A-won't you take me to.... GOBLIN-TOWN!

HP:146 | AC:32 ; T:27 ; FF:26 (Mage Armor) ; CMD:33/27 | Fort:+7 ; Ref:+13 ; Will:+9 | Init:+9 ; PER:+14 (Low Light)

Uh oh... This must be a truly evil set of Goblins if they listen to... DISCO. Sounds like we need to collect a few ears!

... they're clearly not putting them to good use. :D

DM Ninja/infinite

After a further, but uneventful, trek through the swamp, you locate the goblin village.

You find a filthy village-fort surrounded by a crude wooden palisade sitting atop a low hummock of solid ground. There is, or rather, was a wooden gate in the north wall of the palisade. it now lies in shambles on the ground. Nearby, a large, algae-filled pool breaks the palisade on the northeastern side, allowing a clearer view into the village's interior, consisting of a collection of ramshackle huts connected by wooden walkways, all build on thick wooden stilts. One hut is clearly destroyed, lying in ruins at the eastern edge of the pond.

Elf Arcanist (Occultist) 1 | AC: 12 (t 12, ff 10) | HP: 7/7 | Fort +0, Ref +2, Will +4 | CMB -1, CMD 11 | Init +6 | Perc +9

Fibek speaks to Kayosin. "I think a recon of the surrounding area is in order before entering. Do you want the company of an elf or cat?"

The cat looks at you with eyes that say 'Better pick me.'

Male Vudrani Human Cleric (cloistered) 3 AC17; Init/Perc: +9T; HP 27/27, F: +8E/R: +6T/W: +11E

Ikshvaku listens carefully for anything other than natural sounds.

Perception check: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24

DM Ninja/infinite

The area is -suspiciously- quiet.

Which way is Goldilocks going in? The wrecked gate or the pond?

Goldilocks is backing up Kayosin, the primary scout. If Kayosin has no preference, they do a circuit around the perimeter without going in to scout the place out first.

Is there a map for this scouting trip? Generally, I think a quiet circuit by the scouting party is smart, but only after we put Message on a few folk so we can stay in contact..
.
... which of course Kayosin doesn't have. I'd like to take Straehan in the scouting party if he's available. Does he have Message?

Also, do you want new stealth/perception checks from teh scouting party?

DM Ninja/infinite

@Kayosin: Yes, Stealth & Perception, please.

Goblin village map up.

A few more questions. Does this village look like it was created (and once lived in) by something other than gobbos? Or does it look like gobbo-work? Secondly, where are we on the map?

In order of request....
Stealth 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (19) + 11 = 30
Perception 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7

DM Ninja/infinite

You're about 10 yards away, midway between H1 and H2. The village does look like goblin-make. The palisade is about 10' high.

Kayosin is the sneakiest, even with that blindfold on...

Okay, anyone coming with Kayosin, toss out Stealth/Perception rolls and let's get this thing moving.

Kayosin – along with the other scouts and after getting someone to cast Message on him – begins circling the village (in a clock-wise fashion), always staying far enough back as to retain some cover.

Elf Arcanist (Occultist) 1 | AC: 12 (t 12, ff 10) | HP: 7/7 | Fort +0, Ref +2, Will +4 | CMB -1, CMD 11 | Init +6 | Perc +9

The elf waves his cat back as he reminds the creature their bond does not encourage long distances between them. The cat looks disappointed, but nods approvingly as the rogue moves out quite skillfully.

M

The small figure thinks about it for a minute and decides to come with. He gestures to Tanooki, who flies up into the trees and follows Kayosin into the circling pattern of the village, staying back from him about 10 feet.

Stealth: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23

Male Human (augmented) Gestalt Soulknife / Inquisitor 2; AC(armored) AC19/t11/ff18; Init+5* Perc+9; F+3+/R+4/W+7

Braydon's best attempt at infiltration involves him turning into a giant rat and simply walking into the camp. There's probably a lot of them in there. But the goblins might also attempt to catch and eat him.

Overall, he'll be staying back until signaled

DM Ninja/infinite

A quick circuit of the palisades show no further entrances or other real openings, though a few spots along the wall are scorched, as if by fire - or fireworks? There are no sounds of movement, no smoke or cooking smells.

Male Vudrani Human Cleric (cloistered) 3 AC17; Init/Perc: +9T; HP 27/27, F: +8E/R: +6T/W: +11E

"It would seem that there is no other choice, yes? We must enter. At least it appears we are not to be disturbed by goblins!"

