Rising up from the pool is a column of rock with steeply sloped sides and a flat top, as if someone had sawn off the top of a massive stalagmite. A miniature city carved from this same stone occupies nearly the entire surface. Tiny trinkets such as ancient coins, polished semiprecious stones, and ornately braided loops of string are scattered throughout the diorama, and pale cave frogs clamber atop it.

absolutely, she's not hiding her actions, just whispering cause Monty told her she's being silly. Seeing her catch the fish and offer it up is fine.

Balgrym One Hand |
"Well, that's it, then," Balgrym bellows. "Time to go, everyone!"
Balgrym heads for the side passage to the west, and does not wait for the others to follow.
Alexis "The Odd" Trismegistis |
Alexis sighs. "Would somebody terribly mind carrying me?" She points to the diorama. "I was very much hoping for a better look at that."
Balgrym One Hand |
Balgrym stops, grumbles, looks at his companions, back down the tunnel, then with shame to Uori, and responds, "Fine, yes, diorama it is. Up you go."
He brusquely grabs Alexis and hoists her on his shoulders, then walks into the water for the diorama, fully expecting to have to hold his breath for a short while.
Alexis "The Odd" Trismegistis |
"Oh my. Exquisite!"
She is silent for a moment, then an odd look crosses her face.
"Aroden was said to prize teaching by example. I wonder...."
I do now what I was trying to do earlier.
"The Artist bestows beauty and inspiration upon civilization," She says in a ritualistic-sounding voice.
Karayan |
The god is dead, leave his relics to time. In the end we are all dust, even gods.
"While you are down there, will you draw the thing so we can report on it?"
Hengist the Mighty |
Hengist watches Alexis with interest, and when Karayan makes his suggestion, he calls back, "I can endeavor if Alexis cannot!" Feeling that it's not exactly respectful, though, he decides to first clear the little frogs gently off the diorama.

Wading into the water, Nina snatches up a pallid, eyeless cave fish from the water and quickly breaks it back. She places it upon the edge of the miniature city.
As she does so, Alexis bids Balgrym to stoop lower, until he is nearly eye to eye with a trio of cave frogs, so that she might draw some pictographs upon the city's walls.
And in completing their tasks the two pathinders, and their fellows are overcome by a very, very mild sense of divine wonder as if breathed upon by a passing choir boy's second cousin.
The PCs each gain +1 competence bonus on Perception checks to notice creatures, and a +2 insight bonus on a single combat maneuver check.
In addition the lasses are even further blessed; Alexis gains cheesesense (60 ft), and Nina can speak fluent Spanish. All these divine gifts are available for the next 24 hours.

Oh, and map updated.
"Karayan..." Hayden turns away from the gillman as he speaks. "I think our friend is very interested in you."
That would be tough given you're current relative locations. Hayden would have to turn away from Karayan too. More likely, Hayden would try and get Karayan's attention while Uori was looking at Karayan, and then play dumb when Uori looked back Hayden's way. This method also has the advantage of looking funnier.
Sir Hayden Greyrun |
Hayden motions to get Karayan's attention, then walks over to speak to the man closely. "The gillman seem to be focused on you."
Hengist the Mighty |
Hengist smiles. "Ah...perhaps Aroden--or whatever is left of him--is pleased." Hoisting the torch again, he waded out of the pool and shakes himself off.
Karayan |
He moves down to the water and asks "You have made it clear you want us gone, yet my companions tell me you seem focused on me. We have not met before, can you tell me what the cause of your fascination is"
A veil of illusion makes the subject appear to be someone else and then transform into a hideous monster at an opportune time. While this trick is implanted, the subject's appearance is altered, as disguise self. The mesmerist can trigger this trick when the subject attacks a creature. The illusory appearance briefly makes the subject appear monstrous, then ends. The mesmerist attempts an Intimidate check to demoralize the target of the triggering attack. The restrictions on attempts to demoralize a target (the target being within 30 feet and able to see and hear the creature attempting the Intimidate check) apply to the subject of the trick. This is an illusion (glamer) effect.
I have no issue at all if he pierced my disguise, just wanted you to know

"Ah, of course." Karayan unclasps his cloak and holds it out in front of him "We found this in a pit earlier in these tunnels. Is it yours or do you know who it belongs to?"

