Luurg's Chuffy

Chuffy grits his teeth and does what he likes to do oh so much.
STAB: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 5 + 2 = 111d4 - 1 + 1d6 ⇒ (1) - 1 + (2) = 2
He celebrates wildly even though he wasn't very useful. "YEEEWAAHH!!
pregen Crowe
I'm not threatening an AoO and the candle won't go off again until next round.
Mogmurch laughs at the stupid manylegs. "My dogslicer got you!"

With many swift slashes, the goblins cut into the fleeing monster! It falls with a clatter of legs and a spray of ichor!
Survival checks! It seems the monster spider might have a lair she was trying to flee to! Can you find it?
pregen Crowe
Mogmurch has a look around for signs of the spidee's lair.
survival: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Our Mysterious Benefactor
Chuffy's keen eyes spot a trail the spider followed pretty often and cautiously follows! The lair itself consists of a deadfall of several old trees. Scattered amid the trees are dozens of bodies, some of which are goblins, but a few of which are humans. Searching locates the following items among the bodies: 24 gp, a Small masterwork light crossbow with 11 bolts, a single pearl worth 100 gp, 2 potions of cure moderate wounds, a potion of bull’s strength, a potion of bear’s endurance, and a wax-paper-sealed package containing six pieces of licorice-flavored taffy.
Luurg's Chuffy

Chuffy smiles and snatches up his prize, the crossbow and bolts "Chuffy find trail, Chuffy get stick shooter first prize! And... some of this stuff!" He grabs a piece of the taffy and sniffs it, stuffing it into his mouth and chewing. Soon he starts to grunt and groan as he teeth become cemented together.
pregen Crowe
Mogmurch frowns and says, "Manylegs not save anything for me!" He snatches up a healing potion and storms off.

Packing up your gains, you stomp off in the direction indicated on the map. The point indicated on Scribbleface’s map isn’t quite on the coast, but it’s close enough to hear the faint susurrus of waves crashing on an unseen swampy shoreline. The site itself is obvious once it is approached—a large wrecked ship lodged in a shallow pool of swamp water. Driven aground decades ago during a particularly violent storm that flung the ship several hundred feet into the flooded swamp, the ship itself is a two-masted Chelish sailing vessel with strange, faded writing on its bow.
A two-masted ship lies mired in the mud in this clearing, its rigging thick with moss and decorated with lanterns and windchimes made from goblin skulls and bones. Strange writing is faintly visible along the ship’s prow, while the soggy, swampy “yard” that surrounds the wreck is encircled by a rickety wooden fence. A thin curl of smoke wafts up from a chimney that protrudes from an unusual box-like structure near the ship's bow.
Even worse, a great huge creature, bigger even than the horse you slew at Magical Maggie's caravan, stalks the yard. It is shaggy and ugly and its eye glow faintly with evil fire. It snorts as it spots you and begins making deep growly chuffing sounds at you!
Luurg's Chuffy
|
Chuffy looks at the enormous mean, scary creature and hollers out in Goblin for a tactical redeployment "Run Away come back later! Run Away come back later!" He urges the others to retreat into the safety of the nearby forest.
Our Mysterious Benefactor
The horse-demon (for it must be some sort of demon, right?) snorts and lets out a long whinny of anger. It stomps the ground and its hooves throw up small clouds of dirt. It clearly is not a fan of goblins.
What now?
pregen Crowe
Mogmurch screeches, "Stupid horse! You need to cook your tasty meat!" and lobs a firy bomb at it.

Seeing as no one wants to be sneaky about it Chuffy curses and turns and fires his stabby shooter into the demon horse.

