Casting: When casting a spell defensivly if you fail you do not automaticly lose the spell, rather you provoke an attack as you normally would for not casting defensive. If you are hit you must make a concentration check dc 10+damage taken if you fail this check you lose the spell.

Rolls:
Many rolls will be handled by the GM in secret.(don't worry, I don't fudge.)
Any result that can influence the character behavior will not be rolled open.
Rolls that will be handled by the GM:
Perception
Sense Motive.

if you make the check I will send you a pm or make a post and put it in a spoiler depending on the situation.

Sometimes I will roll Initiative others I will ask you to roll depending on the situation. In some situation (rarely) I will bypass init entirely and have you all go first and enemies second or have enemies go first and you all go after.

Combat rules:
I'm a fair GM, I dont roll combat in secret, I don't change results, I don't ignore bad calls from the characters.
Sometimes, character dies, but I'm not a player killer, if I think that an encounter will be easy handled, when it should be more challenging, I will make it a more challenging, if the party it's not prepared to face something, I will drop hints, if they insist... well killing one or two players never made me lack sleep...

Actions:
I'm a GM that do not punish the character for trying something new or cool, or even strange. Visual appealing actions are encouraged, the dc will of course depend on what are you trying, but you can try! If what you want to do is wicked cool, I can even bend the game mechanics to allow it! The most importat part is: You are villains. Villains are smart, resourceful and have style! Have you ever seen a memorable villain that could just swing his sword and do nothing more?

Posting Rate
If it could be done, I expect 1/day posting, if you can post more, it will really good.
During weekend, this rule does not apply. If you are able to post, great! But dont stress over this, everyone need some time to rest (In my case, I need time to play and DM :D on my tabletop games).

Level up
Aside from character creation, when you level up, if you want something not from core rulebook, you'll need to search it inside the game. basicly what you need to do is just show in game your character is searching for that knowledge. This rule is not meant to prohibit anything, I just don't like something like this: "Character always as a full caster, never picked up a sword in his entire life, and then he gain a new level and says: Master, I'll level up as a fighter now..."

"No!" Barked Orlando at Raven's suggestion.
"I'm sorry. I am sorry beyond words that those creatures have befouled this proud citadel, and I'm especially sorry about your family Aeron; but we cannot dally until we seize the wardstone!
"Any delay can permit the enemy to move the stone elsewhere out of reach, and render our sacrifices to be in vain.
"We must press on!"

Yeah, I forgot about that...

Now that combat had ended and the mists had receded, Varn once again was able to get a glimpse at the horrible effigy of Gods only know what. He can feel a terrible fury building inside of him at what happened to the good people of Kenabres... True they dwelt within the walls of a fortress inside the Worldwound, but there is nothing that could justify this.

He moves to assist Aeron with arranging the dead until the giant of a man suddenly stops upon seeing what Varn could only assume was the body of his mother. The wizard never knew his own parents, they had both perished long ago alone in the Worldwound on some secret mission for the Riftwardens... He suddenly wondered if they had also met such a terrible end.

He walks over and places a hand on Aeron's shoulder. "I am sorry my friend, if only we had come here first instead of the library. We may have been able to save her... For that I'm am so very sorry..."

Ah before I forget, did anyone take the holy symbols from the alchemist?

If you did:

They are covered in a potent contact poison. Please roll a fort save.

There is one last chamber not checked here. It used to be the quarters of the high priest but it has been converted into an alchemist lab.

The alchemical equipment on the table consists of a masterwork alchemy lab,but the contents of the plain-looking sword case are likely of more interest. Inside the case you find a sword. One that Irabeth recognizes.

"My father's sword?!? But how? why?"

You find a note

The note:
Lord Staunton,
I believe you will find the enclosed
weapon to be a singular and familiar delight,
for it once belonged to your old "friend"
Irabeth. She sold it to Kandro Nyserian, of
all people—I’ve no idea why. Kandro’s been
sitting on it for years—still would be,
except his home got smashed by an Ulkreth.
Shame. He managed to save the sword and
came here, begging for an escort north to
Drezen, doubtless so he could give you the
sword and weasel some cash to help him set
up a new home. I hope you don’t begrudge a
creativity I took—our friend Nyserian serves
now as a warm suit for a vermlek as punishment
for only revealing the sword now instead of
when he first acquired it. I suspect the blade
will take to your brother's touch nicely!
your loyal servant,

Othirubo

I sent a pm to Tessai about another matter as well so hopefully she post soon.

