Imojin moves forward and sends another sling bullet into the pack of enemies, aiming at red.

But in the process of moving toward them, she stubs her toe and slings the bullet off into the distance as she stumbles.

"Now you and Whiskers can give them something to remember."

"At 1st level, you can touch a creature as a standard action, giving it a morale bonus on attack rolls, damage rolls, and Will saving throws equal to 1/2 your sorcerer level (minimum 1) for 1 round. You can use this ability a number of times per day equal to 3 + your Charisma modifier."
Greeda |
Greeda steps around the mast and blasts the nearer raiders with fire!
Burning hands. I think from here I should hit red and yellow and miss Emma. DC 15 Reflex

Imojin |
Imojin mutters something about the architecture of boats and her inability to charge... it isn't complimentary to the shipwright. She leaps on Whiskers' back and charges down the stairs, running up to the closest enemy and attacking him. that 'charges down the stairs' is not a charge, just flavor text

emma buries her scythe right into Khoqarit's side, getting it through most of the bulk of his muscles, right to his spine, snapping it, then as she pulls back, his upper half just collapses to the deck as his legs stay standing, spewing blood up almost like a fountain.
upon seeing this, the remaining raiders look at eachother and all do a complete withdraw
~End of Combat~
however the boat itself is still stuck, and still need a Str check to get it loose
Imojin |
Imojin will try to assist getting the boat free and moving....
str check to assist, dc 10: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11
GM Sapphire Fox |
Zajarthauk showing his Orcish side, musters up the STR to just manhandle the rudder, and just shoves it in one heave ho, and off he goes. Imojin seeing this starts to go in to help, but takes a couple steps back, and waited for comedy mishap, that Zajarthauk has been known for, to happen though a bit disappointed that it didn't happen.
it's about a half-days travel down the river to the camp.
Several horses and goats contentedly graze about the wide
grassy plain on either side of the river, but the fields look as
though they have been recently flooded. A half-dozen yurts,
drenched from a recent storm, dot the northern shoreline,
smoke curling from their rounded roofs. Two small shrines
sits a few yards east of the camp, surrounded by wildflowers.
Imojin |
Imojin applauds Zaj's feat of strength. "Oh, well done! You're indeed as strong as you look!"
Approaching the small community, Imojin remarks, "Well except for the wetness, that all looks, what's the word? Oh, yes... Idyllic... I suspect looks can be deceiving."

as you approach, Ogokai, the Jhemulit Shaman does spot your ship around the bend and you can see him waving your ship ashore, as you disembark the ship, he leads you to the small shrine a short distance away. he also offers that you stay for the night in their hospitality, with plenty of food and drink
yes Ogokai is the one you are too meet to acquire the incense
Kalman Dorn |
"Something to eat and drink sounds fantastic."
Kalman begins to look around out of curiosity.
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
"Guess I should brew some more mutagen for later. That sounds fantastic too."
Kalman pulls out his alchemist kit and begins work on a mutagen.

Imojin |
Imojin and Whiskers are both happy to be off the boat, and look around at the shrine... "This is a nice spot... to who or what cause is this place dedicated?"
When the food and drink are offered, as well as a place to sleep that doesn't rock, she nods and smiles. "Thank you! A rest on solid ground would be most welcome after a hearty meal!"
GM Sapphire Fox |
the area of the shrine itself, is very simplistic to similar to how a druid might use one, there are 2 stone sections that are naturally formed, flowers around it, some missing, its a bit of a dirt path that leads to and from it, with it being a rough circular shape around shrine area as well.
mostly through the meal Ogokai speaks "you are after the incense, but I am afraid we cannot give it to you. As soon as we placed the herbs in the crates, the Gokan woman left, a terrible storm fell upon us. many of our horses and goats were scared away by the thunder, and one man was struck by lightning. It is clear - the Sky Spirits are displeased we would give the sacred gifts of the land to outsiders. You may take back the hides the Gokan woman traded us, but you may not take the incense"
Emma Reaper |
"is there anything that we could do to not be outsiders or any chance that we could get someone from here to escort them so as not to affend the sky spirits?"

Greeda |
"We have no desire to offend the Sky Spirits and will be happy to do whatever is required to appease them. But we simply must have the incense. Surely there must something we can do!"

