Seren Little |

Seren walks out of her room, bored of the silence and sleep escaping her, She ponders for a moment where to go; not willing to risk going downstairs and having to deal with Captain Eddard again. She cautiously knocks on Nahia's door, and tries to open it a crack. "Knock, knock. you busy?" Seren inquires through the door.
Thinking this may give us some time to RP and keep active while the rest of the party (minus Sourat) deals with the soldiers below.

Nahia |

Hearing Seren's voice as she emerges from her bath, Nahia responds back "One minute..." as she quickly puts on her black gossamer gown. Opening the door for Seren, Nahia smiles and says "I'm not busy currently... just preparing for some work... come on in, your company is welcome." Nahia genuinely smiles at Seren as she whisks her inside.
As Nahia begins to get things from her chest of supplies, things like chalk, her sickle, honey, and some various... odds and ends... she will also turn to Seren and ask "Need anything while I am rummaging? A drink or maybe something sweet?"
Sounds good to me. Better than my idea of posting up a dream sequence. : )

Fausto |

Once Rose has lead the poor fool to his doom, mysty says to Fausto, some help tonight would be useful. I wish to investigate the basement here, tonight. Tomorrow we should case the temple. But it is sneaky, sneaky. No kills unless absolutely needed. Or deserved.
Fausto nods, "Understood; I'll even leave my armor and axe in my room. Just knives, eh?"
He looks at the bartender, "Should we get caught, we'll just say that you wandered off and I'm looking for you. But it will be OK."

![]() |

Mysty smiles. it's a plan She hops down from her chair. I'm heading to my room. When the inn closes, we will proceed. She then heads upstairs.

Sourat |

The keep would be no place for him to visit. Not like this, not right now. He'd have to dig up the dirt on the Father some other way. Sourat sat down and watched the towns folk come and go. Like his thoughts, they went about their lives, some leaving the gates of his mind as they weren't of use, others hanging around to do business. Yes, perhaps that was the answer. Business. But he had little to no experience with being a liar. Before his word was law and if it wasn't, he'd keep his mouth shut. "Hmrpf.." he groaned. The man got up and went to walk about town, getting an impression of the place they were trying to call doom upon.
And who knows, maybe he'd stumble upon something.
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 20

DM Aku |

Sourat spend the day observing the town and the way to the tower.
He saw several merchants heading in the tower way, normal looking peasants, probably servants. Eleven dwarfs and several posts about a play bound to happen in Aldencross, it’s a shame that normal folks can’t go. The play is exclusive for soldiers and it will happen inside the watchtower.
After expending the day observing the place, he returns to the Inn, to found the place crowded. Lots of soldiers dancing and drinking. At one table, Lady and Fausto talking to each other. Nahia and Seren nowhere to be seem.
If no one want’s to do anything anymore. I’ll move to Mysty sneaking.

Sourat |

Promising. A disguise might see one or more of them in, or perhaps one of the women could charm a soldier to take her with him to it. I have to tell the others about this.
The man throws a glance at the couple and extends his hand outward, making a gesture akin to asking if he may take a seat at their table.

Seren Little |

"Something sweet?" Seren mentions curiously. "well I'm Intrigued. One of those please." A pleasant smile on her face as she watches Nahia prepare the drink.
She meanders over to the bed and plops down limply, letting her muscles relax.
"So what are your first impressions of our new acquaintances?" She asks, watching with fascination as Nahia pulls out the tools of her trade.
That looks like a lot of work...

Nahia |

Nahia grins when Seren asks for something sweet. Taking out a small bottle of mead, Nahia will prepare a small glass, rubbing honey around the inner and outer rim. Handing the drink to Seren, Nahia takes some chalk and begins tracing her array upon the floor.
"They are... interesting. I know I act the part of a noble but Lady Rose seems to be one heart and soul. That concerns me when it comes to our group dynamics and I'm not so sure I agree with some of her philosophy. I hope she is easy to work with... The two men, I haven't seen enough of to be able to tell, but Fausto seems eager, which is good... I think? The other one... Sourat was it? He seems... ill. I wonder if he is really up to the task of all of this?" Nahia looks up at Seren sometimes as she talks, switching between trying to gauge Seren's reaction and measuring out the exact positions of the features of her array.
"As for Mysty, I haven't seen much of her so far, but she seems like she could be a lot of fun. And her skills, assuming she is any good at them, will be helpful too. Overall, I trust that the Cardinal knows what he is doing, but I have to wonder what his concerns are that he gave us this group to work with." Nahia says with more curiosity than concern. She reaches over and takes a sip from a glass of water, and frowns. Glancing towards Seren, Nahia reaches out and nonchalantly take her glass, takes a sip from it, then returns it with a grin.
"And what about you? How do you feel about all of this?" Nahia asks, giving Seren her full attention.

