I would houserule that Pearls of Power work for spontaneous casters, because honestly, it's a smaller percentage increase for them than it is for a prepared caster, and it doesn't ameliorate their real limitation (number of available spells) in any meaningful way.

Yeah, I GMd a 10-hour game with one of my IRL groups today (Mina, Bardas, and Nurianna for you Skyknights, you remember those guys, right?), and we were talking about it briefly during a break. The point was brought up that it's nice for players 'cos then they don't have to carry around a golf bag of weapons to overcome various DRs, but for me as a GM, it just seems so arbitrary, and then it kind of totally defeats the purpose of weird or off-kilter DR, among other things.

I guess, in the end, put me in the camp of folks who don't care for that rule. Meh.

And then of course there's the prospect of someone casting greater magic weapon or something similar and bypassing any difficulties entirely. Potentially very annoying. Plus it encourages players to invest in boring old +3 weapons, rather than picking out interesting weapon properties.

does the feat Uncanny Concentration mean you dont need to make concentration checks while in combat,grappled, bad weather etc?

You're partially right. The description is quite specific, it only applies to "vigorous or violent motion or by violent weather", not grappling or injury, etc. For those checks you get an additional +2. Vigorous or violent motion would be like casting from a moving wagon, or a ship in high seas, etc. Combat and grappling and all that are different deals.

It's 75F here in Texas right now. Coldest it's gotten all winter is about 35F at night for a few days. It's been a really mild winter. Summer, on the other hand, is a non-stop furnace of 100-110F for the better part of four months, with 90-100F for two months on either end of that.


First time I was in Texas was the southern leg of a US tour in summer of '06. The bus started in Seattle and swung down the coast, then through Vegas and Denver, then Chicago, then down to TX. It was July and it was hot as f~@$. The venues in Dallas and Austin were air conditioned, but the venue in Houston only had AC in the backstage area, so we all sweat off a few pounds of water weight that night, for sure.

The following year we did a one-off in Austin in late October. It was 40-ish degrees and a freezing drizzle when we left O'Hare, and 80 degrees, dry, and gorgeous when we landed in TX. That was a much more pleasant trip, for sure. ;-)

I can't wait to see how badly the Starstone messes me up. >.<; Despite knowing how bad it was last time, I don't think Lin is strong enough to unleash her Breath Weapon more then once. =/ We will see how much carnage that does to the Ormirian ranks and hopefully Keythan can recover without incident...

LOL! Everyone does except GMs, right? Min did well to cast Grease, though. Grease + a couple lucky rolls = stymied construct.

So, let's see. Lin needs to go, then Karthan will return, then the round after that the rest will return, and Aylaeth is still up in the east ballroom, and I need to have the Alpha act in the SW stairwell. I don't think I'm missing anything...
