Sorry guys, didn't notice Reyo had posted and been "sleeping" in one bed with the baby for the last three days...
Your attempts at stabbing a bunch of fairy lights dancing in the air bring you nothing. The portal does not react or change in any visible way. However, there is a burst of white light from the camp. You turn to see the sword in the tree burning with an ethereal flame! Meanwhile the trees' chorus reaches a crescendo and threatens to make your ears bleed!

Pointing to the sword, Shirak cries out "Perhaps it has something to do with that?!"
Cautiously moving towards the weapon, he tries to strike it with his blade.

Is this game dead guys? Please let me know so I can direct my thoughts towards other things if this is the case. I've been away for the last week and I expected to find a lot of replies here, but it seems that only Shirak is still active.
Shirak's dagger passes through the glowing sword without the slightest pause, but the flames jump onto the druids arm and he convulses in a sudden spasm!

Was trying to wait on the others to post...sadly I think this may be dead. :-(
"AAAEEEIII" shrieks Shirak. Unsure if it's the heat...cold?..."That doesn't feel right!" Stepping back, he looks around, desperate for any sign that he's working the right direction on this problem.
Raising his arm up as the realization sinks in, 'What the...where's my dagger...'. Perplexed at this change of events, he tries to swing the blade harmlessly in the air.

Sorry all, I'd been waiting to see the result of Shirak's attack. I'm still lost as to where we should be going and what we should be doing with this glowing light/sword/evil tree ring situation. I don't want it to be dead, I did/do like the cast of characters! Sorry for my non-contribution of late. :(
Reyo looks to Shirak as the druid shrieks.
What is it Shirak? What's wrong with it? Reyo says, as she presses her hands to her temples, the crescendo of tree-song threatening a headache like no night of heavy drinking could hope to match.

Your eyes flicker to the dancing light of the portal...
"It's no use!" Shouts Torcet, his sword flailing madly at the lights. "This is not a physical thing to attack! We must leave, they are coming!" His eyes roll around, the previous madness slowly taking hold of him again.