Ikshvaku calls up his mind blade before warily advancing to the broken gate.

Kayosin nods, "It is surprisingly quiet."

He moves forward with the tall Vudrani, skulking from cover to cover as they approach the gate. Once again, he begins checking for any nasty surprises that may be awaiting as he scouts the way.

Perception 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17; (+1 for traps)
Stealth 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (15) + 11 = 26

Elf Arcanist (Occultist) 1 | AC: 12 (t 12, ff 10) | HP: 7/7 | Fort +0, Ref +2, Will +4 | CMB -1, CMD 11 | Init +6 | Perc +9

The elf follows, longbow ready and cat at his side.

DM Ninja/infinite

As you enter the village you see a large, muddy pit containing the remains of some burnt goblins. It looks like a crude attempt at cremation.

There are rickety ladders leading up to the crosswalks between the huts. Looking around you see that the most elaborate hut is in the rear, and seems unreachable without using the crosswalks.

Male Vudrani Human Cleric (cloistered) 3 AC17; Init/Perc: +9T; HP 27/27, F: +8E/R: +6T/W: +11E

"It would seem our choice is clear, yes?" Ikshvaku dispels his mind blade and climbs one of the rickety ladders, alert for anything threatening.

Climb check, if necessary: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
Acrobatics check, if necessary: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23
Perception check, if necessary: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18

Kayosin nods, "Someone check the ground for traps. It'd be good to know who or what did this if possible."

He heads up the ladder quietly, eyes and ears straining.

Climb (taking 10) for 12.
Perception 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17 (+1 vs. Traps)
Stealth 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (18) + 11 = 29

The above line from Kayosin should have been "Someone check the ground for tracks"... not traps. Kayosin's looking for traps.

DM Ninja/infinite

DC20 Per or Survival:
While most of the tracks are goblin tracks, there are a few odd, booted, human-sized tracks mixed in

Kayosin has no trouble climbing the stairs and can find no traps. He can also hear a muffled conversation, in goblin, coming from the hut in front of him.

Goblin:

"Bones back?"
"You check!"
"No, you check!"
The conversation then degenerates into sounds of a struggle.

Male Vudrani Human Cleric (cloistered) 3 AC17; Init/Perc: +9T; HP 27/27, F: +8E/R: +6T/W: +11E

Is Ikshvaku also able to make it up the stairs?

DM Ninja/infinite

@Vak: yes. No problem.

Elf Arcanist (Occultist) 1 | AC: 12 (t 12, ff 10) | HP: 7/7 | Fort +0, Ref +2, Will +4 | CMB -1, CMD 11 | Init +6 | Perc +9

survival track/percep: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 181d20 + 12 ⇒ (5) + 12 = 17

The elf follows with bow drawn oblivious to his surroundings. He rushes to back up Vak.

Perception DC20 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14

Sumisu, you close enough to respond to the Gobbos?

Using the scuffle as a distraction, Kayosin peeks into the hut to see what they're dealing with.

Perception 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
Stealth 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (13) + 11 = 24
.
How many goblins? Armed? Adult?

DM Ninja/infinite

Kayosin: there are three adult goblins in this hut. Two of them have dropped their weapons and are fighting each other. The third is hissing at them to "Be quiet! The bones will hear!". That one is holding an odd tube of some kind.

Okay, so before I make any decision here... who all is with us? Kayosin, Vak, Fibek and Braydon? Did everyone else come? Did they stay back? Are their players still in the game? (I'm assuiming Straehan is still here (his player, storm raven, is in the middle of a coast-to-coast move, so his access has been crap lately.)

Male Vudrani Human Cleric (cloistered) 3 AC17; Init/Perc: +9T; HP 27/27, F: +8E/R: +6T/W: +11E

Still here.

DM Ninja/infinite

Let me know when everyone's ready. Kayosin, should I bot Straehan or would you prefer to do it?

Elf Arcanist (Occultist) 1 | AC: 12 (t 12, ff 10) | HP: 7/7 | Fort +0, Ref +2, Will +4 | CMB -1, CMD 11 | Init +6 | Perc +9

Here and backing up Val. I have a bow and think he will keep things from getting too close.

M

Hey, sorry for the delay, my browser had quit registering new posts on a couple threads I was following. Sumisu would have tried to listen in on the goblins, as he knows their language. Also, he is ready to back up the group with some magics.