Seren Little |

Seren looks at Nahia with mock outrage as she takes her glass, laughs, and takes a drink as Nahia passes it back.
"They seem...ohh." The sentence dying on her lips as Seren stares awestruck at the glass in her hand. "umm, ya they... This is really good. like you've ruined other drinks for me good."
Seren sits back, savouring the drinks, a content smile on her face as she cradles the glass with her hands. A content "mmmmm" escapes her as she lifts the glass to her lips reverently, taking a long slow drawn out sip. Life is good.
"Sorry. Companions. Not this godly thing. Dear Asmodeus this is good. Right, back to question. Honestly, I'm not sure. I mean I get why they're here. I don't really understand why Zerik and Erik bailed like they did but fine, and this new group seems frankly more capable then that pair. They did like stop swords with their faces a lot those two." Seren chuckles, recalling some of their prior adventures.
Seren sits back contemplating why the Cardinal would send this particular group while enjoying her drink.
"About this new group. Well I'm not sure about you but I'm certainly not the sneakiest person in the world. I think I went about 3 feet before bumping into a table trying to escape that damn Captain Eddard downstairs." Seren says laughing at her memories. "Not my smoothest moment."
"Nor am I particularly great at hunting things or being in the wild. I mean a girl has to worry about her complexion and what the sun could do to it." She says laughingly.
"And what is it with men and not wanting to socialize? Feel like I know barely anything about Sourat. At least I've had a chance to talk with Lady Rose and Mysty. ohh, I feel a rant coming on. Nope can't ruin this drink with being angry... but ya, I think we're going to have some fun with those girls." Seren says with a laugh.
Seren takes another long drink before looking down at her empty glass, a look of horror and great loss on her face. "No, no, no, you can't be finished yet. There was so much more of you I wanted to drink...sigh." She intones, her shoulder slumped in defeat.
"You will be missed fine drink." She says, placing the glass on the nightstand. She looks over at Nahia, twisting her head, trying to determine just what she is drawing on the floor.
"What are your plans for tomorrow? I know I'm going to go see the good Captain Varning off in the morning, but not totally sure what I plan to do with the rest of the day."

Nahia |

Nahia smiles at Seren enjoying the drink.
I had not thought she would be one for sweets, especially given her outward personality. That is something good to know.
Nahia laughs abruptly at Seren's comment, a streak of chalk going wide. Nahia licks her thumb and removes the errant line, responding "Well, yes, but any sword they stopped with their face was one that I didn't stop with mine. I do hope that the new group is just as hardy."
Nahia listens to Seren speak of her... lack of skills with sympathy, nodding and responding with "They aren't exactly my best traits either. I can get along in some wilds... adequately..., having spent some of my youth in a swamp, but I am not stealthy, nor good with a blade or bow, nor good with devices. I'm still probably one of the weakest links in the group, after seeing our new companions. But I trust that I will make myself useful and that Asmodeus, possibly though you and the others, will protect me as best he can." Nahia will bow her head and make the sign of the five pointed start over her heart.
Nahia nods along and smiles with Seren's comments about their companions, before replying "Trust me, I've met many, many men that are perfectly willing to spend night after night telling you about themselves. Though I'm not necessarily saying that the... taciturn nature of our companions is any better. And yes, I agree, it would be nice to travel with some that were in the middle." Nahia stares off and thinks for a moment before adding "Though, to be honest, it isn't like you were all that forward with information about yourself at first. At least not until we knew each other for a couple of months... Maybe they'll be more sociable when they come to trust us... or understand us... better." Nahia ends her comments with a shrug.
Nahia then giggles softly at Seren's great loss, saying "I have some more, but maybe we should save it for later. Who knows when I might be able to pick up undiluted mead like that again. Maybe save it to celebrate the completion of our assignment?"
Seeing Seren look at her array, it still in its early stages, Nahia smiles and goes back to work on it, remembering that she needs to do this and get some adequate rest. "I didn't have any plans for tomorrow. I figured we would gather and make some decisions in the morning. I've still got some prep work to do before we make a big move, but today's time with Andros, and this right here, will make me nearly ready. And what I do have left I should be able to finish tomorrow night before bed." Nahia says as she starts tracing the outer ring of arcane sigils.
Nahia breaks her writing to look back at Seren, and ask "While you said you didn't have plans, did you have any suggestions for tomorrow afternoon?"