Our Mysterious Benefactor
Reflex: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
The horse screams as fire explodes on it, a bolt thunks into it and finally a wave of fire erupts around it! It collapses to the ground with a scream and a last whinny of pain/anger/hate! It twitches twice and is still, leaving you with a very dead horse to beat.
Beyond the fence, now unprotected by demonic horse-demons of demonic origin, the sunken ship now waits, with a wisp of smoke emitting from its smokestack.
Luurg's Chuffy
|
Chuffy reloads his shooty stabber then does his best to sneak under the fence to take an imaginary selfy with the dead horse, and to make sure it is indeed dead. If only Chief could see us now!
After he gets the proper angle to avoid his bad side (The bulk of his pimples and sores and that pesky double chin), he sneaks his way to the hut and tries to peek in a window or through a crack in the wall.
Stealth: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (9) + 16 = 25
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
Our Mysterious Benefactor
Reta boldly jumps the fence and moves in, ready for anything! Chuffy sneaks up to the nearest gap in the wooden walls of the ship. The air in this cabin is thick and close, stinking of swamp and sweat, with a thick, glistening layer of mud on the floor and swaths of oily fungus clinging to the walls. Even more dangling decorations of goblin bone and animal-part fetishes hang from the ceiling on lengths of sinew here, and what appears to be a nest made of rags, sticks, mud, and castoff bits of clothing lies against the westernmost wall. But scattered amid the filth and clutter are several exotic-looking man-made objects—including a tantalizing red chest. A tuneless goblin humming is coming from somewhere inside, as if your goblin grandma was making cookies, only the smell is tantalizing... It smells like Mogmurch after he's singed himself with his own bombs....
However, Chuffy realizes he will have to climb the ladder onto the main deck if he wants to get inside.
Luurg's Chuffy

Chuffy gets impatient waiting on everyone and continues sneakily up the ladder to take a look.
Stealth: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (6) + 16 = 22
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
He waves at the others frantically to move their goblin asses!
Edit: Take 10 on climb for a 13 if needed.
pregen Crowe
Mogmurch heads to the ladder to climb up onto the deck. "Mogmurch not scared to go into boat!" He knows his special ring prize will make it easier.

A vine-choked gangplank with a mossy handrail descends sharply from the ship’s bow to the muddy ground below. One handrail seems to be encrusted with a large ball of dried mud. Chuffy heads up, his foot catching one of the vines with a light tug. He snarls and pulls his foot free, as Mogmurch scrambles up after him!
Reta and Poog, Climb checks, please!
On deck, there is another ladder-stair heading up that you must scramble up to, and then down from to get to the main cabin. Above Chuffy hears the unmistakeable sound of doggy snores!
Our Mysterious Benefactor
Reta clambers up, while Poog has problems climbing the vine caked ladder. Unfortunately, his troubles get a lot worse as a large wasp next plummets from the railing toward him! Poog can try to grab the next with a Reflex save or he can run!
Our Mysterious Benefactor
The hive explodes with a loud angry buzzing as wasps shoot in all directions! Reta and Mogmurch are unluckily enough to be near! Fort Saves as you get stung!
pregen Crowe
fort: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
Mogmurch slaps at the wasps, shouting, "Stupid bugs no sting Mogmurch!"
Our Mysterious Benefactor
Reta Fort: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
Both Mogmurch and Reta are able to slap away enough of the wasps to avoid any debilitating poison and even Poog creeps back as the swarm dissipates. Chuffy creeps up the ladder to see two mangy curs lying chained to the masts. Their chains look to be around 10' long.
Luurg's Chuffy

