Hallimir Smiles bluntly at the man as he mispronouces his false name and jabs Blane in the eye, "Close enough friend, but no, we are not here to visit a loved one...just out seeing what Gralton offers.

In fact, last night I head some of the patrons in the inn discussing some of the grand Mausoliums of the town, I was hoping to get a look at them."

For a small city, Gralton boasts a few ostentatious cemeteries, with the tombs of wealthy Galtan refugees evoking their lost glories. This one seems particularly overdone. There are a number of people moving among the monuments this morning as it is, as the guard said, a very nice day.

Just beyond the gate squats the Tullivor mausoleum. This baroque marble tomb clamors for attention like a gaudy flag waving for a once noble house. Its most audacious feature is a sculpted badger that looms, gargoyle-like, above the door. The iron door is decorated not only with the Tullivor name and crest, but also with an elaborate occult rune. On the walk up to the door rests a stone plinth with man's stone bust.

Possibly...Going to walk Atticus a little more and scout out the rest of the cemetery.

So saying Arathorn makes a circuit of the area looking for anything out of place with Atticus trailing.

"Do not fairget to curb yur dog!" shouts Platzholdur as Arathorn and Atticus move off. "You know who 'as to clean eet up othairwize."

They make their circuit of the tomb, but find nothing out of ordinary beyond the overwrought ornamentation (which includes family crests featuring leaping badgers, and shields, and the motto Never in Shadow!), the superior masonry that makes the vault more vault-like, the strange foreboding arcane rune over the impregnable-seeming door, and the double-life-size, stone bust before the crypt's entry.

Without bending over and looking inside the lock at point blank range or prodding it with lock picks you are not likely to gain anymore information about the lock.

My bad, Hallimir. I misread that.

Hallimir stands inspecting the large stone bust that a little brass plaque names as Laban Tullivor. The giant head looks back and speaks!

"When le last son falls upon zis spot, receivé mon thanks." it says in voice like sneering tectonic plates. When it finishes it returns to its previous pose--a disdainful glare.

"Prettay good, non?" says the guardsman suddenly present and slapping Hallimir on the back.

A dusk settles on the town square throwing long dark shadows, and bathing all of the white monuments an ominous red. The last of the shop keepers have closed their shops and gone home for the evening. Town workers workers and visitors have deserted the square for their homes while they can still see the path there.

dicey:

The man is clearly dead. He's young, and human, and very, very well-dressed. Prominent among his finery is a brilliantly tooled belt buckle made in the likeness of a badger. The man's wrists are bound behind his back with common rope. Hallimar notes a stab wound in the man's side--probably made by a shortsword given the wound, and almost certainly the cause of death. The body also has some small claw marks on the face. Lastly, Hallimir notes the body is still warm....

A Noble Face in the Crowd - Knowledge (nobility) (DC 15):
The badger is the Tullivor sigil, and given the resemblance between the victim and Laban's bust he is most likely Laban Tullivor’s heir, Northis Tullivor.

Facial Blemish - Knowledge (nature) or Survival (DC 15):
The claws were made by a goshawk's talons.

Arathorn:
Arathorn finds a couple recent sets of foot prints around Laban's bust. One set is the victim's. The other set lead him to tall monument next door to the Tullivor crypt. This monument is as covered in falcons iconography and statuary as Tullivor's is in badgers. Behind the second crypt the tracks meet up with those of a horse, and finally he finds the boots that made the prints set in the stirrups of a brilliant white charger. Currently the boots are being worn by a young human woman dressed in black, rakish attire with a wide-brimmed hat. She rides forward a bit into party view.

"Hail zere, friend. What are you doéng haire?" From deeper in the cemetery a woman mounted on a fine horse rides up to Arathorn. He notes her loaded crossbow.

1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

Atticus: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21
Blane: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (20) + 0 = 20
Hallimir: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9

He doesn't believe in 'game balance'. Gandalf always lets him pass. As a feat, he has Exotic Weapon Proficiency (beard). The city guard often question him, just because they find him so interesting. His dice bag is woven from tarrasque leather. His TPKs end game lines. His blood cures moderate wounds. He once punched a flumph. Yes, you heard me. He belongs to a prestige class whose sole requirement for entry is just being him. ♬ He is indeed, the most interesting GM in the world. ♬

Atticus makes a sort of high-pitched whining-growling noise from somewhere deep inside his chest.

Arathorn, Blane, Hallimir:
You don't believe her story.