Seren Little |

Seren laughs aloud as Nahia discusses her time with men.
"Well I mean I've had men tell me their whole life stories, hell I've convinced men to tell me life stories that clearly aren't theirs, but then it usually involved a knife and me having far too much fun." Seren explains, a wicked grin on her face.
"I suppose you are correct though. I definetly haven't been the most forthcoming with my anything about myself yet, curse you and making me see things from someone else's perspective." She scold Nahia.
Looking over at her finished glass. "That's probably for the best...Too much more of that and I'm pretty sure I would do anything you say for more." Seren laughs.
"hmm. I'm not sure how much more information we can pull from these citizens. Hopefully Lady will be able to deal with Eddard and Mott tomorrow with her grand plans. umm, perhaps tomorrow we might introduce ourselves to some of the servants of the castle. Start building some contacts to get us into the tower." Seren contemplates.
"Unless of course Mysty and Fausto find something worthwhile tonight."

Nahia |

Nahia giggles at Seren and says "Oh, I've taken a blade or a fingernail or a scourge to a man or women or twelve in my day too. I'm just not usually doing it to convince them to tell me anything, except maybe 'thank you' or 'Yes, m'lady'. And remember, seeing someone else's perspective is important. It is the best way to figure out how to make them do what you want."
Hearing Seren's comment about the mead, Nahia is just unable to hide the smirk on her face.
She's had a rough day. I was trying to be nice and not pick on her! But I can't just let that one go by!
Nahia looks up and locks eyes with Seren, smirk still present, and coos "Anything I ask eh? Well THAT is good information to know. Any orders you would like to be given that you don't have the resolve, or the adulteration, to give yourself?"
Nahia, feeling much better for not foregoing that opportunity, responds to Seren's plans, saying "Agreed, I think the citizens are tapped out. I hope that Rose manages to get soemthing to happen between those two... or three. A banishment or a duel would be nice, especially if we could poison their blades or get one of them to cheat. And that sounds like as good a plan as any. Hopefully Mysty and Fausto find something tonight, because I'm still not liking our overall options."
Nahia inspects her array closely, looking for anything to be wrong with it. Satisfied with everything, Nahia grabs a wet cloth and cleans her hands and gown, careful to not leave any excess chalk.
Taking some candles, she arranges them in six spots around the array, being very particular about their position and adjusting them constantly until she seems to believe them to be in exactly the right position.
Turning to Andros, who had been relaxing on a small nearby pallet, she says "Will you double check this and make sure it looks right to you?" Andros nods his head and begins to slither around the outside of the circle, checking the angles between the candles.

Seren Little |

Seren can feel her cheeks warm as she begins to blush. "umm, ahh, grr." Seren replies, glaring at Nahia before breaking out in laughter.
She continues to watch fascinated by the complexity required for Nahia to channel her magical powers. So weird. She's talking with a snake, and Andros seems to be listening.
"Well...This sorta feels like I'm interrupting something personal now..." Seren intones akwardly. "I think it's maybe time for me to head back to my own room." She says, standing from the bed.

Nahia |

Nahia smiles at Seren and says "Feel free to stay and talk. I can begin the ritual any time. Though I won't be able to respond once I begin." Another smirk makes it's way across Nahia's face as she adds "Or you can just stay and watch if you'd like..."

![]() |

Mysty naps in her room, for an hour or so, as she had practiced in the past. A thief tended towards nocturnal times, and got sleep as needed. As the inn's business wound down for the night, mysty readied her tools and considered her task.
A basement should be little challenge, but she would need light to search properly. Fausto would add a second pair of eyes, which would help. Rose came in the room and as she settled for the night, Mysty asked please don't lock the door Rose. I'll be back after my basement exercise.
When the noise from downstairs stopped, mysty slipped out the door into the corridor, disguised as a child in sleeping cloths. On noting no one present she resumes her true form and goes to Fausto's door and lightly knocks.

