Icarus Ras'Drexel |
Interesting.
Does Icarus own these items or is he just holding them for group use?
I didn't charge Kalum for the wand because it is unlikely to be used for his benefit, and because he was just 'holding' it for the group.
In the instance with the wand it is to be used for the group benefit so I don't think it is added to your personal wealth, however with items like daggers or amulets it is unable to benefit everyone at the same time so it part of my cut. at least that is how I understood the loot split. Wolf can say if I am correct or not.

Hmmm. Call me crazy.
When you said possibly another level of a different class temporarily, I started looking at the Godling.
Kalum's stated role at the start was to get to plane shift fairly early on (he gets it at 9th level). Casters notoriously don't multiclass well because it delays spell level aquisition.
Having looked I think it fits Kalum slightly better, and does pretty much everything Kalum has done so far.
Short term a level of two of the Godling would be interesting, but is there likely to be an ability to retrain existing cleric levevels (or just rebuild)?
I'm okay if the answer is no, by the way.
Kalum Navigator |
Actually Mythic could work really well too, but tiers are 2:1 to levels, and no plane shift abilities until 6th tier.
Plus is that you could actually hit 6th tier pretty quickly and have plane shift without a bajillion other 5th level spells.
Downside is that they recommend a 6th tier character be about 12th level anyway (for a 15th level equivalent).

We are waiting on me but I do want to wait until everyone has their characters leveled up, and I'm hoping Shorga will show up.
You guys can split the loot however you want. I'd say Icarus' interpretation sounds reasonable.
If you want to rebuild the options of your current class, go ahead. I would be OK with the godling class. I'd prefer to avoid the mythic rules since I'm not too familiar with them.
In the future (next level up, perhaps) there will be a chance to rebuild again, where you can choose a different class (your original class probably, but whatever you want) in place of the "temporary" class level.
Hopefully that is clear.

Hmmm. It was a feat and Exalted that I was interested in, but it requires Deific Obedience to take. Deific obedience has deity specific effects.
Wolfwaker: Would you be prepared to work out the effects for Yog-Sothoth?
If I can get to level 10(5 cleric/5 exalted), then I can get access to another domain. I was looking at the Time Domain, but that is 3rd party. Should I look at another?
Also, ISGods had about a paragraph on Yog-Sothoth. That paragraph said many believed he was the Dark Tapestry, which makes me think I should rebuild for Dark tapestry domain rather than Stars. Regardless of other factors I might do that if you are okay with it. Possibly Kalum has a flash of divine inspiration once night while staring up at the stars?
Wolfwaker RPG Superstar 2013 Top 8 |
Dark Tapestry is fine. Not a fan of that Time domain, the first power is strong and the second is a lot of work to undo. If you wanted to pick a couple of time thief powers we could try that.
The feats should be OK, just make sure the obedience benefits are balanced compared to the published abilities. I don't have a real good feel for what Yog-Sothoth would/should do, if you want to suggest some things go ahead.
Kalum Navigator |
Well, he's supposed to be coterminous with all space and time, knowing all and seeing all.
His worshippers sometimes give birth to monstrous spawn (I sort of like Kalum heading that way).
Yog-Sothoth is also known as the Eater of Souls.
Yog-Sothoth is sometimes seen as benevolent (or at least not malignant) in some of the literature. He helps people who seek knowledge and exploration.
That said, Kalum sees Yog-Sothoth as being all space and time, and I borrows some concepts from B5's Mimbari about the Universe wanting its people to percieve it from the inside. That seems to fit with the exploration domain he worships.
Kalum sees that the time of the Great Old Ones will come again, and that all will be swept aside for them. But as he sort of percieves time as a fourth dimension this more leads to him mentally marking off an area of four dimensional space as 'the time of humanoids' - obviously they cannot go beyond it.
Kalum sees that souls should eventually go back to Yog-Sothoth, because that is where they came from. They rejoin the source, and bring with them the experiences they acquired through living within Yog-Sothoth.
Therefore if the purpose of the worshippers of Yog-Sothoth is the acquisition of knowledge and experience it makes sense that the obedience should be related to it, and the simple benefit should make it better or easier.
Hmmm... still thinking on this...
As regards the Time Domain, sounds good. Very happy to build a 'new' one with a couple of time thief powers. I could even swap out a domain I have now for it if that sounds good and you would like to do some Time Thief stuff.

