"...I don't believe her. That spell allows for lying. We know that Karzoug is due back today, so waiting until midnight isn't a smart idea."

Jeevika looks at Love Hurts.

These Dominant weapons seem to be the key... They could banish Karzoug when he projected himself through dimensions. They cut through that golden wall without backlash. Given its color and proximity to this thing, I bet the two are related...

After taking a deep breath, Jeevika approaches the mysterious device.

"I guess I'm about to see if Love Hurts..."

The Holy Vindicator closes her eyes... and stabs the golden sphere with her sword!

"Uh, before you do that..." Ryli starts, and pulls back away from the sphere, setting herself beside Olympus and Lorthan. Then she starts summoning some allies from the First World just in case.

Precisely...?

Zoli is about to speak when she sees Jeeves stab the ball.

"Uhh, oh wow! Well, Chaldira Zuzaristan favors the bold, eh!?"

Zoli watches with curiosity while Lion scuttles into his familiar satchel.

Ayruzi hovers at a more cautious distance, but with his blade in hand.

Precisely...?

Let's say, 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2 T-rexes, if there's room

There's always room for a T-Rex, right? I mean, under all the feathers they aren't nearly as big as they look...

Ryli conjures forth a pair of tyrannosaurs moments before Jeevika plunges her blade into the sphere. The moment she does, there is a thunderous boom! Green and golden energy seems out of the sphere in a growing vortex that in moments has filled the entire chamber, enveloping and consuming everyone within it!

The green and gold energy coalesces into red and grey. The world feels like it has been turned upside down and torn. As you gather your senses, things begin to somewhat take focus, though it is all distorted. Even so, you can see you are now somewhere new. You are standing on a large stone platform surrounded by a sea of lava 100 feet below. Numerous red-hot pillars of gold rise from the fires. To either side are a pair of stone balconies which are supported by chains attached to the pillars—no walls extend down to the fires below from them. Standing on each is a massive storm giant glaring down at you menacingly.

Before you beyond a comparatively small divide is a pool of what appears to be molten gold similar in appearance to the runewell you discovered below Sandpoint, but far more grandiose. Above it, a large lens of green crystal that has the Thassilonian rune for transmutation and greed inscribed upon its surface. The lens is fitted in an iron ring, which is attached to an articulated arm that allows the lens’s position to be adjusted to any angle and configuration, which is currently pointed directly at the runewell below.

And beyond that, sitting upon a gilded throne, is Karzoug. To his right is a behemoth rune giant brandishing it’s blade. To his left, laying low to the floor is a huge blue dragon. Karzoug is petting the back of its head like one would a guard dog with his left hand as his right clutches a glaive whose blade crackles in flame. The walls surrounding this extravagant throne are decorated with countless books and workspaces.

”So, you insignificant wretches have come at last to me. So much time. So much effort. All for nought. You are too late. My time is at hand,” he says as he stands. The dragon rises as well, snarling as electricity dances along its fangs. ”...but yours, is at an end.”

He glowers at you all and adds chillingly, ”Kill them, as we discussed.”

One of the storm giants looses a bolt of lightning that surges through the group! It doesn’t do much damage, but is still quite painful.

The angel flies forward and--as he speaks--waves of energy ripple forth from him, covering Karzoug, the dragon, and the rune giant.

Ayruzi works his magic, and the dragon and giant at Karzoug’s side immediately begin breathing heavy. Karzoug seems unphased, however. He locks eyes on Eugeni and lifts his hand, speaking words of magic. Four b]orbs of fire and stone coalesce, growing in size until they are each 2 feet across. He then sends them all straight for the mage, each one hitting with devastating, explosive impact that elicits cries of pain from everyone of the Rangers and their allies! When the smoke clears, Eugeni is barely standing...

But then, from Karzoug’s glaive, an orange bead of energy flies forth and lands directly beside Ameiko! It too erupts in a gout of fire, and as the flames settle...Eugeni collapses!

Karzoug smirks and lowers a hand to a rod at his side and says an impossibly fast incantation. Suddenly, Jeevika, Zoli, and are cut off from the group by an opaque wall of oscillating colors that stretches across the chamber from one cavern wall to the next!

A peel of Thunder rings out, and Ameiko, Ryli, and one of the dinosaurs cry out in pain! Ameiko falls to the ground!

Going with the Ryli heals me and I blast plan. So this happens after her action.

Eugeni flies up above the prismatic wall and the fog. He wants to smash Karzoug with his own arcane might, but the bastard is out of range. So, he turns to the pet dragon instead. "Die wyrm!"

Ameiko activates the fly spell in her ioun stone and flies out of the cloudkill.

"Whaa--hey, NO WAY!" Frustrated to be cut off, Zoli clicks her heels together and then flies straight up over the wall, and forward a bit.

She looks down into the fog and hollers to her companions: "Stay bold and Chaldira Zuzaristan will watch over you!"

