Hi there! So after looking through different recruitment threads, I noticed a trend of people being requested to post at least once a day, if not encouraging much more active posting. Well, what about our busy tabletop friends, where can they play?
I am one such busy person, and am already involved in numerous roleplays here myself, but I think it would be fun to run a dungeon crawl that doesn't encourage as-fast-as-you-are-able posting.
Can only once every couple of days? That's cool. I'm thinking a dungeon crawl campaign would be best, to really get into the meat of kill-or-be-killed situations. Some social interactions will of course be available, but the meat of this would be to get together and get into a fights and try your best to live.
I plan on DMing HARD. If you want to be in a campaign where you aren't faced with the possibility of your character's death, look elsewhere. I've got a homebrew dungeon crawl in mind, and It's going to be a tough one. Where one adventurer fails, another will pick up the quest. Get ready to re-roll, and be prepared to retreat.
This would be in D&D fifth edition, starting at level one. I have a system I'm designing where your progress in-game will affect the experience that your replacement characters will come in at, probably treasure based (you invest in the town you're working out of, and you'll be able to attract higher level adventurers to come by and see what's happening).
Requirements: Experience with 5e, and with access to the rules. I'll be able to address questions, but I don't want to have to teach a new player the ropes here. We'll be moving too slowly for that. Be able to post a couple of times a week. Any slower than that and I may bot you. Declare your actions in advance if you think you won't at a computer for the next round.
Be willing to play a character you want to fight with, AND roleplay. I love characters with personality, even in a crawl.

This sounds like a great campaign! I've got a warlock kind of written up waiting for a game to start.
I think 5e is a good game for a higher rate of PC death, due to the ease of character creation. As long as we don't have to build a detailed back story for each one! :)
Edit: warlock is human, pact of the tome, other Worldy patron. He's a little bit mad and has a bit of a stutter. Got the character built up except spells and equipment.
Which variant rules are we using? 5e is so customizable that I think it's important to lay them out ahead of time. Are we using encombrance or str x15? Feats? Human variant? Additional books beyond PHB available to players? Homebrewed backgrounds allowed (If so, I've written up a post on designing background features that you may want to read to help prevent them from being too strong or too weak)? Is this typical fantasy with the normal distribution of races? What are some of the most common languages and monsters that PCs would know about? Am I bugging you with so many questions? :) Thanks!

Into it. I'd play a cleric maybe? I'll look through what I haven't made yet. If we should roll stats, here's mine.
4d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 1, 3) = 12=11
4d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 5, 6) = 18=15
4d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 2, 5) = 14=13
4d6 ⇒ (2, 3, 6, 1) = 12=11
4d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 5, 2) = 13=11
Is SCAG, EE players guide, or UA allowed?
EDIT: Changeling or Half-elf bard, college of blades or valor, depending.

I guess if there is any system where a bunch of clerics would get along without stepping on each other's toes, it's 5e. A war cleric is very different from a life cleric, for example.
Just as a heads up, I limiting who plays what not-at-all. You can be 4 fighters if you want, but be prepared to face the consequences of not having a rogue or a wizard ;).
Let's see... I have access to the SCAG (sword Coast adventures guide), the Elemental Evil player's companion (I'll link to this in the campaign info), and the errata rules (also linked). The UA (unearthed arcana?) I don't currently have access to, so let's skip that one for now, until I manage to get my hands on it. If you use a spell/etc from something other than the player's guide, notate as much next to it in your character sheet.
Alright, you four.
Atlas2112, Belac93, Edward Sobel, bookrat... You're my first victims, welcome to play as long as you'd like, or until you go inactive for long enough to make me think you aren't coming back (A couple of weeks maybe).
Feel free to discuss what you wish to play.
Belac93 is right on the money with rolling stats, 4d6 (drop the lowest), six times. Start at max HP at level 1 (all other levels are ROLLED, no taking average), and get your build down. No incredible backstory is required, but at least get your personality traits, bonds, flaws, and ideals down. Make them things you would likely encounter in a dungeon crawl. Feel free to ask for advice if you're stumped.
I've got houserules in on the campaign info tab, and I'm starting to develop the first post. Here is what you guys need to know so far:
There is a small town called Wyatt peak up in a mountainous region, a bit separated from the rest of the world. There has been HELP requested from the town's local cleric, someone named Brayjio Springhand. You'll be going to a small, rural mountain town of some renown (A temple to Kelemvor, the god of death and Judge of the Damned, is build here, and many renowned followers of The Lord of the Dead have visited Wyatt's Peak over the years). You'll be investigating the local areas in your quest to help Brayjio, and might run into all manner of danger.
Keep on character building in the recruitment or in the discussion threas, and I'll get a gameplay post up hopefully soon.

The UA is here and here. My character is almost done as he is, I'll change a few things if I can use changeling.

Unearthed Arcana is free. It's essentially the upcoming playtest material released in small batches.
I'd like to still keep features, if that's ok. You never know when they'll be useful and they make an interesting aspect to backgrounds. They also help even the playing field when it comes to narrative influence.
Request: can we chose to do standard array instead of rolling?

GM Grey |

I don't really mind keeping the features, I just worry that many of them will be entirely unusable. If everyone is cool with potentially having a useless feature, I don't mind.
I'm really on the fence about rolling versus pointbuy/array. Pointbuy/array keeps everyone on the same level, which I prefer, but one thing I like about a good crawl are the details that shift from randomization like stat rolling. However, rolling for HP beyond level 1, and the potential to get killed off and coming in at a slightly lower level than your party mates might still have the affect I like...
So... Sure, let's say you get to choose. But you have to PM me if you are choosing an array, or risking it and going for the rolls BEFORE you make the post including your rolls/chosen array. That way I know you didn't just botch your rolls and chose to take standard.

Re Maps: I'll probably use some amount of maps, posted through imgur (its just an image hosting site), but their requirement would be arguable. NOT using maps would certainly be lazier for me as a GM, so maybe I'll skip them as much as possible.
Re character options: I've linked many source books (just not the SCAG as it is an actual, salable book) on the campaign info tab for use. No dragonmarks, no warforges.
Re other applicants: The Pale King has been paged to see if they would like to participate, failing them I'll go down the list to the next, Jiggy, then D-Kal, then Anders in that order of openings.

GM Grey |

D-Kal, I'm going to page you to make sure you saw this, but I'll give you until tomorrow after I get off of work to make your intention to play known (you can have additional time to square your character once I know if you're interested).
If I don't hear back from you by then, I'll give Anders the go ahead to square his character for a new campaign and begin character-sheet audits. But if you're interested in playing, don't feel like you need to stand-aside for Anders simply because he already has his character made. I'd like to be fair about this recruitment, and you did make your interest known first.
