Twin braziers disperse the scent of jasmine oil throughout this bedchamber. A yeti pelt is draped over a futon near an arcane circle carved into the floor. North of the circle, a teak box overflows with jade figurines. A hollow in the eastern wall is bordered with a marble carving of wolves stalking a hare amid grave markers. Words are carved in a spiraling script around the hollow.

Chaul is able to determine that the ritual to activate the magic circle, and therefore open the portal is a 1 minute ritual that requires the reading of the glyphs surrounding the circle in a specific order. Fairly simply performed for someone of his skills. Unfortunately he also realizes that whoever performs the ritual will be immediately drawn through the portal, whether they want to or not. Oddly enough, nothing in the ritual to activate the portal has anything to do with the jade dust within the grooves of the portal.

Aldebert takes a good search around the room and finds that the teak box contains 18 small figurines. The 18 figurines appear to represent 18 of the 20 major deities of Tian-Xia. Two animals are missing: the wolf of Fumeiyoshi and the hare of Tsukiyo. Aldebert is able to find that these missing figurines are hidden within the carving surrounding the portal. Additionally, those 2 pieces are actually made of jade, unlike the rest of the pieces in the box.

Chaul utters the last few words of the incantation... Morituri nolumus mori

Suddenly a light fills the room and Chaul vanishes as suddenly the echoes of the grating of metal on stone ring loud in your ears. A portal appears on the eastern wall of the room looking into a long court chamber. A flurry of whirling naginatas descends from the ceiling and ascends from slats in the floor, creating a deadly wall of lacerating edges that continues to chop at the air. You don't know where Chaul has gone too...

Shahareen screams. "We must follow!"

Anyone who goes through the portal:
A veneer of regality struggles to mask the decaying features of this once-opulent court. A fraying carpet leads from the chamber’s arched entrance to a raised marble dais featuring two worn leather chairs. Flanking the dais, a pair of marble statues each depict an imperious samsaran woman. Porcelain jars and ornate boxes adorn alcoves in the north and south walls. In the eastern portion of the room, hundreds of small mirrors are carefully arrayed in a circle on the wall. Together, the mirrors reveal a raging snowstorm.

Chaul:
A beautiful samsaran women motions as if to stand up from her chair as Chaul finishes materializing in her chamber.

"So kind of you to bring me a new wardrobe!" she calls at him as she... stands? No... her hands make a motion as though pressing on he throne to rise, but only her head lifts into the air... dragging a trail of viscera and entrails behind.

Chaul has magical circle of protection vs evil up which gives protection from evil, which in turn: While under the effects of this spell, the target is immune to any new attempts to possess or exercise mental control over the target. Does this effect count?

Phew, question is still relevant for the others

As an aside, I though Wyngan was doing the ritual, thus the barkskin on him, can we swap that to Chaul if he is going first?

Quinn follows the others through the blades, but tries to angle his approach to go through as few as possible.

Due to that statement I thought that you were casting the ritual. I'll assume Barkskin is on you then. As for the Magic Circle, yes, that does protect you (and others in your range) from that effect).

Naginatas vs Wyrgan: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (13) + 15 = 281d20 + 15 ⇒ (16) + 15 = 31
Damage: 1d8 + 6 + 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 + (6) + 6 = 19

Naginatas vs Quinn: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (13) + 15 = 281d20 + 15 ⇒ (18) + 15 = 33
Damage: 1d8 + 6 + 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 + (5) + 6 = 21

Quinn and Wyrgan still have a standard action after moving through the portal.

The remaining monks move forward to protect their master.

I'm assuming that attack is at Jujanil.

Aldebert's arrow launches at Jujanil, and a dark flash flickers across his vision. Chaul, hearing Aldebert's greeting turns just in time to see the crossbowman shoot him in the back!

Chaul takes 8 damage, Will DC 19 negates. This is an illusion (shadow) effect.

Despite the apparent misfire, a bolt wound appears in Jujanil's visceara, although she appears to resist much of the damage.

@GM that is a very reasonable reading of the posts!

Quinn uses his remaining time to move up next to Chaul, sticking to the carpet.

Chaul meanwhile tries to resist the foul spells...

Chaul is able to shake off the illusion and sees the shadowy bolt trajectory for the trickery it is. Aldebert's arrow did in fact strike true after all...

Jujanil is able to avoid any significant wound from the spiritual weapon, although it continues to harry her.

Shahareen marches into the room, looking incredibly wounded by the naginata trap. As she materializes, a bright halo of light surrounds her flooding the room with bright light. She raises her hands and a shimmering image of Rianon of Minkai eminates from her, flooding the room with positive energy.

Quinn leaves a solid cut in one of the monks, but Wyrgan has some difficulty.