"Swordplay is not my forte, Lady Irabeth, and it seems it belongs to you anyway. I would encourage you to use it." says Raven looking about the rest of the alchemy lab for anything of value or use.

I didn't outright say I grabbed the silver holy symbols, but I did add them to the loot pile. I will take the Fort save and the consequences.

As her companions regroup, Tessai mostly stands guard for their safety, casually tossing a look at the multiple and valuable loot they have come across - These will be very useful for our endeavors, and even if not personally, it will contribute to the war effort - she ponders.

In spite of the danger they face, everything seems to be in place, but the tiefling turns around, spinning on her heels -"What?" - she stares at all of you intensely, then at the magnificent sword in hand, and finally around the room - "There is something else here, more than meets the eye" - she whispers as if speaking to herself, moving towards a wall and placing a hand upon it - "The Arms of Iomedae" - cryptic words escape Tessai's lips.

Varn nods at Aeron before following the rest as they continue on. Orlando was right, they needed to continue on and deal with the violation later. The wizard eyeballs the alchemy set with interest as they enter the next room, though it was something he would have to return to obtain later once they complete their task.

He declines Irabeth's offer to the blade, though he notes the fine craftsmanship of the longsword. "While I would appreciate such a fine blade, Lady Irabeth, I cannot in good conscious take your father's blade. You should wield it in the coming battle."

He spins suddenly at Tessai's cryptic phrases... He searches his knowledge of the gods to see if he knows anything about which Tessai speaks; The Arms of Iomedae...

Knowledge: Religion: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27 Not sure if it's relevant, but figure why not.

Orlando inspects the blade and smiled at Irabeth.
"It is a magnificent blade milady; but I would be mediocre at best at wielding such a sword. Surely it would be better used in your hands?"
He gives Irabeth a penetrating look.
"I wonder. Is it random fortune, or... the will of the gods that your path should cross this sword of your fathers at this time and this place, with us all on this heroic mission?"

As Tessai speaks the words "The arms of Iomedea" out loud a section of the wall were Tessai was looking opens up.

Stairs going to into the basement open.

you go down and find an armory. This chamber is free of dust. A holy symbol of Iomedae hangs unmolested on the wall above a weapon rack filled with swords, crossbows, and spears. Three wooden dummies wear pristine suits of armor. A shelf holds several leather quivers, each stamped with a golden sun. Two silver shields hang from pegs on the wall.

To save a bit of time I will assume you manage to identify the magic items.

The weapon racks here contains three masterwork cold iron longswords, two masterwork cold iron shortswords, two heavy crossbows, a composite longbow (+2 Str), a masterwork cold iron heavy mace, two cold iron longspears, 50 cold iron crossbow bolts, 100 cold iron arrows, a +1 cold iron longsword, 5 +1 holy arrows, and an arrow of evil outsider slaying.

The armor dummies hold two sets of masterwork chainmail and a +1 breastplate emblazoned with Iomedae’s holy symbol. The two heavy steel shields are both marked with the holy symbol of Iomedae. One is a masterwork shield, and the other is a +1 blinding shield.

Holy crap!

Varn stares in awe at the sheer amount of magical auras radiating from all the magical armament in the room. He turns to look at Tessai. "The Inheritor is with you, my dear." He quickly begins to identify the magical items and rambles off their properties to the party!

I'll just throw this out there... Varn would be interested in the magical cold iron longsword (or one of the masterwork cold iron longswords), some of the CI arrows, the longbow (if none of the martials, or Raven, wants it...), and one of the longspears (if one one else wants one). I know that's a bit, but given that Varn isn't the normal squishy wizard... I'm thinking about researching some transmutation spells to make him somewhat viable in melee when he starts running low on spells.

Hopping on for a second to give a quick status update. Moving's turned into a crazy nightmare where I'm essentially homeless for the next 48hrs. Moving the gear talk over to Discussion tab, so we can sort out who gets what (my whatta haul this time!).

A low whistle escapes the lips of Raven as the party stumbles into the armory. Already secure with her bow, she hands this fine weapon over to Varn along with 25 of the CI arrows.

She takes 25 cold iron, the magical holy arrows and the evil outsider slaying arrow for herself and leaves the rest to the group to discuss over.

Her quiver now full, Raven mumbles a prayer of thanks to the Inheritor. Following that bright light has gotten them this far, and she hopes the goddess' fortune will continue on them.

