Liberty's Edge

I will send you the file for my character if it is easier (as I used Hero Lab to create him). PM me if that would help at all.

I am currently creating my character in Hero Lab. If someone will help teach me how to send the file I can do that as well.

And here is why I have taken so long getting to my character. I created a 'heritage line' for her.

Her name is Bellaluna. Yes, I'm a guy playing a female elf monk. (IF I get chosen.)

I would send you my character file but my desktop is currently being de-bugged and isn't online. I'm sorry, but if you want to hold off on doing mine until we get started I should be able to get it to you then!

I made some format changes to my profile with the Hero Lab stat our DM has provided. I also added a pick of Psalm a personality and appearance bit.

Psalm Nackle wrote:

Where can I get that Hero Lab stat thing you mentioned?

And this is Stormstrider, finally posting my female Elven Monk. NOT complete, but just wanted to get Bella on the board!

The DM sent me a PM with the link to a Hero Lab Character sheet and the Stat Block. He will likely send one your way. He is putting all the characters in his Hero Lab so he can keep track of everything.

Feel free to let me know if you have any questions about my character.

Bellaluna, in Hero Lab go to the "File" menu, then click on "Output Hero Statblock." It will bring up a window with a bunch of different choices for output. You want to click on the "BBCode" tab. It will have everything set up with all the necessaries to just copy and paste it right into your Paizo profile. They even have a nice convenient "Copy" button that will copy the entirety of the code to your computer's clipboard! :D Hero Lab, it's super useful!!!

To everyone, I'll be finishing up putting everyone's characters into my Hero Lab this morning, and I decided instead of individually PMing everybody their character sheet, I'll just deposit all the character sheets into my Google Drive in an open to the public folder, and post a link to that folder here. Then everyone can go in and not only take a look at their character, but everyone else's characters as well. Then we can start the earnest discussion about who wants to be grouped with whom. I'm strongly leaning towards making two groups, and I'm also strongly leaning toward accepting everyone's submissions. :D Cause, why not? The more the merrier right? So once you've had a chance to take a good look at all the characters then I'll want your opinion about other characters that you think your character would be naturally inclined to party up with to achieve personal and team goals.

Would everyone do me a huge solid and sound off the following: Character's Name, Gender, Alignment, Race, Class, Background, and Deity (if any)?

I'd appreciate it. I'm double checking stuff now.

Thanks!
Mended

The Exchange

Character's Name: Lindaer Elyrien
Gender: Male
Alignment: Lawful Good (with chaotic tendencies. I really dislike the alignment system)
Race: Half-Elf
Class: Paladin
Background: Reformed Criminal
Deity: Amren

Oh don't worry, I've always used alignment as a tool to help inform player role play choices, not a dictatorial system by which you must adhere to or suffer and die. :P :D To be lawful with chaotic tendencies only makes sense for a reformed criminal. If a law is causing the commoners to suffer, it SHOULD be ignored or outright disobeyed. :)

The Exchange

Glad we are on the same page. :)

All right everyone, I am still waiting on the crunchy and fluffy bits of Bellaluna, but Stormstrider and I have been in constant contact PM, and he has a very solid grasp of what he wants to put together, and since I said I wouldn't close recruiting until tomorrow, I plan on giving him all that time to get everything finalized.

However!

I do have everyone else built in my version of Hero Lab.

This link is to a public folder in the Google Drive on one of my gmail accounts (the one I use for gaming stuff). In that folder you will find the Hero Lab portfolio file, so that those of you that have Hero Lab with the 5e SRD unlocked can open it and take a closer look. You will also find a 35 page PDF that contains everyone's character sheet as printed from Hero Lab (in alphabetical order). Please take a look at, not only (and especially), your own character's sheet, but those of the other characters as well, and start really thinking about which other characters your character would most likely team up with.

Also please don't forget to sound off on the previous requested items, so I can double check that. Moving forward I'm going to be waiting on Bellaluna's complete character details, everyone to sound off on the particulars I asked for, and everyone's opinions about a party grouping they think they would enjoy/makes the most roleplay sense. More than likely I'll make my final decisions on party makeup next week, but I want to hear from everyone before I do that. :)

Getting closer...

Character Name: Nikeisha (no surname, as she has no idea who her family is).

Character's Name: Jun Valanthe

Gender, Alignment, Race, Class: Male LN Half-Elf Bard

Background: Guild Merchant

Deity: None

Character Name: Boddunuck
Sex: Male
Alignment: Chaotic Good
Race: Forest Gnome
Class: Wizard
Background: Folk Hero (modified)
Deity: None (yet :-))

Character Name: Quintavelxaq "Quint" Rue
Sex: Male
Alignment: Chaotic Good.
Race: Gnome
Class: Rogue
Background: Urchin
Deity: None in particular

There are several errors I noticed on my character sheet. Sorry, I can't edit the Hero Lab file (I own Hero lab but don't have 5th edition).

