Even though it hit Talia before she doesn't seem to feel the cold from it(resistance). This time she focuses more of her mind on defending herself than attacking and it seems to work as the elemental fails to hit her further. Nearby, Kelvar rushes up and puts a hand on the mast, a flash of light zips up it and begins shining at the top, illuminating the ice mephit for all to see. "Doom!" you swear you can understand several of Kargeld's sailors cry as they see it. Unlike the Sailors, Rose is not afraid of it and moves up to the mast. "Stay away," it says, "Last warning." The mephit blinks away the sudden light in its face. Feeling threatened, it points at Rose and 2 magic missiles shoot from its fingers and slam into her(9 force damage).

Marvin is now facing off against the elemental on his own and lands a serious hit, augmented with lightning magic, one of its arms shatters from the impact.

Kargeld splits the other elemental in two from top to bottom and it crumbles to the deck, shards falling everywhere.

Talia finds a chink in the elemental's defense, chipping away at its frozen form in several places. It is slowing down a little and you deftly maneuver around its attacks.

Marvin destroys the last smaller elemental with more lightning channeled through his staff.

The mephit cackles as the Doctor's shot goes way wide but he doesn't like Rose climbing up the mast. "I warned you. You... you fiend." He fills his lungs with the northern air and blows it down in a cone towards everyone(Rose, Kelvar, Doctor, Talia) in the centre of the ship(7 cold damage and sickened for 3 rounds, Reflex DC 15 to half damage and negate sickened effect).

The shards from the 2 recently destroyed elementals are flying towards the middle of the ship, colliding together into a growing nucleus of ice. They will soon form another bigger elemental as the others did.

Kargeld throws one of his throwing axes but whatever he was aiming at, the axe bites into the mast 15ft. up. A terrible throw.

A 50 foot cone? Holy crap, I didn't think Ice Mephits were that powerful.

Reflex: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12

Kelvar feels the chill of the mephit's breath enter his bones, and begins to feel queasy from the icy cold. Still, he cannot allow himself to falter, and looks to take down the existing elemental before the other can form. Pulling out his shield, he studies it before speaking a word of infernal and hurling his axe towards it before the blade returns to his hand.

Swift action: draw quickdraw shield. Move action: Studied target on the medium elemental. Standard: Hand of the Acolyte.

Unfortunately, he missed the target of the beast.

Rose tucked her head letting the blizzard wash over her. She looked up with a blistering glare, completely unscathed.

She quickly pulled herself another fifteen feet up the mast. That puts me at 45 feet. If this thing is on top of the mast, I should be ten feet away.

GM, normally I can draw a weapon as part of a move action, but I'm not sure if I can do it while climbing. Can I get a yay or nay before I take my standard action?

I'm guessing a 24 hits the elemental's touch AC, so Talia wouldn't actually take any damage.

The Mephit freezes as Rose gets closer then he hops up and spreads his wings from his perch. The fact that she ignored his freezing breath is alarming. Her words vibrate through his brain and seemingly against his will he uses his outstretched wings to fly down instead of up. Now it is shivering, but not from the cold.

Down below the fight continues. A bomb almost completely melts the first elemental and damages the reforming one. Talia leaves her target barely holding together. It feebly attempts to strike back at her. The second one finishes reforming into another medium sized elemental next to Kelvar. It slams him, forcing him back a few steps(7 damage, 1 cold damage, DC 14 fort or staggered for 1 round). Kargeld comes over to retrieve his throwing axe. "I've had enough of these things on my ship!"

Annoyed by how these creatures just didn't want to stay down, the Doctor throws yet another bomb at them, conscious that he only had a few left if they wished to use it on the creature still annoyingly high up.

I guess I'll aim at the more healthy looking of the two.

Their touch is 10. Luckily only Kelvar is in the splash on that side of the elemental.

Kelvar and Talia lay into the newest elemental, its reactions too slow to avoid the incoming attacks. It stumbles, causing the incoming bomb to just miss but can't avoid the fire of the explosion. They both fall as Marvin cracks one open with his staff and Kargeld splits the other with his axe. Even as they fall the splinters and shards of ice begin fusing together again into 1 creature.

Above, the Mephit cries out as it is frozen in its tracks as Rose's evil magic burns through it.

Kelvar barely notices the heat from the bomb as he avoids the worst of it. Seeing the shards begin to pull together, he groans. "Timeon, Grumblejack, help us smash these ice creatures!"

He then studies the fusing ice creature and starts slashing into it.

After touching the creature with her burning hand, she just closed her hand around it's neck.

Provokes an AoO, if the Mehit wants to try to hit back. ANy damage I take becomes a penalty on my attack roll, but I'm bnking on this thing either not being able to hit me with it's Shaken penalty, or not being able to do enough damage to make a difference.

If I manage to grapple it, I use my move action to climb down. (How hard would it be to slide down the mast or a rope?)

Eye twitching as the creature continues to refuse to die, the Doctor takes a step away and then fires his crossbow at it.

Didn't realize I was quite so close, so taking a 5ft step away before firing. I forget if I fired already this combat (probably have), so if so I'll use my move action to reload.