HP:146 | AC:32 ; T:27 ; FF:26 (Mage Armor) ; CMD:33/27 | Fort:+7 ; Ref:+13 ; Will:+9 | Init:+9 ; PER:+14 (Low Light)

Hi ho, I'm here. I'll be online today a bit and then (assuming Time Warner aren't the flakes they are proving to be) I should have my home network up and running by Sunday in our new digs.

Straehan creeps up like a ninja alongside the scouts.

Perception 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27
Stealth 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (19) + 12 = 31

DM Ninja/infinite

OK, combat!

Braydon: initiative: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
Fibek: initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Goldilocks: initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
Ikshvaku: initiative: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
Kayosin: initiative: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
Straehan: initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
Sumisu: initiative: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24
monsterx3: initiative: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24

The goblin with the tube-thing looks up as you burst in and yells "Not bones! Longshanks! Kill!"

He points the thing in his hands at Kayosin and lights it! It launches a brilliant pyrotechnic candle toward him.

ranged_touch_attack: 1d20 ⇒ 1

If one of these hits, take 1 point non-lethal damage and 1 point fie damage. If a crit, blind for 1 round

The other two stop their fight and scramble to pick up their dogslicers.

Round 1:
goblins
Sumisu
Braydon
Kayosin
Vak
Straehan
Goldilocks
Fibek

Male Vudrani Human Cleric (cloistered) 3 AC17; Init/Perc: +9T; HP 27/27, F: +8E/R: +6T/W: +11E

"Strike to subdue! We need captives to question!"

Well, I was writing up a post so we could get a surprise round on them, but this works, too.

As Kayosin opens the hut's door, he's surprised as the firework flies recklessly past his head. He scowls as he rushes the goblin who fired it, growling out what sounds like a series of curses in the goblin's own language.

Goblin:
"Sh!t-brained goblin! Drop your weapons!"

He steps up to the goblin still holding the smoking firework tube and reaches out to subdue it.

Free: switch to holdign wakizashi w/ tail
Move: Step up to the fire-work-shooting goblin
Standard: grapple.
.
Grapple 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
.
This goblin gets an AoO on Kayosin.

M

Sumisu casts a quick spell hoping to take them off guard. Tanooki stares wide eyed at the proceedings, to stunned to really react as of yet.

Color spray, trying to get two of them if I can. DC 15 Will

DM Ninja/infinite

will_sword_goblin_1: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (16) - 1 = 15
will_sword_goblin_1: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (19) - 1 = 18

Neither goblin is affected, though #1 does a few quick dance moves while singing something instead of picking up his weapon. It sounds like

goblin:
"It's my birthday, it's my birthday...time to kill longshanks!"

Male Vudrani Human Cleric (cloistered) 3 AC17; Init/Perc: +9T; HP 27/27, F: +8E/R: +6T/W: +11E

Round 1:

Ikshvaku resummons his mind blade and takes a short step towards the action.

Male Human (augmented) Gestalt Soulknife / Inquisitor 2; AC(armored) AC19/t11/ff18; Init+5* Perc+9; F+3+/R+4/W+7

Braydon, who was waiting behind for signal, takes the sound of battle as a rather clear signal, and starts in at a run [most likely arriving to fight next round].

Was Kayosin's grapple attempt successful?

DM Ninja/infinite

@Kayosin: Yes.

Round 1:
goblins
Sumisu: casts
Braydon: moves
Kayosin: grapples firework goblin
Vak: move & summon blade
Straehan: ?
Goldilocks: ?
Fibek: ?

Elf Arcanist (Occultist) 1 | AC: 12 (t 12, ff 10) | HP: 7/7 | Fort +0, Ref +2, Will +4 | CMB -1, CMD 11 | Init +6 | Perc +9

The elf fires a single arrow at an unobstructed goblin

1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 81d8 ⇒ 8

The cat chases and tries to hit a goblin from reach.
PA/damage: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 181d8 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8

The result is not pretty.

HP:146 | AC:32 ; T:27 ; FF:26 (Mage Armor) ; CMD:33/27 | Fort:+7 ; Ref:+13 ; Will:+9 | Init:+9 ; PER:+14 (Low Light)

The small sorcerer steps in towards his racial enemy - without feeling a frisson of hate - and smacks the gobbo (gently) upside the head.
