About Boddynuck

Backstory:

Boddynuck grew up in a very small community of gnomes located in the wild forest just north of the River of the Republic’s Great Bend. A community completely unknown to the humans of the Republic and generally ignored by the Elves in their kingdom, although the latter did know of and occasionally act as protectors of the hamlet.

Even by gnomish standards Boddy was very intelligent and very curious about the world around him. But, until fate intervened, he would very probably have never left his home, never becoming the hero that he was fated to be.

But fate DID intervene. One day, when he was wandering in the woods near to his village, he chanced upon an Orcish war party. Being intelligent and not having a death wish he quickly hid from the Orcs. But it was then that he did something unusual, something that most of his people would not have done.

Instead of just hiding until the party had passed, he instead chose to shadow the party, to see where it was heading. For 4 days he trailed it until it became obvious to him that it was going towards an Elven village.

Although he was scared nearly out of his wits he managed to find the courage within himself to act. Using his innate magic abilities and a few animal friends he temporarily distracted the orcs so that he could get ahead of them and reach the village before the Orcs.

With his warning the elves were able to prepare an ambush and easily drove off the Orcs without any loss. Boddynuck, a young forest gnome, was suddenly a hero to the Elves!

Noticing his potential and in gratitude for his act the Elves decided to reward Boddy. They arranged for him to go study at the Arcane Order in Rydwyrna. As far as he knows, he is the first of his kind to ever have studied at the Order.

Boddy has just recently graduated from his studies at the Order and is now seeking his position in the world. He is loathe to just return to his village as there is so much of the world that he hasn't yet seen. But what can a lowly little Forest Gnome do to make a place for himself in the human republic?

Appearance:

Boddynuck is of fairly average appearance for a forest gnome. He is 3'5" tall and weighs in at 37 lbs. He habitually wears dark green or brown clothing, the better to blend into his traditional forest home. If one looks closely one can see that his clothing is embroidered with a great many figures of forest creatures and nature scenes.

He has a fairly dark complexion and dirty blonde hair. His hair sticks out in all directions, refusing to be tamed no matter what he does.

He is, for a gnome, barely out of adolescence and at 35 is quite young for a trained wizard.

Personality:

Boddynuck is very, very full of life, almost burbling over in his eagerness to experience new things, to enjoy life to its fullest, to satisfy his unending curiousity.

Although he is, in fact, extremely intelligent he doesn't really think of himself as such. He is aware of how much he does NOT know, of how much there still is to learn. He knows that he has some book knowledge but very little world experience. He tends to allow others to take charge, only making the occasional suggestion.

He is, of course, very friendly and gregarious. He sincerely wants to help others and is a kind and compassionate man.

Goals:

His goals are fairly simple right now. He mostly wants to experience the world and to find his place in it. He has spent the last few years absorbed in his studies and wants to LIVE a little.

He also wants to help others. People need all the help that they can get.
