Kayosin |
The dark-cowled man dives into a flanking position with the big cat, slashing out with his arcane-empowered wakizashi at the goblin caught between them.

Well, that was easy.
Quick note: all the goblins, except for the Chief, are identical.
Kayosin |
Kayosin quickly and quietly jams his blade into his downed opponents body to finish it off. Then he pulls its ear tight and slices it clean off. He looks at the group and shrugs before he continues towards the throne room.
Ah... ok. I used the my last point form the arcane point cause I thought the chief was present (for some reason). No biggie.
I'm assuming people are collecting ears? And do we know where the throne room is?
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Stealth: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (5) + 11 = 16
Kayosin |
Kayosin pauses and whispers to the group, "Stay back. I'll scout ahead. If the chief is waiting in ambush, I'd rather we not all walk into it."
He then stalks forward, checking for dangers and traps as he makes his way toward what he hopes is the chief's throneroom. Those previous rolls (while crappy) haven't been used, so we'll stick with those: Perception 12 (13 vs. traps) and Stealth 16.
Sumisu Fulanke |
The small figure follows along as well, but keeps well back as to not spoil the silent figure's chance for surprise. It would be good to be rid of this chief, as they wouldn't have much trouble with the tribe after he was dead.
Tanooki, being outside, flitted about nervously, wondering if he should come in or not. He had no indication from his master, so he should probably wait. So that's what he did. And, while he was waiting, preening seemed like a good idea.
Kayosin |
Kayosin motions for them to wait while he quietly ascends the back stairs, careful as always for ambushes or traps. If none are found, he checks the door itself before pressing his ear up against it... hoping to get any clues to what's to be expected inside.
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25 (+1 vs. traps)
Stealth: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (15) + 11 = 26
Basically, I'm trying to get us up to the door (and get any info we can) without walking into a trap. and if I can get the group there without the gobbos knowing we're there, all the better. I just also don't want to eat up a bunch of posts doing useless recon (and hogging the spotlight).
.
So let us know what we run across, and if there's more or less a clear approach to their back door, I guess assume the group can (as quietly as possible) assemble there. Once we have whatever info Kayosin's Perception check gives us, we'll figure out how to proceed.
Kayosin |
Kayosin steps away from the door to gather the group in a huddle, whispering as quietly as he can. "I'd love to get some information out of this little dude, but – being the chief – he might actually be dangerous. Don't underestimate him. So we go in hard and fast. I'd rather risk losing out on some information than losing one of us."
He pauses to look at everyone, making sure there are no additions or objections to the plan. If none are coming, he gives one final instruction, "I'll open the door and look, if we're clear, we'll go in together."
He once again readies his wakizashi before trying to quietly open the door. If nothing is immediately obvious, he'll quietly cast Detect Magic and take a few quiet steps in to make sure all is clear before motioning the group to follow him inside.
Stealth (to open the door quietly) 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (19) + 11 = 30
Perception 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25 (+1 vs. traps)
Kayosin |
Kayosin pauses to try to discern the type of magic.
Spellcraft (or Knowledge Arcane - same modifier) 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9
[ooc]I'll assume that fails. :(
Kayosin quietly tries to crack the door to see what's through the door directly in front of himself.
Perception 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26 (+1 vs. traps)
Stealth 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (3) + 11 = 14
Dang this place has a lot of doors...
The_Ninja_DM |
You are looking into a large room (H9. You can see that the double doors are barred on the inner side side and that there is a group of three goblins standing nervously guarding those doors as sounds of panicked goblins begging to be allowed in echo from the other side.
The walls of this room are lined with poorly preserved heads of dogs, horses and other brutally slaughtered furry animals, along with other trophies such as broken weapons and other bits of grizzly ephemera.
To your right, against the back wall, sits a rickety 5' tall chair with a ladder leading up to the seat. Upon it sits what must be Chief Gutwad, armed with a spear, a bow, and more fireworks.
The_Ninja_DM |
The guard goblins are armed much like those you've already seen. All three have dogslicers (currently sheathed), 2 have shortbows at the ready and the third (the one in the center) is holding a firework and a tindertwig.
The chief is sitting about 5' up and 5' over; his throne is centered on the back wall. You can also see a door on the wall to the right.
Fibek Entine |
Fibek waits until Vak is noticed. He is ready to quickly fire two arrows starting with the goblin with the fireworks and moving to the right one with the shortbow.

Upset at the abysmal markmanship of the elf, the cat charges the goblins quickly going after one and ready to bite if any of the ones with bows try to fire. She manages to bite the goblin with the firework and tindertwig.
Goldilocks attack/damage/trip?: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 211d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 71d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Kayosin |
Kayosin nods in response to Vak, then rushes in toward the chief. At the last second, he shifts. Instead of delivering an attack on the goblin ruler, Kayosin finishes his charge with a Sparta-kick to one of the frailer joints of the rickety-looking chair... hoping to spill the goblin to the floor as he barks out two goblin words.
Surprise (?) round
Charge the chief's chair, ending with a strength check to shatter or knock it over (hoping to put the chief prone on the ground)
