"OK, OK, I'll spare him my wrath" Says the small halfling as she draws her tiny mace. "Better start speaking up my valuable friend or you may give me no choice. Alejia, where is she? ... And if I may add if don t fear me consider my friends here."

"The captain takes out a rapier.
"Please, please - don't kill me like you killed them. I'm more important as they are - so please, please don't kill me."
Action : Fully defensive
I assume you posted this in the wrong thread?
"Put down your weapon and yield or your life is forfeit", Markus warns.

Your crew tried to cut down my friend...give me a reason why I shouldn't do the same to you? We have some questions...you have some answers. Seems like a fair trade to me, wouldn't you say? Now do we have to tie you up or are you going to start playing nice?
Support Markus' Intimidate 1d20 ⇒ 5
Tal is thankful to have friends who are much more intimidating than he is.

Chanix slowly shifts and ululates, "You can't... kill me.... that easilyyyyyyyy" giving a near perfect shambling mound performance.

The Gippli drops his rapier.
"It wasn't me, it wasn't me. They attacked you. " He points towards the guard still on the floor. "And look - no real harm done - your friend is still up"
He points towards Chanix.
"Alejia is away and wants to take over a ship called the Topaz or similar. I think this is planned for tomorrow at noon not too far away.
But please - let me go."

Tal will also attempt to ascertain whether or not this captain is telling us the whole truth.
Sense Motive 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
At an appropriate moment Tal begs Priscilla's attention.

"I don't believe that's happening anytime soon", Markus growls as he fishes out some rope and begins binding the prisoner.
"You're going to show us how to find her first."

![]() |

Chanix raises a hand to participate in the interrogation and slumps against the mast.

![]() |

"I can show you, I can show you."
Leading you to the captains cabin he shows you some maps with a rendezvous point close by.
"But it is too late now, my crew is gone, you can't reach there with this ship unless you are sailors yourself."
The Gippli seems to have no backbone. Under pressure he will talk - possibly even tell just what you want to hear. But at least all other information seems to point to the fact that this part is actually true.
You have enough time - provided you can sail this ship - or find someone who can.

![]() |

Minutes later Chanix stumbles into the captain's cabin. He mumbles something as he enters.
"Smulwarts..."
He slumps down against the door frame.
"I don't feel so good. "

![]() |

Chanix feels positive energy wash over him, restoring his vitality.
"Thanks for that Priscilla. I know just who we can get to sail this ship for us."He returns to the upper deck and peers over edge to see if Smulwarts is still around.
If she is...
Smulwarts! Everything's ok but come around to the side. I've got a job you can't refuse.
The idea here is to instill Smulwarts as the captain and the captain as the crew. While she is maneuvering around the side Chanix will slit the throat of the fallen crewman on the lower deck and search the body for useful armor/weapons/items.
Perception on the body for hidden pockets etc. 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
Chanix returns to the captain's cabin.
Can I get some muscle out here to help board our new captain?" he says with a sly grin.

I intended to play Priscilla as a healer type. As this my first pbp, I am often confused about where people are and at what time count. Needles to say that with my great damage, I would rather aboost or heal rather than do 1hp hits

The brutish Varisian touches the area where the bomb had wounded him along his shoulder and was now freshly healed scar tissue.
"Thank your goddess for me Priscilla."
Markus will help bring Chanix's friend aboard.

Toren walks over to help Smulwarts up. After that, he walks over to Markus and says, "Thanks for carryin' me Tessa...any chance I could have'r back now?"

![]() |

Smulwarts gets hoisted up to the ship. He walks up and down to inspect it.
"It's a nice ship. It has seen better times - but still fully sea worthy."
He then looks at the blubbering former captain
"I wouldn't take him. At sea you need to trust your sailors. But no worry - I know exactly whom to ask. He was once a great sailor - has fallen on hard times as I have. Lost his ship to - well - that doesn't matter here.
But if you want to go against pirates - then he is the best sailor not taken in Riddleport at the moment. And I'm sure he still has two or three comrades from his old crew.
Just give me half an hour and I will get him for you - off course - only when you agree "

Will these men cost us much or is the price of adventure enough payment?

![]() |

You likely want to ask this Chanix.
Smulwarts is an ex-Pathfinder - and as far as you are concerned - his motives are true.
"You won't regret your choice. The crew I know are honest dwarven pirates. They have hit a tough stretch when they lost their ship - the Starsinger.
The captain is Sherven Twobeards. He was my captain as I was still a member of the Pathfinders. Argus No-Beard is his right hand man. You haven't seen anyone who can throw a harpoon with more skill as he can.
Blind Jake - you have to see him in the rigging to believe it. Useless as lookout - but once he is on the rigging I would prefer him over any one who still has both his eyes.
Ancient Hubert - he is getting on with his years and has no teeth anymore - but his hands and tongues are still as good as a dwarf not even half his age.
And Hobble - he lost a leg to a shark. He hasn't as nice a peg leg as I have
"
He proudly shows off his new MW peg leg
"They might all not look much - but I can vow for them - they once have been the best. And don't worry about the payment. This here is Riddleport. If this gets the old crew back to sea - and maybe a chance to get a ship again - in case you don't need the Lionfish afterwards - then we are in your debt and not vice versa."

Searching the ship:
The captain had a MW rapier - it is a small weapon (useful for Priscilla until end of the adventure if she can use it).
In the ship you find a masterwork hook hand, 5 barrels of cheap rum (25 gp per barrel), and a Large, ornate treasure chest.(45 gp) with a sextant in it (500 gp).
In addition, in the captain's quarters are the nautical charts that Alejia entrusted Mumbuckle with, which plot the planned coordinates of the Topaz Titan. Several notes to Mumbuckle from Alejia, delivered via carrier raven, inform the PCs that Alejia has boarded the Topaz Titan at Kalsgard and that the Lionfish is to meet her at sundown on Moonday - which is tomorrow.

"Smulwarts, fetch your men. We have no time to waste."
Chanix turns to the group,
Now, what do we do with this one?, as he thumbs the air towards the captain.

![]() |

"The plank it is!"

![]() |

Artemis gestures at Chanix.
"I believe that is your call to make. His men almost killed you."
Indeed. While killing a man in cold blood is not necessarily my style, when you add vengeance and a potential future threat into the mix the morality becomes a bit cloudy.
I suspect the safe return of this ship is all the leverage we need to ensure his full cooperation?

![]() |

can't use the rapier as of yet Priscilla is starting to feel the reality of the dangers of the road. If nothing is asked of her she will try to find some rest while awaiting the crews return. She can still channel energy twice and cast 1 CLW before resting. She does not want to witness the planking.

"Priscilla, before you go would you mind taking a look at this gash on my back again?"

Priscilla thanks her goddesses in a prayer. "Show me the way." More at peace she doses off in a rope coil. note dream related character trait

"Dwarves eh? Couldn't imagine a better lot ta sail us out...excepting maybe some taller peopele HAH! Should be good fun gettin' to the Titan with these dwarves."
Toren leans his shield against a wall and lies on it an angle...almost like a hammock.
"I think I'll rest a bit here whilst you take care of froggy captain there."
