Yay, I still haven't picked where my evolution point is going to go.... Need to decide it soon

Sphene_Axinite Clinohumite |

That was odd, I posted here and now its gone.
Sorry guys,
Sorry for dropping out for a wile, had RL stuff to deal
things seemed to have settled down for now, so im looking to slip, back into the game.
GM I wanted to have Sphene have some event that would pull her away, so I came up with the idea her family may like to meet her, of course as the most inappropriate time.
They are not really there, they are just projecting, from where they are, even they dont know where each other are, up to GM etc, there protecting places under mums orders
but when mother told them what had happened with the sterile egg from their clutch and well they wanted to meet Sphene, and check her out as a Sibling.
they dont have long, a spell that can project there minds to where she is take some power and the have guarding jobs to do, etc.
Also they want to ask her thing.
Ill write some posts, the idea is non of this will brake the game and is just more back story for her, she will pop back next day, and have something to explain why she flow off.
:)

DM Stalwart |

Well, like I said, (and I reread your farewell post), you said you were dropping out of the game. I sent you off abruptly, and was pretty much dropping the dragon stuff from the storyline.
We even added a new player and everything.
I want to think on this a little bit before I decide whether or not to bring you back in the game.
Hope you understand, but, well, this was unexpected.

Sphene_Axinite Clinohumite |

I think I should say that a RL event meant I had to drop every thing and get that done, my post dropping from all my one-line games went out to every thing, I really did not have the time to do more.
I did not realise I had been written off, I could have worded my post better, but I was not really do more then rushing things out at that time.
I feel Sphene can still be of use v the game, shes chilled a lot and now cares about the others, she is no CG and so would try and help them.
I just hope my RL have not killed of PC here,
be sad if it has.

DM Stalwart |

Sphene,
I've made the decision that it would be too disruptive to the game's narrative to bring you back.
Please know I thought very hard on this, and this was not an easy decision. I completely appreciate real life situations that can pull someone away. That always takes first priority, and I am mindful of that.
From the outset, this campaign was not a plug-and-play AP or module. I'm creating this adventure wholecloth from the characters and their actions. I'm responding to everyone's decisions in what I believe is best for the story and to drive a compelling narrative. So when you made the decision to leave, that changed many things -- the biggest of which being the addition of another player.
I'm sorry. Again, this was a difficult decision. If it makes you feel any better, this will give Sphene a happy ending, with her finding an actual family who will accept her and help her grow into the good person that she never thought she could be.

GM Wombat Player of Sphene
DM Stalwart, as a GM myself, I have this as rule 1 in any of my games.
"The GMs word is law"
[Rule 2: "If its not fun for you and the players, your doing it wrong"]
[Rule 3: Torch the GMs Nachos you die!]
So with RL, being a pain, really there was pain involved.
I must say am disappointed yes, but, I fully understand your call on this as the GM. Your game your rules.
I did run off with out warning, [very little I could do about that]
you had to move things along.
So my feelings and views aside
I do think your a good GM, I respect you call on this
and it was fun playing with the others players.
All the best to one and all.
PC:
DM Stalwart if you could be so kind, could you remove my plauer/PC from the game list of players thanks.
good bye and have fun.
DM Cap Wombat.

DM what is your judgement on buying into abilities? And do I have to meet the prerequisites?
I'm sorry I almost forgot about this. When you say abilities, do you mean evolutions? As it stands, I'm okay with ignoring prerequisites if there's an in-game situation (like with the bulette). As for buying into them, well, I'm okay with that, or you could use something as a placeholder, such as skilled. Just let me know what you're thinking. PM if you want.

I have some bad news, guys.
Life has gotten a whole lot busier as of late, with university taking way more of my time and needing to take a job to pay for my studies because my father isn't paying for them anymore. (He says I should be done already because I've failed a few classes over the three years of my study.)
I'm afraid I don't really have a choice but to... string you guys along with a joke. I'm plenty fine, my studies are going well, and I don't have any issues stopping me from doing PBP. This sentence is just here to make this post look longer so it'll seem like it's genuine at the beginning. Have a happy April Fools Day today.
I'm sorry.

