlane from the back of his pony will scan the area looking for the wreckage.
"maybe we just missed it guys"
perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
love the pony that is just halarious. I did mive blane next to his pony though he is still mounded on it
Arathorn Vallar |
Scratching his head Arathorn continues to look around attempting to drag any of his knowledge that could answer the question of the missing loot.
Knowledge (Geography): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
Knowledge (Nature): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
The World's Most Interesting GM |
Hallimir notices that the soil along one slope of the hill (X marks the spot) is looser than it should be, as if a recent rockslide had covered it. It only takes a few minutes of digging to uncover a solid metal surface buried below. The pod is ovoid, just over 10 feet in length and 5 feet in diameter at its widest point. The metal itself is strange and unfamiliar, but with a successful
The entire wreck appears to be relatively undamaged. Its surface is scratched and dented but unbroken, and a 3-by-5-foot section of the side appears as though it could be opened on a strange recessed hinge assembly.

Arathorn Vallar |
Taking a look at the object Arathorn attempts to determine the metal.
Knowledge (nature): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Strange dunno where this would have come from.
Anyone have any idea how to open this...or a crowbar maybe?
Zaratina |
Zaratina looks around for anything that might serve as a lever--that isn't a weapon--and with or without such a tool, attempts to pry open the casket.
She spits in her hand and rubs them together. "Let me try."
Strength: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
Hallimir Duskrin |
Hallimir also grabs hold of the hinge and attempts to assist Zaratina in prying open the pod.
"ready when you are....1..2..3"
Strength: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
Arathorn Vallar |
Arathorn is going to keep an eye out with an arrow knocked Feel like that isn't spelled right sadly. while Hallimir and Zaratina attempt to open the object.
Let me know if you want me to help.
The World's Most Interesting GM |
She spits in her hand and rubs them together. "Let me try."
Before Hallimir can suggest a countdown Zaratina exerts herself. Her teeth gritted, face flushing red, then purple, sweat beading, bellowing like an enraged grizzly bear in a barrel or more precisely Slyvester Stallone in a power-lifting training montage, facial fluids all running, every vein in her neck popped out in sharp relief Zaratina locks her fingers under the door's lip and pries the thing open with an audible SNAP!
The inside of the wreck is cramped. A single chair made out of the same strange metal faces the hatch, dozens of straps hang inside the device, and an array of levers and buttons lines the interior on one side. Several dozen palm-sized metallic discs and an unadorned silvery bracer lie scattered across the interior.

You just need to leave the 'k' off.

"Well then....i guess that's that"
Hallimir has a quick glance around pod from the hatch before climbing into the strange metallic chair.
"Alright....lets see what we have here" he says inspecting the disks
Knowledge (local): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8 no idea :-)
Blane Bonesnatcher |
Blane kinda glances over at the strange metallic thing. "i have no clue what that is or where it could have come from."
Blane climbs down off the back of surper awesome sparkle cake.
As hallimir picks up the metal discs and look at them.
"hallimir hand me that bracer looking thingy there. blane will atempt to put it on.
i will guess its for a med but he will try to put it on anyways
Arathorn Vallar |
While Arathorn takes a look inside the compartment and picks up one of the discs; he doesnt see a need to try to climb in and will continue to keep watch while the rest of the group investigates.
Appraise: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Nope...sorry got nothing for this completely out of my knowledge base both for the object and everything inside of it.
The World's Most Interesting GM |
Anyone can try the Appraise check.
As Blane wraps the silver band about his wrist, a faint nimbus of purple light suddenly appears about an inch away from his body, and all the sound around him seems slightly muted, like he had just stuck his head underwater (though not actually quite that bad).
Blane Bonesnatcher |
"hey guys can anyone else see this and you gonna have to kinda speak up i seem to cant hear you all that well"
i dont know if i can spellcraft this or not but im gonna try since it seem to have some sort of magical properties
spellcraft: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18
Hallimir Duskrin |
Hallimir continues to examine the disks
Without much avail.
appraise: 1d20 ⇒ 12
He shrugs just as he looks up a Blanes comment then tosses the disks on the ground as he quickly climbs out of the pod , his interest in this new development clearly peaked
"whoa.....Blane....what did you do?"
Arathorn Vallar |
Interesting Blane see the aura but dunno what it is...Hmm probably should cast Detect Magic to make sure that we aren't missing anything...Also Hallimir does the journal specify what we should bring back from this wreck...Doubt we can move the whole thing but probably should bring back anything that we can.
Zaratina |
Appraise: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (15) + 0 = 15
"The disks are Numerian currancy," Zaratina informs the others. She gathers the disks and prepares to head back to civilization.
Hallimir Duskrin |
Hallimir pulls out the journal and scans it for indicaiton of what Ulisha mihgt be after,
"Ulisha makes no reference to anything specific, but I imagine any small items would fetch a hefty price. We should also inform the Society of this pod's location so that a full survey team can be dispatched to recover it any any oter artefacts for study."
He then notes down the location on his map.
"we should probably bury the pod again so that none of the locals destroy it before it can be returned to the Society"
The World's Most Interesting GM |
The journal supposes that the site is one that has been overlooked and that only Ulisha's luck and tenacity allowed her to put the clues together that discovered it. So she didn't really know what you would find--in this case 35 silver discs, and the personal [i]self-immolator[/s]. I mean the bracelet.
Anything else you'd like to do here?
Arathorn Vallar |
After listening to Hallimir.
Good idea lets take a little time to remove our presence so the guild can send a specialist to take a look at it.
Arathorn with use a couple of 10s and 20s for survival to hide most of the trace of the group and hopefully to help hide the disturbance of digging for the object after the rest of the group covers it some.