"Perhaps there is something we can trade or a service we can provide for you."
Kalman tries to be diplomatic.
All I want to do is burn things. I have no use for this diplomatic stuff.
Kalman looks down at his garments and begins mumbling.
"Justeen, stop it. Your time to burn things will come. You must have patience."
Kalman looks up as if everybody could hear the conversation, but does not seem to care.
"Sorry. Justeen is a little impatient today."
GM Sapphire Fox |
hearing you speak, and eat and listening to everyone, Ogokai looks over to Greeda speaking in a slightly hushed tone
"Stay the night, enjoy the hospitality, and I will talk with the others and give you my answer in the morning"
staying the night at the camp you are given a comfortable place to sleep in a yurt of their own, as well as all the food and drink they wish.
in the morning Greeda you find outside your yurt hanging is a bag of the incense, taking it you and the group say your thanks and farewell and head back to the laughing crow, and set sail again down the river.
several days pass though mostly smooth sailing, some rough patches but nothing too bad that you can't handle. though as you approach the border of Kaoling
Clumps of green lichen cling to the links of an iron chain
that spans the river a few inches above the water, the chain
holding several vertical, bobbing logs in place. On the north
shore, the chain is bolted to a squat stone block half-buried in
the ground. To the south, the chain attaches to a large metal
crank handle mounted to a ruined stone wall. A short wooden
dock stretches from the front of the stone wall out to the
middle of the slow-flowing river.
upon noticing this you hear a gentleman calling out and motioning for you to stop and dock the ship. Sun Cheyeng and three guards wait for the ship to eventually stop. Sun Cheyeng demands access to the boat on the grounds that your cargo is subject to Lingshen's tariffs, stating that he must assess the value of your goods in order to properly tax you
Greeda |
Greeda is surprised by Ogokai's generosity. "Thank you for your trust. We will not dishonor the Sky Spirits in our quest."
When the boarding party approaches, she says, "We have nothing of value , I'm afraid."
Unless there's something I forgot about?
Kalman Dorn |
"If you are looking for anything valuable you are wasting your time."
Kalman looks around at the boarding party , as if judging then all in case things get worse.
GM Sapphire Fox |
so Zajarthauk thinking something seems fishy tries to discern if something is amiss, and you get the sense that its not really the whole truth, but not an outright falsehood
on your ship is the braid of a hundred masters that you took with you
you can allow him to search, and attempt sleight of hand checks, with others able to aid, or you can refuse out right, you can not move the ship forward past the chain without severe damage to the hull
Emma Reaper |
Emma comes up holding onto her stick.
"You will need a good reason to search this ship. We are mear travlers just passing through. Unless there is a greater purpose for your search. Are you looking for bandits or thevies? Or are you just looking to pick on innocent travlers that just pass through?"

"Whiskers" |
Imojin grumbles under her breath, just loud enough for her friends to overhear, "Perhaps they are just looking for a payment to let us pass?"
Greeda |
Greeda decides to take a chance. She mumbles and gestures at the leader and says melodically, "Are you sure you need to take the time to search our boat? We are in a real hurry."
Casting hypnotism. DC 15 Will save with -2 penalty since he's the only target.
GM Sapphire Fox |
will: 1d20 + 5 - 2 ⇒ (20) + 5 - 2 = 23
Sun Cheyeng looks at Greeda and Grins widely "Miss, all who pass must pay a tax based on the cargo, no exceptions may be made, now stand aside and let us assess the cargo and its value so we can make this quick and painless as possible for everyone"
Zájarthauk |
Zájarthauk loses patience with Sun Cheyeng's annoying swagger:
"How do we know you won't take whatever you damn well please as a 'tax'?"
"I myself am from Belkzen and don't care for this smarmy rubbish."
"Tell us what you really want and be done with it."
intimidate: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24 . . trying to brow-beat some truth out of Sun Cheyeng
Apologies in advance, guys!
Zájarthauk really is from Belkzen.
Where sweet talking isn't on.
GM Sapphire Fox |
Sun becomes a bit startled, though the guards with him move in closer and bolster him
Sun speaks again and hands you the ledger of the week showing the "taxes" and copies of the manifests Profession Librarian, InnKeeper, or Int check
GM Sapphire Fox |
you see a few itemized reports, most from what you can gather seems reasonable taxing, maybe some a bit higher with a couple side notes made, nothing higher then 1000 gold has been logged, and there is a range from 1 SP to 1000 GP
Zájarthauk |
Zájarthauk will look through the ledger to see if any goods were taken as taxes.
INT check: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9 . . nope
perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14 . . meh
Although a bit dim with paperwork,Zájarthauk will act as if he fully understands it:

"These taxes; they are sent back to your boss with all speed, yes?"
diplomacy: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13

And, if needed, depending on Sun's response
sense motive: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