Fausto |

The inquisitor has been pacing in his room waiting for the halfling to show up. The knock on the door is a welcome respite and he starts to jump at the door before he remembers the nature of his mission.
An older man answers the door but Fausto nods to the halfling, "Just in case, someone sees us. Are you ready?"
Without his armor and large axe, the 'old man' followed Misty down the hall...

DM Aku |

Mysty and Fausto set up to their tasks, trying avoid and detection.
The place is, as you expected, closed and no one to be seen. It’s easy get to the basement door, and after a brief inspection you can say it’s locked. It takes Mysty some seconds, but she is able to open it up. A stair leads into darkness below. Mysty start playing with her fingers until a light appears, and with that, she and Fausto go down.
The basement is nothing out of ordinary. There’s lots of cheap drink and stored food. Nothing of real value in the small quantity you can carry with yourself. There’s no other door you can see in this place, only the stairs leading up again.
intentions?

![]() |

Mysty looks at the basement. She speaks quietly to fausto.
well, we are looking for a concealed entrance. Let's start a systematic search. You look over there, I'll start over here.
Aku, do you want to handle the rolls here? If so, fausto rolls and I assist as he has a slightly better roll. As I have a +9, I should add plus two to his roll.

Fausto |

The man is confused but seeing that no one has heard them or seen them, states, "Let's take our time here. There's no need to rush as apparently no one knows we're here."
With that the inquisitor invokes the Dark Lord's blessing in his search.
Once again, the inquisitor goes over the place, even looking in places where it was unlikely that a door or entrance would be hidden.
cast guidance, detect magic, and take 20, if possible

DM Aku |

Not happy with things as they were, Fausto search the place again, this time invoking the Dark Father Blessing.
There are some boxes in the place and they seem to have been moved recently. He had not noticed that earlier, and behind then, a well-made and concealed stone door.DC 30
He opens it with a triumphant air; a stair leads down into the darkness.

Fausto |

That creepy smile is once more in Fausto's face. He murmurs a prayer of thanks and calls Misty over. He whispers, "I think we have something here..."
Smelling the stale air, he tries to determine if the passage had been used recently. "Should we investigate further?"

![]() |

Mysty smiles. Something was certainly smiling on them
persistence certainly helps. We should investigate further. Can you tell if this passage has been used recently?
Mysty makes sure the passage can be opened from both sides, and that she knows how to open the passage. She then waits for Fausto's report.

Seren Little |

Seren glares suspiciously at Nahia. Okay, I'm sure there is something more to this that I'm missing, but I'm certainly intrigued...
Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17
She slowly sits back down, worming further onto the bed. "Okay I'm intrigued, but what am I missing here? I saw that smirk. Still, I've Never seen anything like this before. Those damnable priests are so boring and stuffy with their overwrought sermons and ceremonies. If it's not going to bother or interrupt you though..." Seren replies uncertain.

DM Aku |

@Mysty/Fausto
Fuasto checked the place for any disturbance found no sign of anyone using this passage.
You descend into the dark corridor, Mysty using one more of her lights.
The passage is really well-made, you walk for about one mile when the passage finally lead into a stair, and the stair into yet another stone door. You open it to a dark vault. It holds a vast stockpile of durable, emergency rations. Several thousand days’ worth of iron rations fills this vault alongside barrels of potable water and other durable provisions.
There’s a trap door in the ceiling.
From what you can tell, this place has not seen a living soul in for some time.

