I don't know if the Diplomacy to get info on Havelyn is talking with him or not, but if not I'll do that and see what I can glean from it. I'm also game to help find that hidden tunnel since I know not everyone in the party is good at Stealth, but I can also help do something like talk with the Captains or anything like that. I've been kind of running a show for a bit here, so I'm more than willing to step back and let other people do stuff for a while.
Morana Soto
Morana can cook, I actually put a rank in that one, so I could work on the poisoning front. And my steath is at a +10 so I 'should' be able to help find the tunnel. And for the people we are looking into should we split them up and everyone works on one person?
Soren Marsailles
We probably should, yes. Does anyone have Linguistics to make a forgery for Nathanial? Soren does not--I may put some ranks in that at a later day--but having those papers would make it easier on him. If people have skills to complete an objective I say they do it; if not, team up with someone else so we can get this stuff done quickly.
Morana Soto
Apparently I do have a +7 in linguistics. Hmm I forgot about that.

None of those checks involve talking to the Commanders directly.

Updates tonight.
I am placing this here in case any of you are interested in another Evil campaign.
the Shining Host
Sorry folks, Daughter went to bed and hour later than usual and I need to get up early tomorrow. I'll get to these updates tomorrow as I need to sort through your checks and set up events I/C for the next few weeks of I/C time.
Soren Marsailles
I dunno if people will see this at all, but I've noticed that both myself and some other players in games I'm running have lost their dots on... pretty much every game they're in. I'm not sure why it happened, but I recommend checking all the games you're in and potentially shooting a message to your players if you don't hear from them at all. I figured I'd throw this out there to make people aware if they missed this or something like that.
Morana Soto
That happened to me. I will be posting after work for this game. Same for the Cuthulu game since I see there is a lot to read in the text wall and work is very soon,.

Yeah DMing that Cthulhu game is work! :-)
Nathanial Torken
Yeah I have too many games to check manually so I've been missing out. Redotting.
Morana Soto
I roommate is perturbed at my random cackle. Story-time is glorious!
the Shining Host
The RP in this group is f*@#in' stellar guys.
I am going to shift us forward to the beginning of week 3.
Morana Soto
You did not answer my question. What is the day of week the show is on?

Starday which is essentially Saturday, the 6th day of the week (I may have said 5th but I was not looking at the Golarion calendar at the time). That would basically be day 20 out of the 30 you have to weaken the Tower.
Morana Soto
Grumble you are adorable! I laughed way to loud.
Soren Marsailles
Honestly, Grumble reading children's books is probably the most unexpectedly hilarious thing I've seen on the boards so far.
Morana Soto
It is right up there with musical goblins. Freaking precious :D
Morana Soto
I am going to share this because it is awesome and we are villain's. Most of his stuff is actually really cool.
the Shining Host
I figured I would put this in the OOC.
Great RP folks!
That aside, you have four options with respect to Captain Varning's patrol:
(1) Do nothing and hope they find nothing,
(2) track them during the time they are out starting the afternoon post their leave - if you wait too long they'll be too far ahead with the aid of horses,
(3) wait in ambush for them as their expected return date is known, you will need to know the route they have taken to do this as the northern lands are so wide open, or
(4) send the agents of Lamashtu after them.
Note - to track them down you will need to cross the river again as Aldencross is south of the Tower not north of the Tower. So you will either need to get a boat or swim it. It's doubtful that the Garrison would let you pass through without a great cover story and then doing so with Nate and Aurex may be tough as they are on duty more with the patrol out.
Morana Soto
I ended up in another game with him and he likewise has not posted there in a while so I fear so.
the Shining Host
I hope he is well as well, hate when people disappear like that as you don't know why :-(
You guys are cracking me up at 11 PM. I was getting sleepy now I;m awake after reading all of that.
I think we either: (1) go on with Vaundour as a DMPC until this book ends and keep the group as is or (2) I can recruit a new player.
Thoughts?
the Shining Host
From an IC perspective, it looks like the group has a few different ideas about how to handle the Rangers.
1) Track them down now,
2) Ambush them when the arrive, or
3) Let the Bugbears take care of them (though this assumes that the Bugbears are that close at the moment).
Let's see if we can't get that down to a single direction this week :-)
Grumble Jack
Vaundaur might come back. My vote would be to send him to the other in and sew as much chaos as possible while gathering info. Since he's posing as a spoiled noble he should be able to be super obnoxious and demanding to draw as much attention away from what the rest of us are doing as possible.
He could claim that the rooms in this inn just aren't nice enough for him, and go to the other one to make their lives miserable.
Then if the player comes back he can rejoin us.
Soren Marsailles
I prefer to ambush them as they arrive the night of the festival, especially considering that--as Soren will soon tell the others--Lord Havelyn wants to meet with her and/or Sir Balin the day afterward to discuss cult activity in the area. If we have nothing to go on, it's gonna be hard for him to not be suspicious of us at that time. Killing his captains provides the opportunity to pin their deaths on cult activity and sustain our reasons for being in the town itself. This gives us enough time to poison the soldiers and kill Havelyn; Soren's conversation with him has her interested in him and she personally would love to try and use their conversation to make him fall to the Dark Side rather than kill him. I find that to be unlikely out of character, but that's probably what she'd try to do before we outright kill him.
As for Vandour, I know he mentioned a while ago he may have some issues because of medications. I know that feeling and it looks like he hasn't posted anywhere in about a month. I think Grumble's suggestion is a good one, personally.
the Shining Host
Good idea with Vaundour. Once this chronicle ends if the player does not return we can revisit the issue.

OK, vote 1, 2, or 3 so we can move THAT particular plot point along!
Soren Marsailles
In character, it seems like the consensus is to ambush them when they get back and interrogate them as needed; I suggested we 'find' the bodies to promote cult activity but the others make a good point that others will likely find them and we can just claim they were killed by cultists when/if asked to investigate it. That's my vote.

Rounding out the female vote and agreeing with Soren and Alice.
Morana Soto
I am having some family drama / emergencies so please bot me if need be.
the Shining Host
Note that this is the same day the play is scheduled to debut in the Tower.
The next day, is the day that the chili will be delivered by Morana and Mama.
I will BOT Morana for the ambush scene until she returns.
