Hope this week treats you better Bill.

Alara. I have one last post in the Flex thread. It's just that what you left gave me inspiration for one last post.
Bill Dunn
And I'll let you handle all the treasure division you want. If you have questions about certain things (values of items, how some magic stuff works), let me know. But the final decision of how to divide up your loot is a party thing - I'm just a mediator for that aspect of play.
I will go on record and say that I'm not a big fan of strictly balancing magic item market values or requiring a PC to "pay for" it's value to the rest of the party. Some moderately expensive items that appear early in APs but will be useful later (and I'm not sure yet if Jade Regent has many of those - but Council of Thieves had a few) end up too expensive for anyone to buy so they get sold - and that just hurts later adventuring. I'm not saying you shouldn't use a method like that, but I would recommend making it very flexible for just such an occasion if you do.

Just to let you guys know, I will be gone on Friday and Sunday and posting may be late on those days.

For the loot situation. If we find something that we assume might be useful to everyone then we can call it a party item (such as a wand of CLW). That way we can sell some items, but keep the ones that might be useful later on without anyone having to spend the money for it. I also assume that we could have a party member "go into debt" where they spend more than they currently have allocated for a share, so that they could pick up an item that might help them out. If a party member went "into debt" then they would simply have to pay back what was owed at a later date.
EX: We find 50 +1 shurikens. Obviously this would go to Alara. Let's assume that Alara doesn't have enough individual gold to pay for keeping all of them (remembering that she would only have to pay 50% since that is the most we could get for selling it). Alara keeps the shurikens and goes into debt. While in debt nothing happens, but when we find our next treasure 50% of Alara's share will be deducted towards the debt of the 50 +1 shurikens. If this pays it off then she is no longer in debt. If it won't pay it off then she is still in debt, but nothing else. While in debt she could still claim more magical, or mundane items, but that would just add to her old debt.
EX 2: We find a wand of CLW with 50 charges. Obviously this is an item that everyone in the party can benefit from, so we talk it over and decide that we want to keep it as a party item. We don't count the wand towards loot found and instead keep it for everybody to use when they need to.
Sharrd
That also seem fair to me! As for the CLW want, Sharrd would even go so far as to go in a joint purchase of such a useful item for the group.

Mr GM Sir, what are your rules concerning crafting/enchanting? I can't remember if we asked about it once you took over!
Bill Dunn
I'm largely content with the guidelines as listed in the PF rules. For original items, I can be pretty tough about their cost and will take a pretty hard look at them.
I confess that I generally prefer campaigns in which there isn't a ton of magic item creation because I just happen to like older-school styles of campaign in which powerful magic items are a bit harder to simply go out and buy. But I'm flexible enough on that score, plus magic shops may be scarce for a segment of this campaign given the amount of travel involved so being able to make or upgrade your own items may not be a terrible idea.
I think there are few things that have transformed D&D as much as the magic item creation/buying rules in 3e/PF. Gone are the days in which a PC got a ring of shooting stars and thought "That's kind of cool for some uses" rather than said "Oh, sell it and get a ring of protection." And that's a sad commentary on D&D.
Piper Hemlock
That's good, Bill. I've never done much buying magical equipment in D&D. So I might need some help. But I know you guys will help me out. :)
One last post in Flex, Alara.

We were not informed of any gifts that our potential interests may want (at least I didn't, but Masamune is going to try and make them all rivals anyway).
EDIT: Also as a side note to that. Is there any item on the loot list that you thing should be kept as a party item speak up now, and what all do people want from the loot that they want to keep and not have sold (I know I'm asking this again, but that's just to make sure)?
Masamune Mitsuhide
Putting my +1 towards rivalry with Shalelu since Masamune wants to be better than she is.
Jacen "Ash" Teleris
Have we been able to open the chest? That is the thing I'm most curious about at this point. Beyond that and the cloak, I don't have any cares about what we get.

Loot sheet is mainly completed. If you want to buy something, and you can get it put the item in the bracket for item under your name, and the cost of the item in price bracket next to the item's name.
Jacen "Ash" Teleris
Thanks for that, Masa!

OK, for each of you, I will include one sort of thing your trait NPC likes for gifts that could advance your relationship. Other options you'll have to figure out through play.
As far as obvious-plot oriented party loot - the map on the back of the fan stands out. But as long as it's transcribed to another paper, there is little that screams "unique item for use later".
Sharrd
Just wanted to be sure about the spreadsheet. Individual Gold is 522.27 and Sharrd has taken the Dragon Latern (100gp) and a 1 Skyrocket (50g) meaning that Sharrd gets 522.27-150=372.27gp.
Yeah Relationship modifiers. Sharrd will apply the +1 for leveling to Koya as the memory of their argument is fading.
Masamune Mitsuhide
Spreadsheet got messed up a bit for some reason. Have edited it back to proper place.
Jacen "Ash" Teleris
Happens to all of us. Welcome back!
Masamune Mitsuhide
Just thought of this question, but can you give a gift to someone to help with an insult?
Alara Dawnchaser
One question, Masamune: I looked back through the combat we've been through, and apparently you Power Attacked a lot in fights. Looking over your sheet, I couldn't find hide nor hair of the Power Attack feat. Did you retrain it or something?
Masamune Mitsuhide
Yeah, I retrained it into weapon finesse. I have found that I extremely dislike the katana as it seems a much worse alternative to the bastard sword, but since samurai can't get the bastard sword as one of their "free" weapon feats I'm going with a slightly more dex based build. I do plan on getting Power Attack later on though.
Masamune Mitsuhide
Masamune still uses a sword he just doesn't use such a large one right now. Also, it was my understanding that Bill was letting us change our characters if we didn't like the feel or direction of them as we were leveling up to 2.
Bill Dunn

I guess I'm not really seeing how it's much worse considering it's only one die smaller but has a better critical threat range. If you have no plans on heading up the improved critical chain (eventually), then I can see the threat range not being a plus, but the overall damage difference is actually very small.
Sharrd
So are we taking 150gp a piece (5 characters chipping into a 750gp Item) to get the wand? If true then Sharrd's share is 222.27 gp. Sharrd has Use Magic Device but it is nominal so either Ash or Piper should carry the wand.
How much does the skyrocket weigh?
Sharrd is also going to look into acquiring a Potion of Air Bubble and a Potion of Touch of the Sea if available.
Bill Dunn
A skyrocket weighs 1 pound.
There are currently no potions of air bubble or touch of the sea available in town. But, upon inquiring, 'Pillbug' Podiker at the Pillbug's Pantry (his real name is Aliver but everyone calls him Pillbug) offers to make one of touch of the sea by the next morning (air bubble isn't one he has access to). For 50 gp, of course.
Bill Dunn
I was just thinking, if Masamune is the only PC going up the rivalry/competition route for NPC relationships, he may have it tougher figuring out what's a good insult. The rest of you might be able to infer what makes a good gift by observing the other PCs, but he really can't.
So I'm going give Masamune another button to push on one of the NPCs to partly compensate.
Masamune Mitsuhide
As am I. Also, thank you for the help since I will be trying to offer everybody the chance to see both sides of every relationship so that we can all see the full personality of each person. I don't want to be the rival in all situations, but I figure that it might be fun to have someone pursuing that path while the others go the friend path.

There are some good benefits up that trail too as the relationships deepen. So, no worries, just expect to get insulted back. ;)

I would also like to move the plot forward sometime soon, but tonight or tomorrow I would like to make a couple of quick comments here and there...if we have moved forward, i'll put them in spoilers, but I'm at work and can't check the players guide from here.