Stats : My stats are 9,14,16,20,13,13
Changing those should change my skills to the appropriate values

The cat gets to carry himself, the fat little guy (11 lbs? He is walking :-))

The Folk hero isn't quite right since I modified it. Its basically close enough, though.

Traits are more friendly, gregarious, compassionate.

And his ideal is another one I modified :
Ideal - People deserve a life free from evil and danger

I'm willing to adventure with whomever but I'll just put in my immediate reaction to the various characters that spark an immediate reaction in my mind. If not listed, no spark :-).

Drun - Body would be absolutely petrified of him at first before he realized that he was a good, civilized person. Sounds like that could be amusing
Gomdebo - Baen would want to help him. He might even know of him since their backgrounds sort of intersect
Nikeisha - They have totally different outlooks and attitudes but share goals. I think it is quite possible that he'd end up liking her a lot. And she probably provides the pragmatism that would help :-)
Psalm- A forest Gnome? A druid? Wonderful :-). Note, that is Boddy's reaction. Having two forest gnomes in the same group might be redundant and excessive :-)
Quint - A THIRD Forest Gnome? Ok, that is getting silly :-). Less overlap with Boddy. But PLEASE do not put all 3 of us into 1 group :-)

The Exchange

Now you know that he will run a 3 man all gnome group.

(Note: I’m currently in a game with 7 dwarves. No, there is no Snow White. Yet. It’s a blast. And as a selfless plug, I get to play a dwarven skald who doesn’t sing, but instead chants grudges. My point is, all one race groups can be awesome)

Character's Name: Drun of Saxwyn
Gender: Male
Alignment: Lawful Good
Race: Half-Orc
Class: Paladin
Background: Outcast
Deity: Saxwyn

And just FYI his name is pronounced D-run. Whatever his first name was, it was shortened to "D" and he was always ordered to run about completing the most menial tasks.

"D-run over to the stores and get us some ale!'
"D-run and get my sword!"
"D-run you, lousy little half-breed, before we kill you!"

and the like...

3 gnomes and Drun!! lol That would be a lot of fun!!!

That's funny. In my mind I was pronouncing it d-rune.

Originally so was I...until I began to think about it...then D-run seemed appropriate for a 'half-breed' who most of the tribe ignored, if not out-right hated!

Love the picture of him on my sheet too...I like the addition of the face-mask...might have to add that into his story...

Character's Name: Psalm Nackle

Gender: Male
Alignment: Chaotic Good
Race: Forest Gnome
Class: Mountain Circle Druid
Background: Hermit
Deity: Aldellion

I went Chaotic Good because of the Aldellion connection to some druids. It feels weird to not have the word Neutral in a druid's alignment.

Character Name: BellaLuna Liaqirelle
Gender: Female
Alignment: NG
Race: High Elf
Class: Monk
Background: Noble
Deity: Aldellion (But, just becase she's an elf. She is not really religious.

So, Mended told me how to get Hero Lab to show the the whole statblock in BBC code, and copy it, but how do I paste that into my profile?

If you edit your profile, you'll see a whole bunch of fields.

3 of these (Race, Classes/Levels, Gender) all show up in your posts.

Note, they do NOT show up in the recruitment thread so you can't see them here.

Here is a post I made for a Starfinder game. You can see how it all looks (the very first line of the post contains all sorts of information)..

I like the idea of having one team made up entirely of sneaky scoundrels. This group should definitely include:

Quintavelxaq "Quint" Rue (rogue)
Gomdebo Blackbuster (rogue)
Nikeisha (Warlock)
Shenkt "Hack" Corchran (barbarian)
Tavir Nethuani (bard)

All of whom are chaotic characters proficient in stealth. The following characters would make good additions as well:

Lindaer Elyrien (paladin)
Boddynuck (Wizard)

This should be half of the characters, since I believe BellaLuna brings us to a total of 14.

Baen "The Brave" Cobbleson
Gender: Male
Alignment: Neutral Good
Race: Human
Class: Bard
Background: Folk Hero
Deity: Aldellion

Lindaer is still a paladin.

“Hack! No, you can’t kill him.”
“Rue! Put that back. It is stealing, no matter how much you think you need it. Pay for it!”
“Tavir, our that back. Wait, where did Rue go?”
“Gods! Hack, what did I just say? Look I’m really sorry about this. These people do not represent the church.”

Yeah, I wasn't sure how you would play it. Your sheet in the PDF says Chaotic Good, but maybe someone like Psalm would be a better fit.

Yay! My character sheet and all gear and that stuff is done! Now I just gotta write up my background.

@Lindaer: Love it! I would play it the same way!

