DM Grey |

Greetings one and all! Thank you for joining me on this experiment. I cannot promise perfection, only a willing heart.
Now, some questions people have asked.
Wealth - Use the character creation guidelines, 3000gp, for equipping your character. Use common sense and if something seems cheesy, don't take it. Also, no custom items. Although it might make sense to start with less, my experience is adventures tend to carry their entire personal fortunes on their persons at all times. Strange folk.
HP - Roll or average, your choice. If you have already rolled, keep what you got. If you took average intially and would like to roll, please post here.
Location - You are all arriving from Golarion to Earth. We will begin in media res.
Party - I would like some of you to know each other before things start. You may decide for yourselves, but my suggestion is Beylinda, Thomdril, Gethric, and E-terah be a party to begin. Pathfinders, Beylinda, often hire local talent, Thomdril, and expertise, Gethric and E-terah, to assist in their investigations. And as we know, not all expeditions return...
River will join you some time, hopefully shortly, after your arrive.
Annie is near the Worldwound, and demons should learn not to play with the fabric of reality.
Voice any and all questions and concerns.

Gethric Orted |

Gethric is here, and thanks to Mr Grey for the selection and trust. I hope that the other party members will find him 'useful'.
No problems being in a party prior to the start, and Gethric's position would definitely be a follower rather than leader in that regard. He would probably have been hired for his abilities as a diviner.
I'll take average HP, and will update the profile over the course of the day.

Little Orphan Annie |

Annie took average HP as well as Tibbers

River* |

River reporting. Also Average Hit Points. Not a gambler with regard to health. :)
I'll be joining the group late as I understand it. Did we ever get direction on starting wealth and equipment?
Hey Edward, we are in another game together.

Thomdril |

Checking in. Thanks again for the invite, Grey. I'm excited.
Talented Thom, I like that. :D
I already rolled for HP, so I'll keep it (ya know, since it's slightly over average), but there's a good chance i'll be taking average as we move forward (I don't like to futz with HP pools, either).
Let me just finish gearing out, too.
Quick question to everyone but River: would you prefer this to have been our first adventure together? So we know only a little of each other? Or should we act as if we had spent more than a little time in tight spots together? With a working knowledge of each others' quirks?
I'm fine either way; just dont want to over-share.

ahhh yes Tolvan... don't worry Annie acts like a kid but she is really a gnome. (sometimes it can be hard to tell the difference)

Beylinda Chumana |

Hello to all,
DM Grey: i am keeping my hp rolls. No problem having been in a party with others. Do you want to keep the azlan astronomical machine as a way to earth or was it on another mission?
Equipment and the rest is all set and ready.

Thomdril |

Okay, gear chosen and updated to char sheet. I geared him up as if he's in the middle of an adventuring excursion, so horse + sleeping gear + other 'non-essentials' aren't on him... those would be back at camp.
Also, i've been having a hard time with his bard spell choices. Given that he only has the one level, and I don't want him to feel like a spell-caster much at all, I wanted to only choose spells that were somewhat subtle and didn't have material components.
For one I went with Comprehend Languages (i know, i know, this one has a material component, but sweat is salty, right?). But for the other, i can't decide between Expeditious Retreat (possibly a bit too flashy), Feather Step (nice long duration for a 1st level caster and solid, subtle utility for a combatant), or Share Language.
DM Grey, would Thom having Comprehend Languages and Share Language be too much? It would certainly be helpful as we transition over, and I think it fits his backstory well (what with all the travel).
Let me know. Otherwise, Thom is ready.

DM Grey |

The Azlan machine is actually what I assumed for the gameplay thread. Speaking of which. Gameplay thread is up, though not entirely complete, so feel free to take a look and begin considering your actions. For combat, at least for this one, everyone's initiative will be rolled separately. Though after the first round it will essentially be players->bad guy. If character actions conflict, say both say they are moving to the same spot, I will adjudicate.
@Thom, The spell choice is really up to you. If you think it fits, I'm fine with Comprehend and Share. It's quite possibly one of the reasons Beylinda hired you. If so, I would ask that you put some ranks in linguistics for additional languages.