Nahia |

Nahia's smirk turns into a smile and she responds with "You're, mostly, not missing anything. I was just laying a bit of innuendo into the conversation for a laugh. Though it looks like you're getting more used to that. Looks like I might have to step it up if I want to see you blush some more."
Andros adjusts one of the candles ever so slightly and returns to Nahia, who strokes the underside of his muzzle and then places him back onto his comfy spot.
Nahia begins to lay out her normal choli and lehenga upon the array while speaking to Seren, saying "Well, interest is up to the watcher, and there is quite a bit of ritual and ceremony in what I do. In fact, a lot of my magic is all about ritual, about knowing how to ask and appease various spirits." Nahia turns back to make one last examination of everything before taking a few more sips of water.
Turning her full attention back to Seren, Nahia says, "This ritual is going to take me a while, probably a few hours overall. I can't guarantee that any of it won't be boring." Looking over the knife, the poison, the mousetrap, and the nails, Nahia grimaces a little and continues, saying "And depending on your specific proclivities, I can not guarantee that watching it will always be... pleasant. But yes, it is fine for you to watch, or even to take your leave part way through the ceremony. Just do not disturb myself nor Andros. I also suggest that you do not come within about a foot of the array. The spirits will be active, and not all of them are kind or gracious."
Grinning again, Nahia will ask Seren, "So, still want to watch?"
Nahia will smile and nod and say "Well, get comfortable, because it takes a bit to get the spirits attention. After that though, the real show begins."
Nahia turns to Andros and asks, "Are you ready? May we begin?"
The little serpent nods his head and slithers into Nahia's hand and is then placed amongst the garments.
Nahia then kneels amongst the items she has laid out and begins the ritual.
See previous post here for ritual description.

Seren Little |

Seeing the various apparatus infront of Nahia, Seren quirks her eyebrow as Nahia explains what should be expected of the ceremony. "Well now I have to watch. Can't just be left wondering what this is all about."
Seren wiggles to get into a comfortable position on the bed, and sits captivated as Nahia begins the ritual.
Emotions float and skitter through Seren as she watches the ritual. Shock as Nahia slits her wrists, Concern as the she begins to split up blood and Seren thinks about going to Nahia's aid, and amazement as she begins to chew through the nails and and knife. Okay, if this is what she has to do to gain her powers, yep I think I'll take my curse instead...
Seren watches with fascination as the spirits circle around Nahia, attempting in vain to use her own necromatic powers to feel the presence of the spirits. Barely anything... This is well beyond me. Nahia, I don't know what you're doing but this is impressive.
Sleeps begins to take Seren as the ritual continues into the chanting phase and the night deepens around them, she struggles to keep her eyes open, her captivation with the ritual fighting with her bodies needs for sleep. I suppose I can't just write off the whole night watching this, or I may start running into issues with my own power. Tomorrow is bound to be an exciting day.
But umm... So, Not sure this is something that I want someone else in the Inn to see. I hope she doesn't mind. Hesitantly, Seren skirts lower in the bed, getting comfortable, before slowly drifting off to sleep. The sounds of dripping blood and chittering spirits creating a pleasant background noise to Seren's warped senses.

![]() |

Mysty looks around the room. It seems that the dust of years lay here. Nothing moved.
This must be an emergency food store. They are really testing how long trail rations last. The bugbears could use the rations once they are through wreaking the place.
Mysty looks at Fausto, her eyes gleaming in the dim light. I think the tower is above us. I think we have our entrance. Asmodeus has been very...kind is the wrong word. You're a a priest aren't you? How would you say it?
She waits for an answer, and then starts to prowl around. let's have a quick look around, then we should return. The others need to know.

Fausto |

The man smiles, "I think you're right. And the word is 'blessed'; we have been blessed by our Lord Father. But let's not leave so quickly, let's make sure that trap door can be opened from this end. Can you check while I take a look around again."
Fausto murmurs another prayer of thanks and looks around this room while Misty makes sure the trapdoor is operable.
cast guidance, detect magic, and take 20 on perception

![]() |

No problem
Mysty goes to the trapdoor, and listens carefully. Then she tries to open it just a little so she can look out. If she hears any close by noise or sees and movement she will quietly shut it. Other wise she will open it and look out.
caution is the key here.

DM Aku |

The trapdoor is not trapped or locked. You listen but don’t hear anything from the other side, so you assume it’s safe to open it.
The room on the other side, appears to be base of a circular tower. There is a fully functional forge here that vents its smoke through a crude chimney. The vents are small and even tho there’s no one using the forge at the moment, you can see the room is quite smoky. There are several racks on the wall and you can see a lot of halberds, longswords, breastplates and shields.
There’s a stair on the wall, leading up, and another wooden door, closed near it. No one can be seen in the place.

