I don't have the Strange, but I have the core book for Numenera and would be interested in hearing more. More about the setting and situation (where are we starting, what sort of reality), plus PbP logistics (how often are you expecting people to post, how familiar you are with PbP in general, are we going to use maps).
I think keeping things strictly in the idea of the players always roll will slow things down in a PbP game, but not necessarily to the point of unplayability.
That said, I think we would be better off if the GM made certain tests for the players. In a PF PbP game the GM typically rolls things like Initiative and Perception and Saves, as the difference between him/her doing so, and waiting for every single person to get to it can potentially be days. I'm a little shaky on mechanics (in theory Numenera uses the same system, but being that I haven't actually looked into the Strange I don't know how strong of a theory that is) so can't give any examples of stuff right off hand that I think the GM should roll...just that I think we would be better off going with the understanding that sometimes the GM will roll checks for the players.
Maybe defensive rolls...now that I think about it. In Numenera when you're attacked you make some type of defensive roll (can't recall the exact wording)...
For example instead of the GM saying "Alright Bob, the giant clthulhuesque spider monster tries to impale you with one of it's razor sharp legs...roll BLAH BLAH." It would be "ALright Bob, the giant cthulhuesque spider monster tries to impale you with one of it's razor sharp legs (followed by the die roll). Looks like you failed! Take X damage."

Alright, I want to start by apologizing by how stark my first post was. Now then. The Prison is a massive machine. The kind with gears, pistons, piping, and wiring. At the heart of it, The Prison is a dungeon crawl. There will be more emphasis on skill challenges than combat. I will be trying to keep resources on a tight leash. There will be safe zones that allow down time.
Make a character like normal from his home world. Nothing will change from the start, but stuff will come from all sorts of worlds. Since you do not know how you got here, I am more interested in your personality and what you can do. I expect you to post at least once a day Mon-Sat. Sun and Mon are my weekend effectively. If you do not post after 24 hours I will bot you if necessary. I do not like maps. Besides, The Prison is in constant movement. I have not been part of the pbp world long, but I am in several games. I hope this answers all of the basic questions.

So character gen from "The Strange" book?
That is correct.
For those who are interested, but only have Numenera, This situation is workable. The Nouns are similar but different. The biggest difference is the your focus is actually what determines your starting gear. I highly recommend that you pick up the free conversion guide.

BTW, I talked to a friend at work. He and two of his friends will hopefully be joining us. The bad news is that means that after them and Frogfoot, there would only be room for two more. Although, that does not seem to be a problem right now. Oh, and Seth86 I see no problem with your ideas so far, I just have not seen enough worth responding to yet.

I understand. Im still reading the rule book. I decided to buy it. So still trying to get a feel for it.
Next part of character i need to read more about how it would fit into the game u will host.
Im thinking of making my character one of those survival junkies. Go to different places and make documentaries about it.

Crunch looks good. Just a reminder, with fluff I am more interested in your personality then history. Ideally there should be some potential for conflict, but not to the point that he can not get along with the others. Although, given the open nature of things that may have to be developed after final selection.

I would be interested in the game. I have played both Numenera and the Strange before, and am now running a face-to-face Strange campaign.
Rex, a sharp eyed Paradox who Conducts Weird Science.
speed=10
intellect=12
effort=1
intellect edge=1
trained in initiative, perception, light weapons, the Strange, mechanical repair, biology.
Find the Flaw.
Lab analysis (3 intellect)
2 revisions: levitate (2 intellect points) and exception (1 intellect point).
Rex is one who knows that the world consists of other dimensions. He is driven to understand these things for no reason beyond his insatiable curiosity. He is poor at human - human relationships, as they are less predictable than machines or science.
Let me know if I am in.
I will need to create a new avatar if I am.

Connection (with who is TBD)

Equipment
Street clothes, weapon of your choice (medium handgun), laptop computer, smartphone, British passport, $500
Hack the Impossible (3 Intellect Points)
You can persuade automatons, machines, and computers to do your bidding. You can discover an encrypted password, break through security on a website, briefly turn off a machine such as a surveillance camera, or disable an automaton with just a moment’s worth of fiddling. Action.
Computer Programming
You are trained in using (and exploiting) computer software, you know one or more computer languages well enough to write basic programs, and you are fluent with Internet protocol. Enabler.

This is Keith S. posting with a new avatar.
Let me know if this will work for your game.

A friend from work is hopefully bringing two of his companions. Where they will be introduced to PbP and Roleplaying Games in general.
EDIT: What I MAY do is start a new campaign just for them, we will see. Right now, I have six people who have shown interest. Four of them have made a proper entry. Correct me if I am wrong.
