Definitely forgot about lighting a torch. So much for stealth.

Just for illustrative purposes, the fountain looks like this one - except with bones and blood and all that stuff.

Oh fun. :)

Also, just et me know if I get too over the top or anything. I can overdo it at times.

By the way, would you guys prefer to be given a map of the caves you explore, or are you fine with how we've been running it thus far?

Theatre of the mind works for me, maps for combat only is fine. I'll probably ask a few clarification questions related to flying though.

That's largely not on the available maps anyway.

Well, maps do help for exploration when we're trying to figure out where we haven't visited yet. XD Fortunately, if you have a PDF copy, snapshotting and brushing over places the party hasn't been yet is pretty easy.

Male Human Investigator(3) l HP 24/24 l AC15, T13, FF12 l F +2 R +6 W +3 Ini +3 l Spd 30 l CMB +3, CMD 16

I like maps, but I don't know how to do it. Don't want to create a needless burden on you.

Google Images works very well for maps to move tokens on, and Imgur is an easy upload for static maps. ^^ I use both regularly for online games.

I think we'll keep going as we are, then. If extreme confusion arises, I might end up doing mapping for you, as you say it's fairly easy.

For now though, we have combat. All of you beat their initiatives, so that's good.

Whelp... that was fairly pathethic. Anyway, the entire party is up.

Alternative things to backtrack and explore, in order of you coming across them:

-The giant room with the fountain of blood and bones.
-The deep pool with giant frogs at the foot of the stairs.
-The eastern tunnel at the T section with the sinkhole.
In the lower part of the large cavern:
-The 4ft. deep pit in the northeastern side of the large cavern, and the tunnel beyond.
-The second tunnel in the large cavern, leading north-east.
-The half-concealed third tunnel in the large cavern, leading west.
Up on the ledge in the large cavern:
-The tunnel leading south from the large cavern. This is the one with the rats.

I support anything except the pool with the frogs. Fighting aquatic creatures in their element is a good way to get eaten.

How about the second tunnel in the large cavern?

I prefer to avoid the rat swarms because I think we are limited in our ability to fight them. Zatinya pops a single Burning Hands and then she's basically out of options. Totally forgot to buy Alchemist's Fire, which is an embarrassing oversight for a fire juggler. Just proposed Lorien's suggestion in-game.

If it helps, I deal full damage to swarms with my kinetic blasts. It's not as nice as having spammable AoE blasts to use on them, but...

Even with your blast dealing bludgeoning damage? Huh. I guess the kineticist isn't totally hosed.

I like to imagine a large bludgeon being the best thing for smacking swarms with, as opposed to, say, just kind of poking at the middle of their area. XD But yes, it's very clear on that. "Even the weakest kinetic blast involves a sizable mass of elemental matter or energy, so kinetic blasts always deal full damage to swarms of any size (though only area blasts deal extra damage to swarms)."

So, there's a rerecruitment going on for a game I'm in. The characters are great, the GM is good, and the only complaint I have is that it moves a little slowly. If you're looking for another game, check out the thread and see if you can think of something that tickles your fancy.

Zatinya has a move action but is not too keen on stepping into the vacated space and getting surrounded by rats on all sides. It's nice having the wall behind our backs. On the other hand, I'm willing to hear arguments on why getting more people into the action is worth it.

Male Human Investigator(3) l HP 24/24 l AC15, T13, FF12 l F +2 R +6 W +3 Ini +3 l Spd 30 l CMB +3, CMD 16

Yeah, it's a tough tactical situation alright. Can't see it helping us out a ton if you are totally surrounded. Seems like you would get hit 2 or 3 times at least. At the same time, the rats will keep backfilling any space we make for at least another 5 or 6 rounds and I'm not sure you and Arianna can hold out that long

Although maybe the answer is to keep pushing forward and use Lorian's channels to keep us alive.

Does anyone have some splash weapons on them? Arianna can keep the rats off Zatinya and fight defensively for a +2 to her AC, though she'll have to attack with only one weapon since the -4 is going to drive her hit chances down pretty hard. Zati can then toss the weapons that are handed to her to thin the swarm. Even if they succeed in their saves, they still take half-damage and dire rats don't have gobs of HP to begin with.

I don't get Impale until Level 7, and that's a line instead of a cone. I do agree that some kind of slash/explosive things would be pretty handy right now... we may want to go shopping in the near future and see if we can pick some up.

I could memorize one or two spells doing splash damage, but nothing at the moment. And Lorien is a buffer/Summoner, not a Damage dealer.

Guess we're doing this the hard way then, unless you think we can retreat quickly enough to get a barrier or three between us and the rats.

I would like to state for the record that I'm around, but until the situation changes Kesh can't act so he'll be Delaying every round until the way forward is clear. Just so I'm not repeating that every two days or so.

Sorry! I'm here! Except I'm headed on vacation tomorrow, so it might be a week before I post again.

Except if there's wifi, then I'll give this some attention in the evenings.

Gren can fit into Zatinya's square too, if both of them squeezes.