How about:
At level 1: An extra move or swift action 3/day
[too strong? TT doesn't get extra move actions until 11th level but I can't see where this is really abusable unless its the extra speed.]
OR alternatively, reroll an attack roll, skill check, or Reflex save 1/day
At level 8: reduce the duration of one condition by 1d6 rounds, 3+WIS/day.
Kalum Navigator |
There is precedent for powers that upgrade, so you could do just a swift action, then add "At 11th level this power can be used to get an extra move action in place of a swift action".
Given this is about the only way I know to get a swift action except http://www.d20pfsrd.com/mythic/mythic-magic/mythic-spells/borrowed-time I think it makes the domain unique.
Spell wise, I'd hope you'd be okay if I cast spells and give them a 'time flavour' at later levels.
Do any of the other players have a comment?
Incidentally, given the cryptic clues I've been guessing where we might be going. Hope I'm right :)
Grenadel "Rena" Aeleanir |
I've never been too concerned with how "powerful" other characters are, so long as each sorta has their niche. That said, space and time fit nicely for Kalum.
That said Rena could embody the flip side (at least story-wise). Where as Kalum understands and eventually controls the tapestry/fabric of time and space... Rena, can somewhat defy it. Perception, awareness, economy of motion. She embodies free will, not mentally but physically (in little ways).
Not sure if that was clear.

I'm not spoiling anything! :)
Sounds OK to me. I'll even bump it down with a little modification. Do you have any swift action powers? The combat chart only lists quickened spells, but I know there are a lot of class abilities.
3+WIS/day an extra swift action. At 5th level you may expend two uses to get an extra move action instead.
At 8th level, you may reduce the duration of one condition by 1d6 rounds, 3+WIS/day.

Sorry, didn't see this. Yes, I am fine with a rebuild. If you want to use the custom Time domain we were discussing, I would improve the ability to be an extra move action 3+WIS/day. The other was kind of boring. Let me reactivate this campaign so it will show up and maybe the others will see it. Otherwise we will need to recruit a couple more.

This is the new avatar, I'll dot the gameplay thread.
She's a little bit different this time, more combat capable.
Arcane Armor Training - So, she's wearing a Mithral Chain Shirt, ASF = 0% and a constant AC of 18 (without magic armor or Shield spell).
Also a Strength of 12, which helps a tad with weapon damage.
Now - I have no idea what gear Rena had prior... 2500+ (what?). Sorry for the trouble.
Kalum Navigator |
One of the things about Kalum was that he was saving up to send money home.
I don't want to shortchange the party on things to help in combat though.
I had had the idea that Kalum's village might become a bit of a stop-off and recovery point. Not sure if that is really going to work though.

Kalum Navigator |
From his background:
Kalum was born 13th in a family of 17. Kalum Sr married Giala. Kalum Sr died after her seventh child was born. Giala remarried to Rocur. She died in childbirth three children later. Roccur then married Yamyra, who had two children already. Roccur passed away a few months before Kalum was born. Yamyra then had a child out of wedlock. She then married Lem - a riding dog trainer. Yamra bore Lem three children before her last childbirth rendered her barren. With such a large family every copper counted. Pregant with Kalum, single and desperate for money, Yamyra agreed to a deal with a kindly wizard - actually a priest of Yog-Sothoth. She believed she was allowing the priest to do some harmless experimentation in exchange for food and clothing for her kids, and a guarantee of education and a stipend for Kalum.
Kalum, born suprisingly normal, was favoured of Yog Sothoth. The Priest dutifully "educated" him, inducting him to the mysteries of Yog Sothoth. These appealed to Kalum immensely - the enormous size of the Dark Tapestry left him humbled, the infinte worlds and planes appealed to his halfling nature, and something in him - something not halfling, was drawn to the dark majestic power and knowledge of a somehow sentient time and space. He loved to lie on the roof at night and just watch the stars.
Kalum wanted to travel, but his education was till he was 25, and his parents needed his stipend. He hung in there, waiting. He threw himself into his education, learning all he could of the world, and more importantly of the stars. He promised himself that once he started moving, he'd never stop.
The moment he turned 25, he finally let his wanderlust take him. He headed into the capital - something he'd always wanted to see. When he saw a sign offering wealth, death benefits for his family if he died, and the chance to travel everywhere he knew that he had to have that job.
Kalum Navigator |
Thinking I might do the family house as a business out of UCam with Yamyra (mum) as the manager.
Eventually we'll pass through, or Kalum will get teleport.
I like the aunts and uncles idea. Or - could be setting up franchises in the various cities. Hmmm...
Wow, looks like the one I prototyped might provide as much as 6gp per week day.
Edit: Somewhere central, I guess... and away from Cheliax. Actually the River Kingdoms might make a good spot.