Little Orphan Annie |

I am guessing Annie is not part of the "party" so she will be new to everyone

Thomdril |

i certainly don't mind doing that.
I generally try to put a status spoiler at the end of each of my combat posts, which allows me to include spells/conditions/etc. I only offer this as an alternative because then that status becomes time-stamped to that post, where as that "Race" line only always references what's currently in the line (making it impossible once you update that line to go back to a previous post and check what status was then).
I'm fine either way, just let me know.
For Example:
AC 18 T 13 FF 15
CMD 18 FF 15
--> +1 vs. Disarm/Dirty Trick/Steal
.
Fort +4 Reflex +5 Will +1
--> +2 vs. Enchantments
--> Immunity: Sleep
.
Effects/Conditions None
.
Shield? no

Beylinda Chumana |

I use both actually.
the top (race line) is to give a quick look for the dm in relevant stats and current hp status (both for DM and healers)
on my char sheet is the daily ressources tracking spoiler with the current effect status (both positive and negative)

For my groups: a little quick info
The blackcove mission is a real pathfinder Society mission (its official pathfinder lore too)
about 1/2 day from the village by small fishing boat is an island (it has been abandoned since the disparition of the azlan empire)
The island is highly magical due to its specific location on the map. Its magical barrier only allow those of azlani blood (The nearby population are all of mix azlan /gillmen origin) To enter if you do not have the "key" (we don't know what it is) On certain astronomical events the barrier is weaker allowing entry (and a giant Kraken guards the island during those time)
on it was a large city complete with magical flying tower that rotate around it. These towers served as astronomy towers. Most were damaged. only 1 is still in operation. A defining feature of all building in the island is that they are self repairing (at a very very very slow pace but none the less)
Many of the surrounding building where either living quarters, or bibliotheque. Some where teaching facilities. 1 Very bizarre building housed an outside pool. This pool is a focus for other world / outer planes summoning. its bassin serving as both a replication (cloning facility) and a conjuration circle to trap. (This facility is still in working condition)
at the Center of the island is a really build round building. It actually is a modern planetarium. Inside is a functioning Solar (golarian) System. We were able to fix some of the damage to the control pod (is had almost finished self repairing- by a few thousand years) Unfortunately since the outside towers work as an external calibrating focus. the device when working fizzles and teleports random extra planar. (Also we did not posses the instruction manual)
The planetarium and the replication /conjuration pool can be linked together in order to conjure stuff from other worlds.
The planetarium and the observation (think giant telescope) can be linked to view other other world in the Golarion System.
(We suppose it can even reach farther than that)
(Sorry to repeat myself but all i have said about this island is official canon pathfinder info)
------
this is not canon fluff:
The device still fizzeling during one of its test activation teleported the party somewhere else.
(sorry for the long post)

E-Terah Deepheavy |

....All my updated crunch got wiped. So unhappy. Will fix soon. Power out so I can't charge phone or computer do to rainstorm.
Where should I begin? Roll initiative now or just meet up with you four later on? I'll have her wander upon y'all wondering what's all the hubbub...

Little Orphan Annie |

hey all busy weekend (it was my birthday) and had a hectic workday followed by an unscheduled visit with my neighbor
Are we waiting on Annie?

Little Orphan Annie |

hey E-Terah, did you have a chance to check out my oracle of stone?
Thought I would share one as stone and life are my two favorite Oracle mysteries.

DM Grey |

Yep, penalty to a spellcaster's stat discourages most players.
Apologies to everyone, traveling from the test took longer than expected. I got distracted by a lake, mountain lakes are wonderful in June, and had to get caught up on other things at first this morning. Hopefully my future estimates will be more reliable.
Feel good about how I did on the job skill and english sections of the test. Biographical, who knows. The essay is the only part I'm worried about, timer cut me off before I could finish the last sentence. Should get my score in 3-5 weeks.

Thomdril |

E-Terah, do you want to hash out what we (Beylinda, thom, and Gethric) know of you?
Temporary memory loss could very well be attached to this whole transition. In which case I'd just love to know what little rid-bits I would know of the very short time we've been adventuring together (which i assume would be all of the weeks it would take Beylinda to recruit each of us, then us get to that island thingy, clear it, and Beylinda do whatever mis-step caused us to fall down this particular rabbit hole).
