The specter takes two strikes from the monk! Reeling from the onslaught, it tries to retaliate!

The specter misses its target. The party then quickly finishes the undead creature off! I'm calling it here, it has no chance.

The room you occupy currently seems to be some sort of visitors gallery and feast hall. Dark tapestries line the walls, and thick carpets cover the floors. A banquet table occupies the center of the room, and comfortable couches are arrayed along the walls. A fire pit before the doors burns with magical flame.
In the center of the ceiling is an opening 15 feet across, and dim light is visible from the floor above. The floor directly beneath the opening has tiles of a lighter shade of gray than the rest of the room.
Among all of the defeated enemies you find twelve gemstones, each worth 50 gold. Also found are two Potions of Healing, a Potion of Climbing and a scroll with the 2nd level cleric spell Hold Person the spells DC is 13 when you use the scroll.
Also found are two pairs of Goggles of Night that look to be well-worn, as if taken off of a past victim of the shader-kai. We can avoid any further lighting problems with these as well.
Lastly, the witch held a scroll with the wizard spell Blur written upon it. You can use the scroll or after the adventure use it to place within your spellbook.

I'm seeing lots of doors and rooms left behind. Do we clear the rooms floor by floor or do we float up to the second floor?

Fizz determines that the floor doesn't indicate one door being used more often than another, however none of the doors seem to be abandoned in any way.
Haldor seems to detect a faint odor coming from beyond the door next to him. The smell reminds him of either wet dog or something similar.

Fergus opens the door.
This pair of adjoining rooms appears to be well-appointed guest chambers. Unfortunately, the present occupants seem ill-suited to their comforts. Four gnolls are here, and a reek of dog fills the air and the blankets on the beds pulled off and piled in the corners. The closest two snarl as they lunge at you with spear and claw, and the others prepare their longbows as they take cover behind a couch!
