BBEG? Big Bad Evil Guy? Or is this some reference to ToH that I wouldn't get?

Big Bad Evil Guy/Gal.

Wait, you mean I was actually right? I was totally just making that up!

No worries, I have no specific knowledge of anything other than the picture and bad guy name seemed familiar.

A feminine voice laughs out into the mind of all the potential PCs. "You all asked for a challenge... I hope I can deliver."

Everyone, be sure to blame the above alias on Viskous. You guys and Fukuopicus (say it aloud) here are going to be acquainted quite nicely by the ends of this.

Updated per your PM Doombringer!

Alias made.

Shadow Lodge

I rolled history,
Got an 8 but still
linguistics, trained: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20 wow, spot on
religion: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27 history: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8

Sorry, should have clarified. I'm disappointed no one succeeded in a history check :3

Shadow Lodge

Did my religion check pass?

Lord Foul II wrote:

Would your character know that? :3

Shadow Lodge

If he failed he would know that he knew nothing
If he passed he'd know what the check told him
So I'd say yes but your the DM so *shrug*

Ah. The way I do knowledge DCs is that they are tiered. Depending on how high someone scores, they know more and more about a specific topic. On a natural 20, they automatically know everything. So in any given instance, a person knows SOME knowledge, but isn't sure if what they know is relevant (until it either comes up later or it doesn't)

Dark Archive

My character will be posted momentarily. I'm working on the background. I have the mechanics done (thanks, Hero Lab). The character was designed to be somewhat generic, as opposed to specifically designed to take on the tomb (because I've DMed it many, many times and have no intent of metagaming).

Not sure if this will help or not, but I ran through the threads and made a list of applicants with their character and stat totals from the rolls. The three question marks are for the HP, which I believe they rolled but didn't add to their character sheets/stat blocks yet.

Name | Class | HP | S | D | C | I | W | C
Father Raphael | Oracle 9 | 102 | 10 | 12 | 18 | 13 | 10 | 20/22
Mad Hamish | Bard 9 | 76 | 14 | 18 | 14 | 10 | 12 | 16
Jean Begnoche | Fighter6/Chevalier 3 | ? | 16 | 17 | 14 | 13 | 10 | 16
Leafripper | Barbarian 9 | ? | 16 | 14 | 14 | 10 | 12 | 9
Suzumaru | Shaman 9 | 101 | 12 | 13 | 16/20 | 12/14 | 16/18 | 16/18

Kyrethia |Rogue 1/Wizard 8 | 55 | 10 | 17/19 |10 | 16/20 | 9 | 11

There were more people interested but this was all I could find with a character made and submitted.

Oh wow, thank you! I was sort of keeping minor notes on the side as to what roles were being covered by whom, but this is much easier to read than that!

So we have 3 Life link healers
2 other divine caster types
2 front liners
and a bard.

Seem to be lacking a full arcane caster

Hey bard's arcane!

--------------------
Born into a rare lower class elven family, Kyrethia's childhood was nothing to speak of until her 15th birthday. It was then that she was kidnapped by a criminal organization that intended to turn her into a spy. She was given training in skills that would aid her in this endeavour and excelled at her studies. But during this time, the single greatest influence on her life was the elderly man who served as the leader of the guild. It was he who taught her lessons that she would never forget and also taught her a deep respect for magic. It was only later that she would learn his true nature as a member of the undead.

To this day, her greatest regret is the seduction of a city official for nefarious purposes. Though she was pressured into the action by her superiors, it left her with a bad taste and would affect her future relationships. She seldom speaks of this secret, preferring to keep it to herself lest she be judged.

After her period of service was up, the guild released her to her own cognizance. Fearful that she would not be accepted by her family if they knew of her crimes, she instead made a new life for herself and took up the study of magic. As was the case with thievery, she excelled at the study of the Art, and soon graduated from her apprenticeship with flying colors.