Talia, Kelvar, Marvin and the Doctor chip away at the elemental still forming. It has become the size of the last two but is still growing, now 6ft. tall. It also seems tougher, your weapons not breaking off as much ice anymore. The Doctor's crossbow bolt just bounces off. This doesn't sit well with Kargeld and he wields his greataxe high above his head and with a great yell and anger in his eyes he cracks open the elemental. Even that does not destroy it as this strange ice gestalt keeps growing. Grumblejack complains about the cold and does not come to help you, "Too cold to fight. Grumblejack can't feel toes..." Not a sounds is heard from wherever Timeon might be hiding.

Up in the mast Rose reaches out and grasps the mephit through his feeble attempts to ward her off. It struggles to get out of her grasp as she pulls it with her, making pathetic, desperate, strangled noises. hmm well you cannot 'climb' without 2 hands free but sliding down I will allow. The DC is 5 and you have a -5 penalty because of the grapple. Half speed(15ft.) which means you could just make it to the deck if you make the climb checks. You could take another -5 to use accelerated climbing too.

Grimacing as the elemental grows even bigger and the crossbow bolt seems to do nothing, the Doctor throws another bomb after stepping further away.

Bomb crit is only an extra 1d6+mods. The bonus d6's from leveling up do not get multiplied.

The elemental starts to move as Talia and Kelvar attack it again. It is about to take a swipe at both of you when the Doctor's bomb covers it in flames. It is powerless against fire and the heat is too much, fracturing its core and shattering it across the deck. Its life essence has finally been sent back to where it belongs as the ice evaporates mid-air. Rose lands where it would have stood after sliding down the mast with a terrified ice mephit held around the neck in one hand. It keeps struggling to escape. "What is that and why is it alive?" Kargeld demands. You notice the temperature rise a little from the extreme cold that arrived shortly after the Mephit.

Oops, I'll keep that in mind. Never actually crit on a bomb before.

"Finally..." The Doctor mutters as the giant ice creature disintegrates. He quickly reloads his crossbow and then waits to see what Rose intended to do with the foolish creature that thought it could stand against them. Crossbow or bomb? Bomb is better, but I suppose it would be bad if I started a mutiny with the explosive bomb if I missed and hit the captain before we get to our destination.

Readied action to shoot the mephit with a crossbow bolt if it gets away from Rose.

Kelvar studies the mephit before answering Kargeld, "It is an Ice Mephit. It's an extraplanar creature with a certain amount of ice control who apparently decided it would be fun to torment our voyage. As to why it's alive, well, I can't say it will be for much longer." Kelvar tightens his grip on his axe.

Rose pulled a pair of manacles out of her pack. One side of them she clipped around the mephit's wings and arms, cranking down tight. The other side, she clipped to her own wrist.

The Doctor moves a little closer, twirling one of his explosive vials slowly in one hand. "You know...I've always been curious to see what would happen if I shook one of these up and then poured it down someone's throat before its exothermic reaction had reached completion..." The light from the mast causes his glaces to gleam, hiding his eyes as he adjusts them.

Combat is over.

"Ok, I won't tell a soul. I promise on my master's life. No need to kill me. Perhaps a ransom? I'm very important." He shivers at the Doctor's suggestion, knowing his reaction to fire would be severe.

Kargeld goes about rousing his men from their hiding places. "Get up ya cowards. You shouldn't be shivering. This is hardly the worst cold you've experienced. Perhaps I should throw you overboard and hire some worthy sailors instead." They quickly scrambled back to their posts.

It's still night time while you are interacting with the mephit.

Leaving the mephit to Rose and the Doctor, Kelvar moves to roust Timeon from wherever he's hiding. Once he finds the lad, he tells him, "Get up, you cowardly whelp. I thought we'd finally made some progress with you, but clearly not."

"Well, uh. I would need to summon my brother to deliver the message. What are your demands?"

Timeon whimpers in the cold, complaining of feeling numb. You discover he has a bit of frostbite on his toes.

Kelvary shakes his head at Timeon. "If you'd gotten up to fight and move, you'd feel warmer. Movement is warmth. Remember it." Pulling a couple of the seal pelts, he hands them over to Timeon and says, "Use these for blankets. They'll help preserve your warmth. I'll see if the Doctor knows how to treat frostbite."

Once the Doctor and Rose are done with the Mephit, Kelvar will wave the Doctor over to take a look at Timeon's toes.

"Well until I know who your master is, I don't know what kinds of demands I can make, now do I?" Rose said sitting down against one of the weapon crates and setting the mephit cuffed to her on her knee.

The Doctor narrows his eyes at 'summon my brother'. "I don't think he knows anything of use to us. Perhaps we should just kill him." It was said slightly more for the mephit's benefit than as an actual suggestion. But still, he did not trust the creature.

The Doctor goes over to inspect Timeon. Really, what on earth was Lady Rose thinking bringing this useless waste of space along?

"I was so scared I couldn't move. But then it got even colder." Timeon says as he shivers under the furs. He is also too cold to focus on anything Talia says. If you also check on Grumblejack it seems he is ok and warming up just fine.

"Of course you do not know. My master is <long Auran name>. That means heart of ice and drinker of his enemies blood." He goes on and is probably exaggerating a few things but it sounds like whoever his master is is quite influential in his part of the plane of air.