![]() |

Quietly, Mysty shuts the trapdoor. She joins Fausto and says
Its definitely the bottom of a tower. As there is only one tower in the area, we have our entry point. The room above seems to be a weapon forge and armory. No one is around.
Mysty moves to the passage entrance. so, anything here. If not let's get back to the inn. I can feel a plan germinating.
Yes a plan. One starts and finishes with fire. Mysty smiles.
I like fire.

DM Aku |

The way back is uneventful. You find the basement as you have left it.
After leaving it, Mysty locks it again to avoid any suspicion. No one sees you in the inn when you read back to your room.
Want to talk with the other during the night? Or I can Move to the next day?

![]() |

I think move on to morning, when fausto and I can report. Assuming that's ok with fausto. Just one more thing...
As Fausto and Mysty move bthrough the tunnel. Mysty asks Fausto, I was wondering. I find my self serving our god, but I know little about his religion's practices or beliefs except what I have heard. As what I have heard is from mitran priests, I may have heard wrong. When we have a quiet time, could you give me instruction on this? I would like to understand our faith.

Fausto |

Fausto quietly picks his way trying to make as little noise as possible and nods to the halfling, "Aye, I sure can and you will find that your service will be much better. One thing is to do what others tell you and quite another is to do what you know to be right. I shall indeed instruct you on our Lord's Faith."
OK, what source is best to learn a little more about Asmodeus?

![]() |

any of the players guides and campaign support books on devils and faiths would be a good start, assuming Aku is using the golorian version of asmodeus.Of course Aku might have his own take on that.

![]() |

A breakfast, Mysty was smiling as she joined the others. Fausto and me have been successful in our mission. We have an entrance.
Mysty explains what happened last night and where the tunnel ended up.
it looked like a forge and an armory, at the base of a tower. No one was threr and it was dark. We can enter with no one the wiser. Well, until the knife goes in.
She laughed happily

DM Aku |

In the morning while you were eating your breakfast, an smiling Mysty approaches you and says Fausto and me have been successful in our mission. We have an entrance. it looked like a forge and an armory, at the base of a tower. No one was there and it was dark. We can enter with no one the wiser. Well, until the knife goes in. as she laughs happly.
While Mysty is recounting her adventures, another person enter the inn, the place goes very still at the same time. A craggy-faced veteran on the cusp of middle age. He wears a very well-made fullplate with the Talingard symbol on it, a dagger in his belt and a really big sword in his back. All ‘soldiers’ get up on their feet and do a reverence, which the man ignores and move to the barmaid.
Tell Bel I’m here to see him. and then he enters in the ‘personal only area’ as if he owned the place.

Nahia |

Nahia, finally waking from her bought of unconsciousness, lies there for a moment, a bit of pain in her head and some ache in her shoulder and hip from the unusual position in which she has been lying. After her vision gains focus and she takes a moment to mentally make sure that everything is well, she peels herself from the floor and rubs her face, flecks of dried blood falling like red red-black snow. Holding her hand out towards the tiny serpent that had just lost his fleshy blanket, Nahia says"I need a bath... and a drink"
- - - - -
Having cleaned herself and her outfit, Nahia comes down for breakfast, sees Mysty, and walks over to join her, ordering a nice big breakfast and real wine, not the watered down table stuff.
Not sure who or in what order people shall arrive, but I'll assume everyone is present. Also assuming that my suggestion below is taken. Feel free to ignore it though. : )
Nahia smiles excitedly at the little one and says "I'm glad to hear of your success, but maybe we should discuss this in private?" Still, the excitement remains visible on Nahia's face.
When the figure that demands attention arrives, Nahia watches the respect that he is shown, and starts to think through the information that she has heard. Leaning towards the others, she whispers "I'm not sure, but I will bet that is Captain Samuel Barhold, the inn owners brother... well, doesn't he just ooze authority and strength?... This whole thing might be more fun than I thought..." Nahia, unconsciously, begins to lick her lips.
He might actually provide a feast! Mmmm, his heart, his eyes, his blood... I haven't heard him speak yet but hopefully his brain and throat too! Hmm, maybe even some good muscle... but muscle in a warrior is tough and stringy... maybe if I made sausages that would help...
Nahia begins staring into space towards the authoritative man, lost in thought.

![]() |

Mysty sees Nahia's gaze and its target.
So you like them craggy, do you.
She looks at the man speculatively, cocking her head.
Way too tall, and as tough as a boot. Dangerous prey.

