Note that this is the same day the play is scheduled to debut in the Tower.
The next day, is the day that the chili will be delivered by Morana and Mama.
I will BOT Morana for the ambush scene until she returns.
^ that's why I was in favor of ambushing him now.
If we wait, we'll be looking at heading out for the ambush, coming back, and then having our first exclusion into the fortress on the same night. I don't want to lose our shot at going into the fortress because we end up having to use too many spells and abilities on the ambush, or someone takes a stray crit and gets dropped.

Indeed but the tribe hath spoken!

Also, I would really like to sort out the stuff with Raaven trying to get solid evidence of the captain's wife's affair during week 2.
See the PM I sent you earlier tonight.

Yeah, so we'll have the rest of the day and the day after (at least until they're sick from the chili) toredt and recuperate. We'll regain our spells and have a chance to heal up before we take them on. I'm correct in that, yes? That was what I intended.

The family emergency turned into a death so please bot me if I am not posting. I will most likely go though bouts of frequent posting and then none at all for a while.

Very sorry to hear that.
We'll be here when you are ready to return.

Back not feeling that great and its getting late so I am going to head to bed in a few minutes, tomorrow afternoon I'll be home early and I'll update this thread.
Morana Soto
Thank you. I should be back to posting by monday though the remainder of the month will be rather sporadic.
the Shining Host
So it seems the option are:
1. Bear Traps and Hide (not a lot of cover to hide but there is snow and potentially spells) OR
2. Simply ride up and interact with the Patrol utilizing surprise to take them down (remember, they have mounts and you do not as you had to ford the river to get here).
the Shining Host
If you want to catch them sleeping you'll have to hurry up the trail ASAP! They are due back today.
I'll give you all a little more time to decide what to do...
the Shining Host
I'll give Grumble and Morana another day to Post before I bot them for the Constitution rolls. So far so good though!
the Shining Host
How many horses are their?
Seven, one for the Captain and six for his men.
Update now!
the Shining Host
Getting too late tonight to update and I have Table Top tomorrow night, updates Saturday.
the Shining Host
FYI, Morana is still with us, once she is feeling up to it, she'll jump back in.
She is currently 200' back and waiting to see if any get away so she can stop them from reaching the Tower..
the Shining Host
As a Slumber Witch, that's a really good job for her.
I'd rather have her here and feeling well but the class does lend itself to this tactic so there is a good I/C reason for it :-)
Let's see if these Rangers can give you all a good fight after surprise round 1 is over...
the Shining Host
Is there a map for this encounter?
Ill make one at the end if the surprise round. I suspect we may not need it...

The Variant Channel rules explicitly say creatures are effected, but it does not say if unattended objects are also effected.
I think it would be mostly negative for Grumble's channel energy to light everything around him on fire, but it would also be amusing and useful under the right circumstances. Thoughts?

Are you requesting that we utilize the rule of cool here? One of my favorite rules...

Well, hopefully that puts him down. If he hasn't bled out by the end of the fight (assuming he's down now, which I hope he is) I suggest we revive the captain without his weapons and interrogate him for information. I don't know how much we can learn from him, but better to give it a shot.

Hey all, this upcoming week is my final week of classes for my senior year of college, so posting may be a little sparse (or non-existant, really) until Saturday or so. I will do my best to keep posting and I will at the very least be reading what happens, so I'll be caught up, but I may not be too active. If I find free time (unlikely) I will post in when I can. Otherwise, expect to not see me unless I'm lucky.

However you want to do it. I can see both ways being cool, but blowing up everything is definitely more fitting with Grumblejack's personal style. On the other hand, it runs the risk of damaging or destroying valuables, so I can see the downside.
Anyone in the party have a preference?
the Shining Host
I had Grumble coming from the South while the rest of you came from the east thus none of you were in his "blast radius". No map needed here, I suspect that these last two will fall without much fight being put up.
Well done Knot! Max damage on those rolls really helped bring these soldiers down.

Sixty posts to read though! I should be able to get that done sometime tomorrow depending on when I get back to my precious computer. So much running around. Sorry I have been gone for so long and thank you for the patience. I am sad I missed out on all the fun it of the fight it seems. But I am glad I managed to contribute somehow :)
Having no point of reference but I am going to throw in my vote as burning everything does seem like Grumble's style.

That was fun to read. Sad I missed the whole fight but I should be back to normal posting in this game.

Despite his bravado, Captain Varning has told you something essential. The Gate is the key, he who controls the Gatehouse controls the Tower.
Nate, the heaviest soldier rotation is at the Gates.
Soren, you remember more soldiers there than anywhere else on your short tour.
Grumble Jack
Grumble doesn't know anything about magic, but I wanted to ask if Alice or Morana had Prestidigitation memorized. We could probably all stand to be cleaned up.
Morana Soto
Sorry for the lack of posting I had a very bad weekend. A whopping three bouts of hysterical crying as I had to surrender a cat to the pound and one of the dogs was hit by a car last night. Next weekend should be my last busy weekend, I hope. And might be less stressful.
Morana does not have Prestidigitation but she does have soap. Not that it will help our souls :)
the Shining Host
I assume you all want to head back to the river and cross? That will, of course not just be 1,2,3 at this time of day as the night crossing was.
After that, will you all attempt to see the play at the Tower? It would be the first time your group would attend en masse but as it is a special occasion it would make sense.
Grumble Jack
I think the play would make good cover for a lot of other actions. Everyone will be gathered in one place and not paying attention to other things.

As a heads up to everybody in all of my games, I will be having a drastic schedule change for the summer.
I am no longer working a normal 9-5 job (don't worry I didn't get fired, it was an internship position that ended), and instead will be only working on the weekends. I will not be able to post at all most weekends, expect maybe some quick posts late at night. During the week I should be able to post very often, perhaps not quite as much later in the day.
Also I will be spending quite a bit of the upcoming summer doing some world traveling, which will mean frequent vacations where I will most likely not be posting. I will let everybody know when I will be gone. Speaking of which, I will be gone this Monday through Wednesday. I can possibly sneak some quick posting in at night, but I wouldn't count on much.
However as a general note, my posting amount should generally increase since I will have a lot of free time during the week.
Thank you everybody for your understanding, and happy gaming!