My Drive Folder is updated now with all the fixes needed for Boddynuck (sorry about that, that was just a total brain fart on my part; I never even input your ability scores! Fixed your background items as well.) and the addition of Bellaluna (yay!), in both the HL file, and the PDF of character sheets. Please give everything another look over as you have opportunity, and let me know if I missed anything, or you want to change anything.

Recruitment is now closed, and those who are still interested in playing who have not yet sounded off with their: Character Name, Gender, Race, Class, Background, Alignment, and Deity (if any) must do so before 8:00 AM (GMT -6) Monday (December 4th) or they will no longer be considered for inclusion.

Thank you all for your interest in playing 5e in my homebrewed setting! I am overwhelmed by the amount of interest, and I very much look forward to fleshing out the world of Eafphqu with your help. Speaking of which!!! I came to a decision the other day. Since I will be running more than one PbP group in "my" setting, and, I also believe I mentioned I've just begun getting things ready to run an actual tabletop group in the same setting, I've decided instead of trying to maintain several different "versions" of Eafphqu, I'll just warehouse everything on the same Google Site. What this means for you all is that you may look there someday and see something in the Characters or Maps sections that you don't recognize. When that happens it is because one of the other groups ran into an NPC, new locale, or was outright given a mpa, and I put the info on the site so that I can keep track of everything happening in the world of Eafphqu. To me this just makes sense, because if Eafphqu is to be a "living breathing" world, all of the PCs and their adventures will be happening simultaneously, and may even overlap with each other. :) Who knows, all three groups might just meet in the same tavern some day! XD

Well, other than the gnome+paladin idea from above, I think the following would make a good group.

Drun - Paladin
Jun Valanthe - Bard
BellaLuna Liaqirelle - Monk
or
Shenkt "Hack" Corchran - Barbarian
Boddunuck - Wizard
Psalm Nackle - Druid

Mended, just a heads-up, here's another female!

So we got a female human, female dwarf, and a female High Elf! This could get interesting if any of them are in the same party.

I mean, it'll get interesting no matter what. I sure as hell wouldn't want to be the only girl, or one of two girls, in a group with 5 or 6 burly, angry, adventuring dudes... Girls obviously know how to take care of themselves before they ever even leave the "safety and security" of the city limits!!! :D

Title this post -- It's already happening...

Subtitle - Senders

So in working with my tabletop players and setting up backgrounds we realized that the Republic would need a way to send and receive reliable messages, quickly, to the provinces/cities outside the capital. Now, we could have just set up a frontier U.S.A. Pony Express kind of infrastructure, but in a world of magic there's got to be an easier way, right?

Right.

Enter the spell Sending. And thus was created the Senders faction. A group of capable casters in the employ of the Republic. They were recruited out of the Arcane Order because of their grasp of magic, their loyalty to the Republic, and their willingness to relocate. Senders are stationed in various cities and villages throughout the Republic, and, for a fee, will transmit any message you desire. This creates a revenue stream for the treasuries of both the Republic and the Arcane Order, and it also instantly becomes one of the government's premiere intelligence gathering agencies, as the messages that are sent cannot be secret. Of course it also creates the idea that a Sender could be corrupted, and be paid extra (read: bribed) to send secret messages for nefarious groups.

:) And Eafphqu just got a little bit smaller, and a little bit more real.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Putting my Republic Government Bureaucracy hat on I think the aspect of "Formal Recognition" bestowed on neighbors to the Republic suggests a modicum of Diplomatic Accord. As such I would think that there would be "Diplomatic Senders" that would exist in various emissary offices and used for messages as well as diplomatic channels.

This of course leads to the dark but natural side of diplomacy ESPIONAGE. So some senders are "Whispers" whose identity is secret who are part of the Republic's more discrete operations.

Which would, I believe, cause a huge surge in cryptography. You would have people send messages like this:

Ink

Hairpin

Apircots

Trumpet

Emmisary

Solvent

Pie

Ice

Eggplant

Skis

Beautiful, something I had only had peripheral/ephemeral thoughts about. Thoughts you have solidified. I'll add a tidbit to the Google Doc. :) Like I said, it's already happening.

Thinking more on this idea. A key question is how new of an idea is the network.

If its new its a novelty expression of Republic power and reach. Its a straight forward system that is relatively closed system.

If its an older system then wealthy politicians, merchant guilds, rebel networks, crime syndicates and so on would utilize this sort of system.

It would create a niche of sending hackers that would scry on the senders and so on.

My apologies to all in this group, but mainly Mended. I'm sorry I haven't gotten my backstory yet. I am having trouble focusing enough to write it and my sleep schedule is TOTALLY screwed up right now. I have been awake for about 18 hrs now?! Since about 7:30 pm yesterday. And feeling sleepy/tired, but can't get to sleep when I lay down. Hopefully I'll get to my backstory this afternoon/evening after a good 'nap'?