Seren Little |

Seren slumps down in her own room, a small grin on her face, lost in thought over what Nahia went through the prior night. To have to do that...Maybe what I've gone through isn't that bad. At least I certainly don't appear to be the only one that has to sacrifice for my power. She gets up and head to the bathroom, letting her glamour fall off as she stares at herself in the mirror. Perhaps this is not the worst thing to have happened...
- - - - - -
Arriving downstairs is a better mood, Seren sits down and orders a small breakfast. Her spirits are lifted even further as she watches Mysty and Fausto enter with smiles and joy on their faces. Clearly the night went well.
"Well that is great news. We appear to have our entrance! but I agree with Nahia, we should discuss this later in a less social setting." Seren intones joyfully after listening to them recount their tale.
The sun shining through the entrance as the likely Captain enters startles Seren out of her internal contemplations. Well he appears new. Probably one of the other captains... haha, looks like Nahia has some plans for this one.
She looks out the window at the rapidly rising sun, and rises from the table. "We Should probably get going soon. Lady Rose, you still feel like accompanying me to see Captain Varning off?"

Nahia |

... maybe a cold pudding? ... or soak it in lye? ... no it should retain its natural flavor. It should lose as little potency as possible...
Nahia snaps out of her thoughts at Mysty's comments and blushes, momentarily stunned.
Hmm, I guess I must look like a fawning farmer's daughter staring at one of the stunningly gorgeous hands...
Nahia recovers her composure and replys "Well, it isn't quite like that. I would say more that I like them... extraordinary. They need something that stands out, like his air of confidence. Though, you're right, I was just thinking about how he might be tough as a boot." Nahia giggles to herself at the last remark and then continues, saying "And yes, he is dangerous, but isn't that what makes it fun?"
Nodding at Seren, Nahia will reply "Oh, may I come as well? I wouldn't mind getting a look at him too. And then I can stop by the market and get some things on the way back. Either way, why don't we meet for dinner in one of our rooms?"

Seren Little |

"Absolutely." Seren says smiling at Nahia. "The more people there, the more things we notice. I wouldn't want to miss anything."
"Meeting after dinner sounds like a decent plan. Get everything sorted out know that we seem to know this town and the people in it a little better."
"But we really must hurry, I would hate to miss the procession leaving."

Lady Rose |

"Oh, I'll join you!" Rose said smiling, suddenly coming out of her morning fog. She was not a morning person at all. She was up and dressed and eating, but she wasn't really what anyone would call 'awake.'
The idea of getting out and waving her kerchief at poor doomed knights who didn't realize they weren't going to make it back from one of these scouting expeditions was just the right kick she needed to wake up the rest of the way.

Me too says Mysty, back in her false, childlike persona. She hops off her chair, ready to go.

Fausto |

The inquisitor comes down to breakfast in his 'hunter' persona. "I'd like to go ahead and see whether my 'planted rumor' had any effect."
He turns to the others, "I'm sure Misty told you of our blessed trip of last night. I think there's real potential here. Has anybody heard of this weapon cache and forge?"
later
Fausto attends to where he thinks the 'rangers' will emerge from and try to determine where they are going. Seeing a soldier nearby, he asks, "Do yee knows if them rangers gonna be hunting the vicious bear out and about?"

DM Aku |

Seren, Nahia, Lady, Mysty and Fausto head out, each in their own disguise to see the ranger’s departure.
You walk about one mile until you get to the watch tower, you see lots of soldiers and servants moving about, a pack a dwarfs coming from town.
Some minutes later, you see what appears to be the patrol group.
Seven humans, all mounted in strong and beautiful warhorses, the one at the formation point, demands a little more observation than the others, maybe because of his bearing, or just maybe because the quantity of weapons he carries.
You can see he uses a fullplate, a sword at his hips, a spear across his back, a bow, and lots of daggers. You can see also his horse carries a spare sword and spear and a great shield, with a herald craved into it.
The other ranger’s uses chain shirt, each carries a sword, a bow, a lance and daggers.
Anyone with some knowledge in combat knows that they are not ‘easy prey’ and they all appear to know how to fight mounted in their horses.
As Fausto approaches the soldier and ask his question one of then answer ”I’m not sure good sir, we haven’t heard nothing. Captain Varning never tell us beforehand where is he going.”