Zaratina: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (15) - 1 = 14
The job done the party prepares to leave.
Anything else? Otherwise I will move us along later.
Map updated.
Arathorn Vallar |
Arathorn moves quickly forward to Hallimir.
Not sure if taking 10 for stealth would work here giving me a value of 17 but figured would try that while moving up.
WhispersWe got company coming up the trail...Counted 3...Do you think we should fall back and fight them at the trailhead if they are hostile.
Could I tell if they are tracking us or just moving up the trail when I spotted them, and just out of curiosity should I be putting these in spoilers or since I was sharing with the group anyways it doesn't matter.
Hallimir Duskrin |
A look of caution and urgency flashes across Hallimir's face,
Whispering " We have the tactical advantage up here....we should let them come into this narrow path so we have control until we establish their motives. If they atack, then we can easily contain them"
With that Hallimir moves quietly back towards the summit and peers between the rocks to observe the oncomming travellers.
stealth: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28
"we have armed men heading this way....I am going to keep an eye on them until they are in this bottle neck" he wispers as he passes Blane and Zaratina.
Blane Bonesnatcher |
Blane not sure whats going on see's his friends moving back tp the top of the hill leads. His pony back to the top where he just stands there looking confused. i dont know when eceryone came back up here and there lips are moving but cant hear what there saying why is that......oh ya this weird metal thing.
Blane will take off the metal piece and put it his saddle bag on the super awesome sparkle cake.
Speaking up"whats going on guys when did everyone come back up here?"
Hallimir Duskrin |
Hallimir shoots Blane an urgent look (something akin to WTF...shut the hell up :-)) and holds his finger to his lips then gestures over the cliff that 3 people are approaching.
The World's Most Interesting GM |
1d20 ⇒ 10
1d20 ⇒ 16
The three slow their advance, draw weapons, and look up to the summit
Did you guys have a plan?
Arathorn Vallar |
While miming punching Blane; Arathorn quickly takes a peek over the edge and seeing weapons drawn. He approaches the edge with his bow half drawn though not picking out a target yet.
Hold right there!
Attempting to determine if they were tracking us to be on the trail along with any hostility.
Sense motive: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
[ooc]Welp that failed though think we are going sans plan beyond holding the high ground since Blane played the bracelet correctly.
Thud the barbarian |
“Hold,” demands a large Kellid man hefting a massive blade. “You’re are not from here, and those things that you are undoubtedly taking are not yours. Give us the silverdisks, all the gold you have, and anything else you found there. Then you may live. I will give you until the count of three to come down.”
He nods grimly and with that the three dash for cover along the slope. They are coming for you.
Hallimir Duskrin |
From behind the rock he is using to hide, Hallimir calls out to the Kellids
"My good man, this site is not worth your time. There is precious little here. Come up and inspect the site for yourself if you wish. But our few posessions are our own."
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19
Arathorn Vallar |
Arathorn moves to get back in position to attack before casting Gravity Bow.
Round 1 of 10 and will keep track here for the duration assuming we are in combat and 1 minute = 10 rounds.
Speaking to his companions as he crosses to his new position.
Next one I see with a drawn sword is getting an arrow.
Thud the barbarian |
Laying flat agianst the hillside the men are hard to get a bead on (read: cover) and what follows is a standoff broken moments later by the big Kellid.
"Tell you what, if you imagine us to be dishonerable men send the person you like least among your party down with the treasure. That way if we kill them at least you are not out much."
Hallimir Duskrin |
Hallimir contemplates for a moment before calling back, "A fine offer, but I habe I have a better one.....leave now and we may yet 'forget' to mention to the Black Sovereign that you threatened and interfered with this expedition.
After All, It was he that hired us to explore this area in search of new artifacts to help further his dominance."
bluff: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
Hallimir Duskrin |
"No not the guild.....mercenaries, who simply wish to get paid for their work. But that being said, interfering with this expedition may attract the attention of the guild....are you really willing to risk that?"
Hallimir looks over at the rest of the party anxiously whilst silently drawing his curve blade.
Arathorn Vallar |
Arathorn looks briefly at Hallimir and motions keep going but is unwilling to provide speak further considering the barbarians just ignored him. Before going back to watching around the rock for any of them to step into view.
The World's Most Interesting GM |
The men rush up along the path. The two with shields have them raised.
Map updated.
Arathorn Vallar |
Just curious how much time will have passed from when I cast Gravity Bow it is 1 min duration. Also, assuming the orange doesn't have any concealment from Arathorn if so will move the target to whichever one he can see with the least amount of cover.
Seeing them rush Arathorn draw back and takes a shot at the one most visible.
Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
Damage (Gravity Bow): 2d6 ⇒ (5, 5) = 10
Damage (Regular): 1d8 ⇒ 4

It takes at minimum a minute to try and bluff someone into believing a lie--so a minute will have passed. Now that they are up and moving, the Kellids don't have cover.
