I MIGHT be driving up to Nashville this weekend. Its tax free weekend this weekend for starting up school and can buy a laptop tax free. Alabama caps the purchase at 750.00 but Tennessee lets you buy a computer up to 1500.00 and not pay sales tax.
I want to buy my daughter a nice Mac Laptop. It will likely run 1200.00 or so. Planned to give it to her for Christmas. So do I buy it now tax free, or wait and buy it in December and pay tax. And if now, is it worth the drive up to Nashville to save tax on 450.00-500.00. Decisions...
Oh yea, if anyone else is interested, Apple will through in a 100 iTunes gift card for a "back to school" incentive IF I buy this month. So, gift card and no tax IF I buy this weekend.

hey, guys, i realize i've been gone for a good chunk, now. My team (at work) ended up picking up a few extra projects right as one of my producers left... i've been struggling to keep pace with my pbp's... not even having been able to open this thread up in about a week.
So I really apologize for that. It has nothing to do with the caliber of game or players.
But with everything going on right now (and this being a ridiculous kickoff to our usual busy season), Im going to have to bow out of this thing.
If things ever lighten up, and you guys are still rolling, I'll check back in, but I don 'tknow if that will be 1 month or 7.
I apologize for the abruptness of this announcement; I didn't see it coming. I apologize to everyone, but most especially to DM Grey. This game is an excellent concept and it's been fun so far... i just had to slim down my pbp time, and this is one of my more recent additions.
You guys have fun.

Well, dang. I was just getting things under control again because... finals are over!
Come back when you have a chance Thom, there will be a spot for you. That goes for everyone. With how absent I've been, I understand if sometimes you don't post, or need to withdraw for a while. The digital table is always open.

The university is not required to have grades posted for a couple weeks, thus it will be three weeks before I know.
Actually feeling pretty good this time. I may have pulled a B- out of calculus! Huzzah!
Public speaking B+ or A-
I no longer have to compete with the pre-med students in basic life science classes! It fills me with joy!

All:
I'll be headed to Dragon Con this Thursday afternoon and will not return until Monday late. I am not sure how much free time I'll have or what the internet situation will be like. I predict my posting will be sparse, but not nonexistent. Please bot me if I am too slow to support the group.

I don't know why but the best convention I went to was in a Creation Convention in Philadelphia back in 1985. I met Tom Baker (Dr Who #4)
| Little Orphan Annie |
You got to meet Tom Baker & you don't know why it was the best Con you've gone to?!
well because some of the other cons I met new friends that I still see occasionally. and that can be just as important also.
of course meeting Tom Baker was pretty Awesome (except the time I met Ronald Reagan, that was cool also)

Hi all. I am back from the con. I played nine 5 hour slots of PFS and averaged maybe 5 hours of sleep a night for four nights (Exhausted). I'll be doing my best to catch up on everything and post tomorrow. Its good to be back home, and back with the game. :)

I had fun.
I need a few days of non-gaming and 8 hours nights of sleep to recover.
Year 4 mods are pretty deadly and year 5 have continued the trend. And at these events there are a lot of good judges who know the rules and do not softball.
I have 10 PFS characters. Two of them are level 12. Two 9s, three 8s, one 7, one 6, a 5, and two 2. The point is that I have a reasonable amount of play time and I have never had a character die. Two died Friday. lol.

Ditto. We gotta trade LG stories sometime. Most of my characters were from the Yeomanry, but I traveled to California so much back then that i had one character from the Kingdom of Nyrond.
And its similar. More splat book type books being released for revenue. More strange character builds taking advantage of unplanned synergies. Players "gaming" the system (Hey, we are gamers. Its what we do. ) to get more gold/resources than the campaign was expecting. etc. But, the Pazio guys are doing a better job closing loop holes and doing it faster than in LG.
One thing I like they did was limit gold for playing up, while lowering the hit for playing down. In a 1-5 mod the 1-2 gold might be 500 and the 4-5 gold would be 1500. Now if you play a level 2 or even 3 at the 4-5 tier you get an average of the two tiers gold (i.e. 1000) instead of the full 1500. Likewise if your level 5 sits down at a con hoping to play up and everyone else at the table is a level 1 you walk away with 1000 gold instead of 500.
Another thing is limit what you can do when playing pre-gens. Some people were playing pre-gens to get to play a higher level character when they had a valid one, save resources since gold spend when playing a pre-gen does not count against your actual character gold, and even avoiding dangerous mod death risk. But now if a pre-gen dies and you use that chronicle for a character, the death comes with it. There is a good summary of changes with the latest campaign docs.
And I gotta say that the back stories are very good. Sometimes I only catch on after the arc ends. Just now figuring out the whole Shadow Lodge thing as my Shadow Lodge PC only made it to level 2 before that faction bit it. If you get a chance play both faction finale mods for Lantern Lodge and Shadow Lodge. And of course play the Waking Rune with your highest and best character you have when you can. And bring your "A" game to that one.
I am going to try to keep up with the story behind year of the Demon better. There are hints to what is going on that I usually only see when the endings are revealed.

hehe in LG the first 3 years i played in Keoland / Bissel
then i moved back to europe and played Sundi / Ekbir
What i did like is actually the slow level pace and the AR access only to magic item.
also (sorry short answer i have to head out) i did play the to faction end adventure and my highest is doing all the Rune mods from cultist's kiss to waking rune on these boards...

Guys, I apologize but I feel I should probably take a break from PbP for a bit. I just wound up leaving a Campaign I had a great deal of time & enjoyment invested in because what I felt was a simple miscommunication snowballed rapidly & to be painfully honest, I can't tell if I was over-reacting or took too long to make the break.
I'm going to take about a week off, DM Grey, please go ahead & 'bot' me if needful.
| Restless Cherry Blossom |
After the fact, I realized a further contributing factor was that last week was finals week for my accelerated college class. I have three five-week classes, of which one just finished, so I believe that in the interests of not having another episode like this past week, I will likely be taking another hiatus when my next final comes up in about a month.
Yes, I'm back.

Has it really been a month since we have heard from our DM? I am sorry to see this one go - it held great interest for me. I even read the first two novels game was based off of. :(
Someone PM me if this picks hack up. Good gaming to you all.
