Valeria Skendar |
Peering down the well and seeing the sword, Valeria had an idea.
"Hold on Friday, I think I have an easier way to get it out," she said, gesturing towards the sword and trying to magically bring it up and out of the well.
Casting mage hand to get the sword out.

Valeria sends her mage hand down to fish the sword out, but as the hand closes around it, the sword feels too heavy to move.

Friday's effort with the bucket has more success, the rusted chain catching on the sword's scabbard and managing to be hauled up with some effort.
"AT LAST!" The sword bellows in joy. "My word, that was a REMARKABLY uncomfortable experience!"
"Though I suppose I shouldn't have worried--not when a scion of the Amatatsus is in reach!"
Friday Daud |
”Not within reach, but we are her guards, what is your relation to them?” Friday asks the sword as he frees it from the chain.

"If you've come this far, you should know of me by now!" The sword boasts. Had it a mouth, it would be fixed in a grin.
"The blade of the Amatatsu line, sworn to guard their descendants and those Marked by their Seal. I... am SUISHEN!"
"...the Fourth!"
Yes, I changed Suishen to the Pathfinder version of Yoshimitsu. I. REGRET. NOTHING.

The sword is speaking out loud.
"Mine is a blade sworn to slay those who bear the taint of oni--especially those who have driven my charges to the brink of extinction. Alas, time has not been kind to me."
"The weight of ages lies heavy on my blade. I am still as sharp as ever before, but were I to slay an oni, the greatest of my powers would surely return to me! And we may begin by butchering the foul Kimandatsu!"
"I will defend you and burn any who dare serve the Five Storms with the flames of purity! So long as you bear me, neither biting frost nor searing heat will impede thee. And look upon the prayer strips--the power to protect against ice, to walk upon air, to see the unseen, and to illuminate with the brilliance of the dawn! I would advise you to use them well, for they will only use their power three times in total before they must rest."
There are a series of Tian characters engraved along the length of the blade, and three prayer strips wrapped tightly around the hilt.
Suishen is a +2 defending flaming katana with a constant endure elements effect. Its wielder may cast air walk, daylight, resist energy (cold) and see invisibility 3 times total per day.

He blinked at the sword. The sword that was talking to them. He had heard of the like in stories.... but they were stories told to him as a child. He wasn't sure what he expected but he spent a moment to detect evil in the area.
Making the assumption the sword doesn't radiate bad Juju.
He frowned slightly at the others, Friday's use of the spear was unparalleled as far as he could tell, and he didnt think that Kasha or Valeria were the type to wield swords but still.
"In that we are on similar paths Suishen. Do you prefer to be bared by the heir? She is not here, we left here in a safe place with stalwart guards why we came to end the threat here."
He paused actually reaching up and running a hand through his hair for a moment trying to gather his thoughts, He never thought he would be speaking to a talking sword. How does one diplomasize with steel?
Anyone have +2 defending flaming katana proficiency?
GM_Jadecat |
If you wield a katana 2-handed, it's treated as a Martial weapon. Also, there aren't any evil auras in the immediate vicinity.
"Oh, I've no objection to being wielded by ANY scion of Amatatsu, so long as they are virtuous and courageous!"
"And it is good that you understand your duty. The bloodline must be protected!"
Friday Daud |
Friday has proficiency, but he’d wield it 2handed so it’s a moot point.
When the sword mentions being wielded by someone virtuous and courageous Friday turns to Kavell. ”He’s a Paladin.” he tells the sword.
Kasha Mvashti |
"Definitely not a weapon I'm familiar with." Kasha says, her experience with spirits making the talking sword a bit less of a shock for the shamaness.
Kavell Speranta |
"I follow The Eternal Rose"
He paused for a moment thinking. After a moment he smiled.
"I believe she is called The Lady of Chrysanthemums in your lands."
He offered the talking sword tentively reaching out for it. Only his devotion to his goddess kept him from embracing the wonderful looking weapon immediately.
"I may not be as quick to strike as some of the paladins of others faith's but I will not abide unrepentant evil to exist to harm innocents."
He also added, not that he needed the swords approval really.
Kavell Speranta |
"I dont suppose you have any inclination where this Kimandatsu and its ilk might be located?"
He asked with a slight frown trying to get a feel for the weight of the sword. He motioned torwards the path to the north or then the west with a slight frown. If the sword had no idea he nodded to the north.
"Lets head this way I suppose."
Kasha Mvashti |
"I think I can make this a bit easier." Kasha says, drawing a scroll from the case on her hip and unfurling it. The shamaness reads the mystical glyphs enscribed upon it in a flowing chant, laying her hand on each of her companions one after the other as the scroll crumbles to dust.

The room on the other side of the channel is oppressively hot compared to the rest of the cellars. A coal furnace roars in the far wall, giving the room a dull red glow. A heap of coal is stacked against the east wall. An iron door opens in the ceiling above the coal pile. Three crude beds made of poorly cured bearskins and wolf pelts have been thrown on the floor before the fire. A hogshead rests between them, next to the bloody bones of some unfortunate creature.
The owner of the pelts is readily visible: a tall creature with a rough, green hide. Its hands end in claws, and its bestial face has a hideous, tusked underbite. It pauses in its work and sniffs the air before turning to look at Friday.
It blinks in surprise. "Who you?"
Friday Daud |
”Thank you,” Friday tells the Troll alongside a bow before heading for the door.
Perception: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (17) + 14 = 31
Friday Daud |
"The door is locked, and I hear fighting. Or training." Friday tells the others, he then turns to the troll. "Do you have the key?"
Kasha Mvashti |
Kasha studies the troll as well, trying to determine the creature's nature.
Knowledge Nature: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (17) + 11 = 28
GM_Jadecat |
However, trolls are ravenous beasts. Their claws are capable of rending a man asunder. It's not wise to anger them.
"Key? No. No, when Harguk need talk to Boss, me just knock on door."
"Me don't fit anyway." The troll sounds oddly despondent.
Kavell Speranta |
It was a shame the creature was evil, something so... unintelligent had enough going against it in life.
"I dont suppose you would be so kind as to ask them to open the door would you? If it wouldnt interupt your work?
Valeria Skendar |
While the others spoke with the troll, Valeria mentally went over the combat-oriented spells she had prepared. She could remember that trolls had something to do with a resistance to damage or how you had to use one particular type against them, but for the life of her could not remember.
Remembering the whole troll regeneration thing would be a Know Local check, right? Because that's a knowledge skill Valeria doesn't have any ranks in.
GM_Jadecat |
Harguk leans over and raps his thick knuckles heavily on the door.
*KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK*
The sound of sparring beyond the door pauses, then there's a shuffling of feet.
*CLICK*
The door opens. An Ulfen man clad in dark blue robes and a mask is standing in the doorway, his eyes rapidly widening when he sees Friday and the others.

"Harguk though you radiate evil I have seen nothing that warrents your death. I would have words with you in a moment take care to not change my mind."
He said simply meeting the troll's gaze with a stern but thoughtful look. He then slid past Friday, and Valeria drawing out the talking blade as he did so.
" Suishen, there is evil to burn."
He said as he moved forward and struck.