"I know you have your own Celestial Armor, but if you wait a second, I can get us both over the wall," says Lady Jeevika.

Elthariel nods in understanding. While the Holy Vindicator prepares to cast her spell, the long lost Edasseril taps her friend with the Staff of Healing she was still carrying. While Elthariel herself was more injured, she felt that keeping Jeevika up and active would ultimately be more... advantageous in their final fight against Karzoug.

Elthariel waits until the spell was cast. Once it was done, she began slowly walking up into the air. Knowing that it will take some time for her and Jeevika to ramp up, the ancient ranger finds herself hoping the others are alright...

Standard: Elthariel casts Cure Serious Wounds on Jeevika via the Staff of Healing (4/10 Charges Remaining).

Move: Elthariel waits until Jeevika casts Communal Air Walk on them both. Once the spell goes off, she and Jeevika walk upwards fifteen feet in the air.

Finally, if Karzoug targets her with a spell before her next turn, Jeevika will use Borrow Fortune as an immediate action.

"Get out of the green mist," Ryli tells the dinosaurs in the language of all living things. Olympus also hears this and takes to the air. The dinosaurs hop over the rivers of lava.

Meanwhile, Ryli touches Eugeni with a spell to heal him, then swiftly Wild Shapes to a huge air elemental and rises out of the gas.

Standard: cast spell. Swift: Wild Shape. Move: Fly up. Free: Speak and command Olympus.

Hopefully the gargantuan T-rex can step 5 feet without needing an acrobatics check

The two glowing T-rexes move to the nearby platforms and each take a bite out of the giants.

Lorthan, nearly dead, flies up and out of the reach of the nearby giant and takes refuge in the corner.

Oh, Ryli and Olympus are flying up and over the wall of force if there's room.

Eugeni gets his quickened spell off, then begins to weave more offensive magic now that he has been healed, when suddenly more lightning crackles through his body and bounces to his nearby allies, causing him to nearly loose his mental grasp on the spell...but only nearly! The storm giant to the north glowers menacingly at the mage as the lightning settles on his fingertips, drawing his blade...

The rune giant steps up with his massive blade and swings a vicious blow at Ayruzi, but his own exhaustion causes him to narrowly miss the Angel! Meanwhile, the storm giant to the south thrusts his sword up into the T-Rex that has his jaws latched on him, causing the creature to vanish back to its home.

Ayruzi barely ducks the rune giant's massive greatsword, thanks to its exhaustion.

He floats backward slightly, gestures, and calls out, "May the blades of justice lay bear your misdeeds!"

With a wave a wall of dancing blades appears across the two storm giants.

Per conversation on r20, the N one can't move and so takes the damage. The S one avoids it, diving under the flying Ameiko (who can make an AoO on it)

Karzoug floats imperiously into the air with a scowl at the death of his dragon. ”Impressive, but futile.”

He works some magic and extends a hand toward Eugeni, who goes barreling backwards through the Prismatic Wall! When he emerges on the other side, he is badly burned and not moving hovering in the air over the lava!

Suddenly, another explosion wracks the corner where Lorthan and the T-Rex are. A voice calls out from near Karzoug ”You paupers come to steal what belongs to the Runelord! Be gone!”

Then, the Runelord grasps the rod at his side again, and suddenly the room is filled with a pair of clouds, one amongst Jeevika and Elthariel, and another amidst Ryli, Olympus, and Ayruzi. Ryli and Olympus can be heard hacking and retching from within!

Jeevika and Elthariel's Life Bubbles continue to protect them from the various cloud spells.

It is difficult to determine what is happening on the other side of the wall. Jeevika hears Lorthan roar in agony; she suddenly suspects that the silver dragon is probably not long for this world if he isn't already dead. Meanwhile, it sounds like her grandmother might be... incapacitated. Finally, there were Eugeni's final, agonizing moments as Karzoug tossed him through the Prismatic Wall.

"I think only Aryuzi and Zoli are left standing," Jeevika says with a sigh. "Maybe Ameiko."

Despite the newest cloud obscuring their vision, Jeevika can hear Elthariel starting to cry.

"H-He's going to win," the ancient ranger whimpers. "He'll just toss us all through this wall, and..."

A pause.

"...No," Jeevika says defiantly. "Stay next to me, and Karzoug will not hurt you, Elthariel."

Jeevika then metaphorically pulls the ace from her sleeve and casts her ultimate defense spell.

"Heal yourself, Elthariel. This barrier will protect us from most of his magic, but there are... edge cases," advises Jeevika very quietly.

Trying her best to calm herself, the lost Edasseril nods and channels the power of her staff.

The two then continue to slowly advance upwards...

Then--tears streaming--she hollers, "You bastard!" and takes off flying through the cloud. She goes toward where she last remembers seeing Karzoug, only to have to make a hard left turn when she sees that he's moved.