This is what it looks like when you climb the stairs. Let me know which area you would like to visit.

As the pathway opens to reveal the way to the amazing armory, Tessai's eyes gleam and she smiles.

Moving carefully and purposefully, she reaches for the Iomedaen holy symbol, picking it up and storing it safely with her belongings.

Unless of course it is not one that can be carried :D

As the group refits with the newly found gear, she adds - "This is a blessing my friends, and one that will help us in our endeavors. Even what is not of immediate use to us, will surely aid the Defender's Heart, where I am sure we can trade it"

Once they are ready to move along to the upper floor, she nods at their scouts, waiting for their check and feedback.

Irabeth is too impressed by the armory.

"I had heard that there were a dozen or so such stashes in town but I wasn't privy to their locations. Take what you can use of course but I would appreciate if you would donate the rest to the eagle watch. We have a shortage of cold iron weapons."

"Of course" - Tessai nods.

Male Human Bard1/Swash(Insp Blade)9/Myth Trick 3 AC27(31) (T21F17) CMD33 | HP97/97 | Saves F7R21W9 | Perc +7 | Init:+12 | Panache: 4/4 | MythPower: 8/9 | Bard Perf: 7/7 | Status: OK

Round 3_______________

Orlando just parries the cultist counterattack.

Move act: Whips his cape around to distract H2 again.
Feint (my Bluff vs his Sense Motive to attack his flat footed AC): 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (18) + 11 = 29

Standard act: He sneak attacks H2.

MW sword, dueling attack vs. FF AC: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11 for a possible 1d8 + 2 + 2d6 ⇒ (6) + 2 + (6, 6) = 20 cold iron, piercing damage.

Gaaaaah!

Have we lost an Adalric? :D

Orlando is going down a deceitful path from which there can be no reward :D

Round 3

Tessai had not forgotten about Varn's warning, and as she moves out the door from the room, the reason is clear, and the paladin immediately moves to engage their horrific opponent.

DireMerc, is the 'door at the end of the hall' the one south of Raven? If so, Tessai moves and attacks, if not, can she move close enough to the creature to attack it?

Radiance Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19
Damage if it hits: 1d8 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12

"I do not know from which hellspawn pit you stem from, but we will send you back monstrosity!" - she roars.

--Status--
HP: 33/39
AC: 21
Effects: Protection from Evil, -2 to Charisma
Spells spent: Lvl1 (2/4)

Map

It knocked down the door going into area 3 so it's off the current combat map.

I will post an expanded map a little later.

Round 3

Despite the entrance into the hallway of the horrendous beast, Raven maintains her concentration on the bowman (H2, I believe) she fired at last time. Exhaling, she releases another arrow at the man.

Raven Longbow, PBS, DA: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13
Dmg, PBS, DA: 1d8 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8

With Precise Shot, she doesn't take a penalty shooting into the melee, but it looks like this one likely misses anyway. Aldaric was moving, I believe and so may be out of communication for a time.

M Human Warpriest (Arsenal Chaplain) of Iomedae 2| HP 19 | AC 18 | T 14 | FF 14| CMD 18 | Fort +5 | Ref +4 | Will +5 | Init +5 | Perc +2

Adalric mentioned moving. Setting up new internet can be a real pain.

Buffs: Align Weapon:Good

With Tessai falling back, Aeron moves to engage the other cultist (H3) and attacks:

Attack vs H3: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (13) + 11 = 24
Damage: 2d6 + 18 ⇒ (6, 6) + 18 = 30

In that case, Tessai double moves as close as possible to it.

Round 3

Varn recoils at the sight of horrific creature as it breaks through the door, he turns to shout into the room for someone to assist he and Raven. "One of get out here now!" Thankfully Tessai appears at the same time and moves to engage the creature.

The wizard takes a moment in an attempt to identify the horrible monster! Know: Arcana: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (4) + 11 = 15. He then points his wand at it and lets loose with two bolts of energy that fly from the wand and strike the creature hard!

Magic Missile: 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (4, 1) + 2 = 7

Knowledge Arcana to identify. Using charge from Wand of Magic Missile, down to 10 charges.

Not sure what GM wants to do about me. Life Link should reduce some of the damage everyone's taken, but I'm too lost to figure out exactly how much. Assuming I'm in the room with everyone, I'll channel positive.

Channel: 3d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 5) = 8

Well, I'm not sure if Tessai will catch the channel, but she will heal from Life Link ;) Current hp: 38/39. Thanks Adalric!
