I'm sorry to hear that DM Voice! I enjoyed both your style and my fellow players.
I've had a similar experience with the one game I tried to run. I warned the players that the game goes on a hiatus, but after my RL got less busy after almost two months, I returned to find my group still waiting and we have picked up the game quite successfully :)
It is easier to find a replacement DM for a pre-written adventure, but if someone agrees to take this over until DM Voice is able to return, it would be pretty cool.
While I could probably take over for a fight or something, I am not sure I can run this game.
As it is DM Voice's baby, I think it is up to Voice to decide what happens. If you and he can talk something out, I'm happy to keep playing :)
I'm also happy to see if things get easier in the future.
Certainly I'd be open to restarting some time in the future if Mark wants to.
I've certainly got no issues with Kiren picking up where I left off and continuing the game. I'll reactivate the PbP for now so that it shows up for everyone. I'll also send Kiren a PM with the general gist of how I saw the remainder of this job playing out and roughly where I saw it moving in the future.
The chance of me being able to take back over in the future is pretty low. If I do choose to add another PbP back into my roster - I'd likely choose a published AP in order to cut down on the prep time (like the upcoming Irrisen based one).
Thanks for offering Kiren. I am stretched a wee bit thin as it is to GM it, but I could try and help on a limited-basis. I've seen pbp's successfully taken over by a new GM before... although the homebrew nature of this one certainly adds an extra layer of difficulty onto an already hard process. Thoughts?
I really like the story we have going. I have a couple of good ideas for missions so I think I can handle it. Some of you can help me out on rules if I need it.
Is everybody in? I guess we can see how it goes until we get out of the forest and then maybe get a replacement for Kiren?
You know I'm in. I must say one of my favorite aspects of pbp is the pace, which allows me lots of time to look up rules in the games I do GM.

I worked it out. Icarus has offended You-Sothoth by attempting to user his profane "geometry" to establish a limit to the infinite. He is being punished for his doubts.

Do you guys want me to advertise for another player? Any particular class or type you want to go for? How do you feel about gunslingers? (Seems like a natural since we are riding around on a stagecoach. I would definitely keep it to "rare firearms" if we went that route.
If Kiren is retiring, then we can look for another. Usually it's DMs who have problems with gunslingers, not other players ;) I'm fine with having one.
But at the same time, I would think another hybrid arcane caster, or even another alchemist, could be a better replacement for Kiren.
I say lets recruit one more. There always seems to be someone who wants to play. and with the solid core of players we have, I feel good about adding a new player.
I fine with a gunslinger, honestly I've been curious to see how a gunslinger plays. I do agree with a gunslinger perhaps not fitting the mold left behind when Kiren leaves, but personally I'm not much concerned with that, being more interested in the rp. But I'm easy either way.
Also, does anyone know if it's possible to transfer ownership of this thread/adventure to me? I might want to edit the Campaign Info some time. Or we can just start "Chapter Two" in a new thread.
PS if you guys want to start planning for 3rd level, go ahead, and then I will bring the new guy in at 3rd level. I don't really know how much XP we should have right now or how fast these PbP tend to level up but I figure it will be time at the end of this mission.

Shorga is our main front-line combatant. Icarus, Kalum and Otis are all ranged primary. We could certainly use another (fast) front-liner. We could also use a good arcane caster.
Kalum can pick up the knowledge nature at 3rd, so not too worried about that.

Eh, The female wizard seems like she could be a good replacement, as a wizard she would give us some sort of crowd control which is sort of what you provided previously.
I like the pally, for some frontline support, but the wizard or alchemist would be good as well. I like the idea of the ninja, but I'm not sure they can take a hit.
I've played with Hassan before - he's prompt as anything, and a pretty good roleplayer :)
I think he's pretty flexible on matching what we need at this point.
Anybody have the details of our finances handy? If not, I will go back and look at what they were. I think I will bring in Hassan with the female elvish wizard/ranger.
Hassan, I will start you off with 350 gold of equipment since the others haven't really had much opportunity to buy items. I will give you some in coin also that is roughly equivalent to what everyone else has when I figure out what that is.
Go ahead and give me a bit of a backstory (couple of paragraphs is fine) and then I'll start you out in Almas and have you join up with the party when they get back to the lumber camp.
That Opening Volley is a neat feat. I just made a goblin character to play at home that I may use that with.

Sounds good to me; Welcome to the game Hassan! I'm not much help on the fundage stuff... but my son scored 2 goals in his U-6 game! They don't really keep score at their level, but his team usually 'wins' because there's a mini-Pele on his team that scores about a million goals a game. Go Team Yellow Awesome! (Yep that's the name they picked for themselves)

I don't think my kids team won a game, they more enjoyed kicking up dirt clouds and gazing at the sky. Ooooh, shiny! LOL.
Opening Volley, for a high Dex Melee character should work well... nail them with a little range, than charge with +6 above and beyond your normal bonus. Seems to stack well with Power Attack, too if you have Str 13. Maybe I'll craft a strength item.
For Rena, that means if she connects with ranged... then she's charging with +12 or more and 1d10/18-20 x2 (elven curved blade). Had to go ranger for that.

May I ask to back fill the details of Rena's background? I'm seeing her a a black sheep hotspur, who decided to strike out and make it on her own.
This gig would offer the right amount of variety, danger and pay to get her interested.
Her interest is the "in between of worlds" (planes), especially shadow walking. He Favored Enemy is Evil Outsider.
She verily enjoys the "outsmarting of things".
Currently a proud father of a three-year-old, and expecting another arrival early next year... Dads are not that hard to come by on these boards, moms though may be another story ;)