Nina giggles as she speaks the strange language she now knows to Monty, who proceeds to grumble about "Dead Gods". Nina carries Monty once again as they move to the entrance of one of the "Deeper" area's mention, Nina inquisitively trying to see if she can find anything out about it.

The tunnel is long and winding with short branches that quickly dead end sprouting all about it.
As the party moves on the air grows staler, and ranker, and the walls grow slick with damp mold. Finally the tunnel ends in a rough cul-de-sac, with a narrow crack leading off at a perpendicular angle from the main tunnel, just before the end. It is from that aperture that the stench is the foulest.

Nina sniffs the air and makes a face of anger. Wordlessly, she sets Monty down and steps in front of him. Monty draws his dagger and places a hand on her back, muttering softly.

Unfortunately, her shuffling movements means she makes a fair amount of noise as she move, sending small rocks tumbling away from her and making a fair amount of noise. Monty rolls his eyes at her and Nina shrugs and they keep moving. Nina looks around, using her darkvision to see into the darkness.
Balgrym One Hand |
Relying on his dwarven darkvision and not on the torchlight, Balgrym advances, ready to meet whatever challenge there is.

Only a little light creeps into the chamber from the hall but it is enough to see the shambling, panting horrors that await in the cave.
Three fetid, twitching, slobbering, humanoid things arise out of the dark, in the midst of a cave full of ruin. Torn, and muddy paper, broken spelunking gear, and scientific equipment all lay stamped into the wet earth about the chamber. A pale corpse, equally spoiled, lays amid the wreckage its limbs and neck all twisted at impossible angles.
The creatures seem to recognize the party as invaders. They shamble forward with murderous intent!
Each character who sees the monsters may make one knowledge check. Open all the spoilers that apply. Note: Characters can make untrained Knowledge checks, but the highest result attainable is 10.

Knowledge, Religion: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
Sir Hayden comes up behind Balgrym. He gasps, raising his bow reflexively. "Zombies! Gillman zombies, by the look of it. They're moving slow, but zombies are tough. You need to use a cutting weapon to take them down." He lowers his bow and draws his goddess' weapon, the scimitar.

Hengist and Karayan move forward. Hengist guarding the party's flank from one zombie obviously intent upon easier meat.
Sir Hayden, I'm going to leave the action as is, dice and all, but since it is not technically Sir's turn yet (Nobility, go figure.) and my zombies were sort of wanting to stand in or about that spot the zombies in question are going to do something terribly clever for zombies--they are going to ready actions to slam the first meal that gets into range, which would have been you anyhow. On the plus side, you are not flat-footed.
The other zombies advance squelching, and burbling as they come.
Suddenly Sir Hayden bursts upon them from nowhere, sword slashing, but before it bites deep into colorless silver-white flesh, the tone and consistency of a dead fish's rotting underbelly, a webbed fist hammers down upon his shoulder. Where it not for his quick (some might say too quick) reflexes his back would have snapped under the inhumanly strong blow. Even so the glancing strike leaves him seeing stars.

Alexis catches up as quickly as her short legs and cumbersome armor will allow.
I double-move.
Balgrym One Hand |

Instead, he sidesteps and dances to Hengists side, swiping at the Zombie, not really seeming to actually be trying to hit it, just trying to give Hengist an opening.

With what exactly? The character doesn't seem to have any weapons, nor Improved Unarmed Strike. Aiding the way Monty is trying to normally involves making an 'attack roll', which can provoke attacks of opportunity as usual when striking unarmed against a foe that is 'armed' in this case with a natural weapon.