Nanaki Oru |

OK this is all Jazzais fault but after her calling Naki "the doc" all I can picture him as is Emette Brown... Obsessed with getting you all back... To the FUTURE

Jazzai Moonbreaker |

Okay sheet made. I added the cold iron longspear and heavy mace because i couldn't remember who took them. I attached the Excel link in my header to let you guys look at it. Figured I could keep track of loot for you guys
Adrien, I got you a Sorcerer's kit, blanket and travelers outfit cause it has a nice cloak and was cheap.

Peacock |

Sounds great. Didn't want to ask for tht much. :P
You can remove the blanket you got Adrien, though. Blanket is the one thing he currently has, pretty much.

DM Stalwart |

Good to know.
I'm going to let you all in on something. I've been trying to seed this adventure with subtle plot hooks so you can set the direction of this game based on what you as a group want. I might have been too subtle, though, since I'm worried that you aren't sure what to do next. There should be no worries about going "off the rails" since there aren't rails to begin with. It's not really a sandbox, either. Maybe a web, with lots of different strands that sometimes connect and sometimes not.
I had hoped that since everything that has gone before is still on the boards ready to be referenced if needed, these possible strands could be recalled and pursued, but I can understand that's a lot of work.
Kane, don't forget your parents' journals can be used to make untrained knowledge checks.
In the interests of preventing this game from stalling too much, would you like some help in deciding where to go next? I could list here a few of the threads I'd set before you, should you decide to pick them up.

Jazzai Moonbreaker |

Sure, sometimes its good just to have a simple list to work off of. There are different strands I can see but its good to know if im right or wrong.

Nanaki Oru |

Just a heads up, my roommate has decided to drink every night for the last 4 months instead of paying the net and power bills so I'll be limited in my posting ability for the next little while. I can still post from work and my phone but that limits my ability to update maps and spreadsheets.

DM Stalwart |

Sorry to hear that, Naki.
Okay, here's a few things out there (in no particular order):
From the outset, there were locations of potential interest:
Barrow in the wastelands
Ruined fort
Demon Reaches (six mountains, Xov, Paz, Baph, Jez, Maz, and Flau).
Gnoll village
The city of Manakonlin
(Full disclosure: some of this was thrown out there before I had decided where to set this in Golarion -- and even if it really was Golarion, for that matter -- so I don't plan on getting too picky about geography.)
Obviously the orb has some sort of transportation power attached to it, but there's no telling where it will take you!
Kane has some clues about the hag's former lair.
Then there was Kane's friend Jazen who might be out there looking for him.
You could even go out looking for that forlarren you encountered, if you want.
I think that's most of them, come to think about it. I might recall more along the way.
And if anyone wants to PM me about certain threads they'd like to see for character development and the like, I welcome that.

Jazzai Moonbreaker |

Nanaki told me to pass on the message that his computer died and he will be unable to post for the time being.

Jazzai Moonbreaker |

That's okay, Summer seems hectic for a lot of people. ^.^

Peacock |

Heads-up:
The mid-session exams of the summer session are upon me, and they are beating me like cold-iron laced polearms.
I will most likely be unable to post until Saturday, June the 21st, but I will keep an eye on the site, just in case.
Thank you for your understanding.

Jazzai Moonbreaker |

Good luck. And set spears against those lance wielding knights!

Nanaki Oru |

I've got good news and bad news...
The bad news is, I was gone way to long...
The good news is I'm back! (and everything was backed up)
I'll work on getting caught up and post tonight or tomorrow!

DM Stalwart |

It has the Rake special ability.
Rake (Ex) A creature with this special attack gains extra natural attacks under certain conditions, typically when it grapples its foe. In addition to the options available to all grapplers, a monster with the rake ability gains two free claw attacks that it can use only against a grappled foe. The bonus and damage caused by these attacks is included in the creature's description. A monster with the rake ability must begin its turn already grappling to use its rake—it can't begin a grapple and rake in the same turn. (Emphasis added)
I thought long and hard on this; whether reversing a grapple (or being grappled rather than the being the grappler) prevented the rake attacks. I ended up deciding that being in a grapple (regardless of being the grappled or grappler) allows the rake attacks to come into play. And since they are free attacks, it could still attempt to reverse the grapple if it wanted to as its standard action. Obviously, when it grabbed Kane initially, it couldn't Rake because of that last sentence. So it had to still be grappling on its next turn to bring the Rake attacks to bear.
Keep in mind that the eidolon evolutions include the Rake special ability, so it's fair game for the players to pick up if you're so inclined.
I'll be happy to hear a rebuttal, if you know of an official ruling that says otherwise.
