Tassira and Kariel move full speed at the zombies by the door to the courtyard. The zombies noticing the living in the courtyard enter in and move toward the pair.

Round 2

Hirako moves toward the downed zombies in the cortyard to retrive her thrown dagger and probably everyone else's weapons as well.

The Innkeeper and his family move out of the inn and into the courtyard.

Krag, Marrovak, Captain Miles, and the others move at double speed to try to get to the oncoming zombies before Tassira and Kariel but none of them quite make it.

Kariel focused on her divine patrons as she got close to the zombies, and in response, a swirl of positive energy gathered into her hand.

Cast and Hold: Cure Light Wounds. 4 1st level spells left today.

She didn't run forward, though - it had, after all, occurred to her that running headlong into a group of zombies, ahead of everyone else, might not actually be the best plan. At the very least, it might be a bit more sensible of her to let the others distract the undead first so that she could simply dart in and hammer them with positive energy. She, er, wasn't a very good fighter anyway, and there was a difference between helping and just being flat-out crazy - or worse, putting others at risk through your own stupidity.

Kariel had somehow managed to avoid the creature's attack - and she responded immediately, striking out with her open palm and aiming right for the chest of the zombie. Kariel quietly held onto her things - she remembered seeing other zombies out the windows on the back side of the Inn... but it probably wasn't a good plan to try and fight every zombie here, and she hadn't seen anyone in that direction that needed help. She nodded her assent, and blew a short, sharp blast on her signal whistle in case anyone else was around that could hear it. They'd probably be safer if they could gather together, and she'd periodically send out another sound for the benefit of those she hoped were following.

Loping forward, Vigar leads the way as he saddles the horses if there are any.

Vigar and some of the others gets the horses from out of ths stables ready but no one wants to fight from atop a horse so George (the innkeeper) and his brother Marco and their wives agree to lead the horses.

George says "The shire is about 100 yards or so to north, on the other side of the road."

This next bit is a little frustrating, the adventure does not provide tactical maps for the villiage streets. On the map of Pommeville the party makes it to road just north of building 9 when ...

It is cold and wet outside, with an evil mist rising from the ground. There is only a sliver of a moon tonight, and the shadows are deep and threatening. As you burst out of the inn's courtyard, you are horrified to see dozens of moaning zombies prowling throught the town. A villiager across the road screams and falls beneath the clutching claws of three of the awful things. Even as you take in this terrible scence, you realize that you may be next! Dark, leering forms are closing in on you from every direction. You count half a dozen in a single glance with more staggering down the road toward you.

1.Three zombies 30 feet to the west of the party attacting the villiager.
2.Six zombies 20 feet to the north of the party advancing toward your group.
3.Two zombies 30 feet to the south of the party advancing toward your group.
4.3d4 ⇒ (1, 3, 4) = 8 zombies 60 feet to the north of the party advancing toward your group.

Party is up. You get to take an action, then must roll for initative.

Round 2: Actions
Move Action: Move to Vigar
Standard Action: Use thunderstaff on Vigar's weapon

Things were looking up. The zombies were dropping like flies. It's enough to make Tassira smile again.

She heads over to Vigar and taps his halberd with an electrically-charged hand, like she did with Rowan. The halberd's head begins sparking.

"For luck!"

I finally found something I can do to help! Yes!

Kariel quickly knelt down by the injured villager and placed her hands on his body before focusing on the power of the gods. She didn't want to use her greater magic on someone who wasn't injured worse than this, but even if she didn't do that, she could provide a nigh-endless (if slow) stream of lower-level restoration... and it would probably be better for the villagers if they could stay on their feet long enough to get to safety, where she could finish the treatments.

Seeing the sparkle on his weapon, Vigar smiles in thanks to Tassira as he hefts his newly sparkling halberd and seeks new zombies to slay. Seeing his twin left with targets, he charges in, his fustrations at his own inability to strike something setting in as his eyes glow white, unleashing the inner beast temporarily.

Out of Combat

The group incorporates the revived villager (Rene the Cabinetmaker) and make it about 40 yards further north, picking up another 10 villagers ( including 6 young children) and killing another six zombies. Then ...

Distant screams and the sounds of fighting still reach your ears as you pause to take stock of the situation. Your band gathers around, resting for a moment. Suddenly, you sight a group sf stealthy shadows moving toward you and your companions!

"Who goes ther?" cries a voice in the dark. The shadows creep closer, and you see that they are armed villagers led by a stern faced woman wearing leather armor.

One of your companions says "That's Nichole, the mayor."

"Friends. We're travelers from the Inn, with some of your own we picked up along the way." Kariel noted, gesturing slightly to the children. "I'd be happy to answer any questions you have, but would you mind taking them to safety first? We don't know when more of the undead will attack." Adults were at least better at fending for themselves - but there was no way her conscience would allow her to keep children in harm's way if there was any possibility of avoiding that. They were the highest priority right now, followed by trying to ensure the safety of everyone else.

We can try. Can you get these people to the shrine yourselves?

Sorry about posting in the other party's gameplay.

"Yes, we can."

Hirako, Cerene, Shanna Half Elf, the Innkeepers and the other villagers are all going to go with the mayor's group to the shrine. Captain Miles, and Brother Nicholas, will continue with the party.

The zombies' trail is not hard to follow. Tatters of clothing and splatters of blood clearly show their path. They dragged their victims north along Pommeville's main road, and turned off at a winding lane that leads into the woods. Brother Nicholas says that the path goes to the cemetery.

As you approach, you can make out an eerie witch-light pulsing over the graveyard. The edge of the graveyard closest to the pathway is clearly the scene of a horrific battle. Dozens of zombies have been chopped up and parts are scatted about in a circle, at the center of which rest of pair of mostly dismembered zombies in chain mail armor leaning against a couple of tombstones. One still clutches a greatsword, the other a spear. They each wear a rotting tabard over their armor on which a golden dragon is rampart.

DC15 Perception to read the tombstones at a distance:
A knight is sworn to valour

His heart knows only virtue

His blade defends the helpless

His might upholds the weak

His word speaks only truth

His wrath undoes the wicked.

Elsewhere in the cemetery the eldritch foxfire plays on the cold stones and silhouettes a macabre scene. Ten zombies are standing are standing in a circle in the graveyard's center, clutching five villagers in their filthy hands.

In the middle of the ring, a tall and well preserved zombie stands with its hands locked around the head of a shrieking villager. Evil light burns like green fire in the zombie's eyes, and with a moan of hellish pleasure it drains the life from the hapless farmer, whose ash grey corpse tumbles to the ground. It licks it lips and says "More!". The other zombies drag a fresh victim before the creature in the center of the ring.

She couldn't stop herself. Her halo burst into brilliant light above her head as she saw what was happening, and righteous anger blazed within her. Her arm was halfway up to start spellcasting when she caught sight of it - and she abruptly stopped as the memories hit her with full force. Her restored arm, the gifts from the gods, and everything Korada had taught about forgiveness... Kariel exhaled, trying to let go of her anger. It took her a few moments, but she finally began to speak in something that approached a far more normal tone. "You are not going to win this." the Aasimar said, preparing to support her allies. "But it's your choice on whether to face the wrath or benevolence of the gods when your soul appears before them. Your afterlife will be far better if you submit to their mercy."