Chuffy waits impatiently for the others to get done playing with the flies before he motions to creep up to the sleeping dogs and then gives the gesture of his thumb across his throat pointing at the dogs. Bluff(Pass Message): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10 Hopefully those whelps understand us King, they pretty dumb some times.
He creeps up to attempt to murder it in its sleep with his crossbow. Stealth: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (15) + 16 = 31
He waits at the ready for Reta to do the same then strikes!
Not sure if he gets a CDG or not, but I'll roll and just use the damage if he does.
Crossbow vs prone/sleeping doggie: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 261d6 + 1d6 + 1d6 ⇒ (4) + (2) + (2) = 8
Confirm? Crossbow vs prone/sleeping doggie: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 81d6 + 1d6 ⇒ (4) + (3) = 7
Ok, I made the assumption I could CDG, if not remove the last d6 from the first roll of damage, that was the auto crit. Then I rolled a nat 20 to make things more confusing. I didn't add in any penalties/bonuses just my attack bonus.
Our Mysterious Benefactor
With a shot and a stab the two mangy dogs die. You stand on the main deck. Below you in the main cabin, through whose window you heard the goblin song. Above you is a small cabin. Which way?
Luurg's Chuffy
|
Chuffy continues to sneak along towards the small cabin above, waving the other gobbies to follow quietly. He reloads his stabby shooter before heading out.
Bluff(Pass Message): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10 He continues to make strange gestures involving pointing and thumbs and what seems to be a three toed sloth at the other goblins but he doesn't seem to get his point across.
Chuffy looks and listens as he goes for more sleeping things to stab. Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
Our Mysterious Benefactor
Chuffy climbs up the ladder to the small cabin. The door is partially open so he can see inside. This room is a blood-splattered chamber of horror. Dead rodents, snakes, and birds have been variously nailed, tied, and hung around the walls. At the far end of the room, a large cauldron bubbles over an iron stove set against the aft wall, its stovepipe chimney extending up through the ceiling. A bloody burlap sack sits on the floor next to the stove. The center of the room contains a long, rickety table surrounded by chairs that contain several grisly decorations—a whole family of skeletal goblins, their bones bleached white and bound together by reeds and twine.
pregen Crowe
Mogmurch creeps into the cabin behind the others. He can't resist checking out the cauldron and the bag, ignoring the skeletons for now.

Chuffy heads inside as well, but not before trading out his stabby shooter for his dogslicer seeing the cramped space inside.
He keeps his eyes and ears open as he creeps inside Take 10 on both perception and stealth: 15 and 26
Our Mysterious Benefactor
Mogmurch creeps into the cabin, followed close by Chuffy. He begins riffling through the bag, but doesn't notice the great big mangy hound sleeping next to it, who comes awake with a growl and a lunge at the goblin! However, before Mog gets chomped, he looks into the bag and sees a goblin face, tattooed with forbidden words, staring back at him! Scribbleface's dead eyes pay mute tribute to the fact that writing doesn't pay!

Chuffy, Poog and Reta are up!
Luurg's Chuffy

"Eeek! Big dog!" Squeeks Chuffy nervously. Seeing the dog surrounded by Reta and Mogmurch Chuffy's brain turns with a click. He takes a step, drops his sword and grabs up a chair from around the table and uses it to push over the bubbling pot from the stove top down on to the dog.
Trying something different here...
Our Mysterious Benefactor
Reta carves into the vicious dog, while Chuffy decides to knock the stewpot over! Reflex: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21 The dog manages to leap to the side and only takes half 2d6 ⇒ (2, 4) = 6 damage! Still the floor is now covered with boiled goblin bones and fat and steams with heat!
The red square is filled. Anyone ending their turn here takes 1d6 ⇒ 4 fire damage!
Poog is up!
Our Mysterious Benefactor
NPCingPoog flings a fire bolt at the mangy cur! Fire bolt!: 1d20 + 3 - 4 ⇒ (4) + 3 - 4 = 3 for 1d6 ⇒ 6 fire! His fire bolt goes wide and hits the wall, setting a small fire in some baskets!
"Uh-oh." he mutters as the wooden structure begins to smolder.
CUDDLES THE DEADY lets out a vicious woof of anger and pain and lunges at Reta, his slavering maw open to devour the goblin warrior! MAW!: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12 for 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8 damage! Reta manages to get her dogslicer between the teeth and her delicate throat as the dog's fur begins to boil and bubble from the stew's heat!
Mogmurch is up, then Reta, Chuffy and Poog for Round 2!
pregen Crowe
Mogmurch steps back out of the fire, then sings, "Mogmurch not burn. Stupid tasty dog burn! Stay, stupid dog!" and throws his tanglefoot bag at the dog, hoping to stick it in place in the fire.
