I figure that I would go rival with some people. Just need to wait for them to appear. I mean, it can't be just Ameiko, Sandru, Shalelu, and Koya, right? I've seen threads about building relationships with some of the other NPCs.

I would also like to get some comments in before we move on.

Woo, escaped the sick house (which is my house). At least so far. You'd think that taking care of a 9 year old home sick with a stomach bug would give me time to get online. Heck no. But now he's back at school and it's my wife home sick now. Fortunately, she doesn't really need my supervision.

By the way, with Koya being a Varisian fortune teller, she can give Harrow readings. I have a Harrow deck (at home) and even have some graphic files of the cards. I can kit up a reading if anybody asks her for one. It will be a bit of laborious process so I'd ask that you not jump for one all at once.

I will run the reading more or less straight as dealt but I reserve the right to work in some special ringer cards to foreshadow expected campaign events. What's the fun of doing fortune telling in an AP if you can't foreshadow?

That's awesome Bill, I can't wait for the new book to come out, at which point I will be grabbing the deck myself!

I had not asked, I don't believe, before now....what is your stance on wands and who can use them? PFS rules or Standard rules?

Is there difference between who can use them in PFS and standard rules? If there is, I'm not aware of one.

In PFS if a spell is on your spell list and it is an activation item, you can use it.

In standard rules a wand made by a wizard is only usable by arcane casters who have the spell on their list. Vice versa for divine.

Yeah, I'm reasonably lax on that. Arcane/divine won't matter so much as long as it's on your spell list. Same with scrolls as far as I'm concerned.

Just so you know, on Saturday, I'll be working from late morning to early afternoon. And on Sunday, I'll be spending the day with my family. So posting may be sporadic since I'll be dependent on my phone.

On the subject of critical hits and sneak attacks - Pathfinder did expand the list of things that are subject to crits and various forms of precision damage. Most undead are now vulnerable, as are constructs and plants. Oozes are still immune as are creatures with the subtypes elemental, incorporeal, and swarm. So while undead, in general, are now vulnerable, incorporeal undead like shadows and wraiths still are not.

I think this whole issue is very interesting from a game design standpoint. The original concept of precision damage and crits almost certainly assumed issues like bleeding and shock were part and parcel of the damage, and so creatures without vulnerable living systems were excluded - such as undead and constructs. I think that's an entirely reasonable approach from a simulation point of view, but it doesn't work very well from a game-play point of view because if there any types of creatures that are thematic, it's undead. Undead adventures and campaigns feature a lot of them - and that's a long time for a high-crit character or a sneak attacker to feel gimped. So Paizo shifted some of the assumptions in the simulation - allowing creatures that may not have vulnerable organs but which may have vulnerable physical structures to be affected.

I think Paizo came to this realization during their 3.5 D&D Age of Worms adventure path. It was very heavily populated with the undead.

Interesting. I came in to Pathfinder from a 3.5 ed. background when they changed to 4th and I have never noticed that undead can take crits. Learn something new every day. I'm probably going to get thrown from the balcony when I tell my players that I've had it wrong for such a long time:)

I added a 'dancing lights' icon to your map Bill to help with determining where the illumination is. If you mind just delete it. Sharrd will have to stop every 2 minutes or so and recast the spell.

Heck no, I don't mind. That's good thinking for a mobile spell (would also be good for flaming sphere). In fact, if interested, we could make a few spell area templates too.

Yes, Happy Easter to one and all!

There was a church supply store in the area that put up a sign saying "Happy
Easter." Some wag rearranged the letters into "Happy Teaser" and it stayed up for over a year. I wish I had a photo.?

Okay. I was bored and decided to do some research on a topic that Alara and I have discussed. When are the solstices? We brought this up due to the fact that a couple holidays for our religions take place during the solstices. After reading and researching, the real life solstices lie on the first day of summer and winter, respectively. So, taking this into account, Crystalhue (Shelyn) would take place on the first day of winter (the first day of Kuthona) and the Ritual of Stardust (Desna) would take place on the first day of summer (the first day of Sarenith) and the first day of winter (the first day of Kuthona).

...wow, how much of nerd am I? -_-'

Going by the Inner Sea World Guide, that would make sense.

And hey, we're all nerds here. :)

So, two more months in game until the Ritual of Starlight. Wonder if Bill will let us RP it?

I hope so.

P.S. Speaking of which... Bill? Sharrd? You there?

Yep, just had kind of a busy weekend volunteering at a lacrosse tournament and then catching up on work. I'll post in the game play thread momentarily...

I was very sick this weekend with a stomach flu and have spent the last two days trying to catch up. Sorry.

That sounds truly unpleasant. Hope you're feeling much better.

I recommend we pull back and engage the samurai in wider quarters. We need to surround him and beat him into the dirt.

And I have to say, I'm really missing William right now...

Hah! Nice use of resolve, Masamune. Very dramatic moment.

Due to my workload unexpectedly increasing in real life, I'm afraid that I'm going to have to drop all my PBEMs, including this one. I feel horrible about it, this is truly one of the more enjoyable games I have been involved in. Best of Luck to you all and Bill, Thank you very much. You are a great GM!

Oh, no! That's unfortunate. I'm sorry to see you go. Personal stuff has to come before an online game, so I understand the need. Best of luck to getting all that work done, though.

Sorry I haven't posting very quickly. Work's been very busy lately. Deadline coming up. Ugh.

As far as replacing Sharrd (you probably want some kind of arcane caster about), shall I post a player wanted message? Any criteria you want him or her to fill?

Female Elf Ninja 3 | HP: 15/19 | AC 16/13 (Touch & Flat-Footed) | Saves: +2 Fort, +7 Reflex, +1 Will (+2 vs. enchantments) | Initiative: +3 | Perception: +8 | Sense Motive: +3|Ki Pool: 3/4

That's what I'm wondering too. To be honest, I wouldn't object to having a new arcane caster in the party.

As for criteria, here's what I'd like in a new caster:

1) No Evil alignment. Perhaps this is already a given, but Evil characters have a bad habit of causing problems for the group.

2) Having a decent posting rate. This is also perhaps a given, but it'd still be appropriate.

...I thought I had more than that, but that's all I can really think of.