Since that time, she has embraced the Art and become a dealer in rare antiquities. She maintains a small shop in Absalom, but has contacts all over Golarion and is always looking for the next artifact to cross her table.

Awwwww....oh well, so much for playing 2 characters...

I seriously doubt that the GM would have permitted you to run two characters, as no one else has been afforded the opportunity.

Aww, man....(leafripper)

Yeah I know...I just got my hopes too high, that's all.

Shadow Lodge

If you don't mind my asking, why rouge one instead of rouge 2(evasion) or rouge 3 (arcane trickster)

Well, I'm thinking he wants to be able to clear magical traps... But not impede spell casting too much. Just a gut feeling of course, I can't read minds.

Or can I?

Shadow Lodge

There's a trait for that, but whatever, still seems a pretty cool character

1 person marked this as a favorite.

RANT:
But traits that give away class abilities are so LAME. Even with a feat such as Divine Protection, I house rule that at the very least you must have the same alignment restrictions as a Paladin and be able to fall... If not banning it outright. I mean, especially for someone like an oracle, who specifically only has to focus on their casting stat (Rather than lets say a Paladin, who needs Charisma, Constitution, and either Strength or Dex) For a full caster, their one stat is the only necessary thing to make them work. But enough of this rant..

Don't look at me. I came about Trapfinding legitimately.

I find traps the old fashion way. Hey barbarian... there's a great big pile of steaming hot food on the other side of that door...

Shadow Lodge

Or the throw constructs/summons/undead/dominated enemies/(evil only) kidnaped pessents (for the evil lulz make them orphans) at it

I have summons for trap checkers.

My idea was to evoke an old-school "magic-user/thief" feel to the character, not to min-max her. Certainly there are better or more powerful combos I could have made, but that wasn't my intent. I wanted a character that felt a bit like 1E in that she was primarily a spellcaster, but could also open locks and check for traps. Besides, the level of rogue fit her background.

I couldn't ask for a better explanation than your last sentence.

HP: 9d8 ⇒ (6, 5, 6, 5, 3, 4, 8, 7, 7) = 51

not bad. I'll see if I can get this up today for tomorrow's cutoff.

"Haha"...very "funny". Leafripper's not dumb...

Shadow Lodge

by that scale, my character's not physically weak

Oops. and a goat!

We also now have a pretty elf lady wizard!

Hope I'm not too late to the party.

Shae Oakenshield (Dwarven Warpriest)

Link:

I can make the waraxe +2 if undead bane is too powerful.

There are undead in the dungeon? Oh well we do know we eventually might be facing a lich, but don't you think we might be able to negotiate?

Also, AGamer, you might already be on this, but the GM asked for an RP post in the discussion thread once your character was built, we have quite the rowdy group happening in there...

Shadow Lodge

hp: 42 + 2d8 ⇒ 42 + (5, 4) = 51
The 42 was the result of my previous roll, back when I thought we were level 7 instead of nine
So 51+4x9(con)+4(favored class)
91 unless my math is off
Oracle can tank

Undead bane is definitely not too powerful. TRUST me.

Gulp.

Alright everyone, I have made my decisions... This was based on a mixture of roleplay and party purposes and before I get to who is going, just know that I want everyone to save their character information as I will be running this again!

So the fortunate souls going into the Tomb will be...
Father Raphael
Jean Begnoche
Mad Hamish
Suzumaru
Maxwell Rabble.

I will post in the official gameplay forum as soon as I get the chance.

Thanks for the invitation, I'm very excited to get in on this classic dungeon. I'll update my profile right away with an easier to read stat blocks and stuff.

I really enjoyed the discussion thread, good luck everyone with your future games and I hope to follow up later when Doombringer does it again and see how you all do it differently than us.

Shadow Lodge

Phooie, I'm out
Ah well, good luck everybody :)

I didn't see that until now, I was still roleplaying in the thread when you said something.