As she approaches she raises Wraithblade to swing, but fails to connect.

To the south, the other warden looks down at Ameiko and says in an emotionless, almost mechanical tone, ”You betray your master, Champion. I do what I must...” before unleashing a series of attacks against her! All three attacks narrowly miss the former Innkeeper!

Ayruzi puts his hand on the chain of holy symbols he wears around his neck, and points his greatsword at Karzoug, saying, "May the magics you hide behind be cast the the winds!"

A burst of light streams forth to hit Karzoug...only to bounce back and blast Ayruzi instead!

Once across the room, he turns and incants a hastily cast spell, sending orbs of energy to collide with Ryli in retribution.

Knowing that keeping Zoli in the fight against Karzoug was their best bet, Ryli directs Olympus to fly her over to the lucky halfling. Then she swift wild shapes to a medium air elemental. Once Zoli hops on, she flies up to Karzoug.

Jeevika notices Elthariel tense when they heard the beating of draconic wings approaching them... and then relax in relief when they realize that it is just Lorthan. He is alive. Extremely beaten up, sure, but alive nonetheless.

"We should be helping them," says Elthariel as she heals herself again.

This whole battle wasn't playing out like Jeevika had hoped. She had anticipated them having some forewarning of the final confrontation. The Holy Vindicator had planned to charge at Karzoug fully powered up.

...She had never even gotten the chance to use her special candle!

"...You're right," Elthariel concedes as they start rising, now finally above the Prismatic Wall. Granted, they are now surrounded by that fog, but Jeevika's protective ward suppresses it within five feet of the Ambassador. "Will we be ready soon?"

The rune giant wearily walks over towards Ryli and Zoli, readying it’s sword against them. It takes a mighty swing at Ryli, cleaving her wispy body wide open with his blade! Zoli has to begin flying of her own volition again as the druid’s body begins to fall, but vanishes instead!

Seeing Ryli fall, Ameiko grievously injured, and Karzoug seemingly resistant to his magics, Ayruzi flies over to Ameiko and lays a hand on her back.

As he does a flash of silver light flows over her, healing her wounds.

Jeevika contemplates her continues buffing, but then she hears Ayruzi reveal that Karzoug has neutralized Zoli!

Enough stalling.

Much like the protagonist from The Gallant Garland (Setsuna's favorite fictional series), the Holy Vindicator boldly advances into battle and casts a powerful spell to aid her allies.

Seeing that she has a wide open path to fire thanks to Jeevika's ward suppressing the thick fog, Elthariel steps forward and drops the Staff of Healing. While useful, the device is almost out of charges, and she needs both her hands free now. She casts a spell, which focuses all of her latent fury on this one enemy.

She knocks an arrow and takes a deep breath.

The lost Edasseril silently prays to whatever gods who will listen that Jeevika's magics will protect her from Karzoug's wrath.

With far more care than usual, Elthariel fires a volley...

A moment later, however, he is flung bodily back through the Prismatic Wall, emerging on the other side sliding to a halt on the platform as a stone statue of himself falling through the air!

”Do you not see!?!? I am the Claimer! The Runelord above all others! Surrender to me now, and I might show you mercy! Continue this senseless crusade, and you will know only death and suffering!” Karzoug commands!

”I know you are back there, you murderous thief!” the voice calls out from Karzoug’s side again before another fireball erupts on the ground close enough to wash Ameiko in the flames!

The Rune Giant brandishes his weapon, prepared to defend his master from any who would advance...

Suddenly, Zoli reappears!

”I told you! Right Left Left Right!” the Wrathblade boasts!

Lion squeaks something back before dipping back into the familiar satchel.

”Yeah, whatever, ya sore los-HOLY S~~~!” the sword cries out as the giant takes three swings at the handling, who nimbly avoids the blade!

Torn between shoring up her defenses or boosting Elthariel's archery, Jeevika decides to play it safe. If Karzoug somehow tosses her through that Prismatic Wall, then the group's chances of victory will probably die with her. She isn't sure what Contingency Eugeni made to cheat death, but Jeevika certainly does have one ready. Wanting to keep the protective ward of her shield, she (reluctantly) drops Love Hurts and casts a spell that should protect her from a number of his magics.

Visualization of the Mind will be used for any spell that Karzoug casts on Jeevika where she fails a Will save.

Upon seeing Lorthan die, Elthariel's eyes go blank. She glances at Karzoug... and then takes a step to get a perfect line of fire on him. The Runelord of Greed is just outside the regular reach of her bow, but she doesn't care; the lost Edasseril has made more difficult shots before.

Somehow ignoring everything else in the way between her and the Runelord, Elthariel fires a targeted volley at Karzoug...

Thanks to Improved Precise Shot, Ellie's shots ignore AC bonuses and miss chance from anything less than total cover/concealment. The Blade Barrier only offers regular cover.
