Is that the long-hair berk's name? Used it he did. Let me out you will? Pleases? the party's thoughts hear in reply.
Taking some time to review the journal, it is discovered that there is a bounty of information in such a thin book.
The journal contains extensive notes on the appearances and behavior of the outsiders Hunclay conjured in this room and the services he secured from them. Most recently, the journal mentions a "kuhthep-all-tan-GOOL-ghee" that Hunclay thought would be a good bodyguard on a vist to meet someone named Barlau. The other most resent entry is listed as "Maffei". Hunclay believes "Maffei" knows more about the Dark Tapestry then she lets on and plans on keeping her until she tell the wizard what she knows.
The other creatures summoned run the gamut from devil to demon, azata to archon. The topics of Hunclay's research varied from the creation of constructs and homunculi, investigations into Belhaim's history, and discussions of various magical items and spells, but far and away the most common topic was the Dark Tapestry. Time and time again, the notes mention a failed conjuration of a "representative of the Dominion of the Black." Hunclay conjured it only to have to kill it when it attacked him. The notes show that this took place in "my safe cave."
Summoning Journal Lot. The journal is worth 6,ooo gp to anyone interested in conjuring outsiders, because the names and offering preferences of a good three dozen such creatures are recorded within.
Haruf "Eight-arms" Sefka |
Appraise: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
Does this mean Hunclay worked with demons?, Haruf wonders naively. He addresses the mentions on the Dark Tapestry.
What is this Tapestry? Is it the one in his study upstairs?
He wonders if there's any way his friends could find magic in the room, so that he can stay away from it.
Alex Anders |
alex looked at the creature begging for release with a look of puzzlement and questioning, more curious about why the creature is here than anything else. "if you wished to be released, I have a few questions first since I at least do not know the person that summoned you." he then walked over to the book and looked over it as kale turned the pages. "What were you summoned for and where were you from to start if you'd be so kind?" spotting things about the Dark Tapestry, he tried to check his memory for any knowledge about the religion side of the Dark Tapestry.

The long-haired berk, called me for spells. Spells to disguise a book to not look like a book. A disguise that never ends. I know not such things. So he leaves me. Leaves me to punish. I wish only to return. Return to the Pit. Please. Questions answered, release me!
Alex does not recall anything about the Dark Tapestry.
Calli McDaniel |
"Ah'm not so sure 'bout lettin' this one out - not after what happened with tha' damned telescope-thing," Calli responds dubiously. She studies the thing's gestures, trying to glean whether freeing it would allow it to return home...or just give it freedom to attack.
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27
Alex Anders |
Alex remained cautious as he neared the barrier. he picked up an ink quill from the desk and held it out in from of him for the creature to see. "We will let you go home, but if you attack us, we will send you back in another manner." he then gave a look as if to ready everyone for a fight.
alex will break the circle, but wait for everyone to ready an action in case it attacks
Haruf "Eight-arms" Sefka |
Haruf sees the little devil disappear and lowers his guard.
Are we gonna regret this?, he asks looking around.
After a while, he turns his attention back to the Tapestry. I think we should find this. Also, this book he was trying to hide.
Alex Anders |
Alex's eyes go wide upon seeing the creature disappear in such a fashion and kept his bow at the ready. "If he did want to go home, he chose a round about way to do it. he's now invisible." his next words were focused on the creature as if expecting to be heard. "hells, if you were going to fight instead of head home immediately, you shouldn't act so cowardly."
Calli McDaniel |
Calli sighs. "Next one we find Ah say we just leave 'em to rot or get some more priests or somethin' to take care of 'em..." she comments as she looks around warily. "Dammit Hunclay, what in th' hells were ya callin' these things for anyways? Does it have somethin' to do with th' Shady Tapestry or whatever it was?"

Calli palm strikes the devil cleanly, but it does not appear to be harmed.
Kale does what she can to fend off the creepy crawlies and removes herself from the swarm.
Alex backs out of the swarm and swings the door open. He continues out down the hall.
Haruf is up! Pink -2hp.
Yah, Orange was in melee with Calli, so that still draws a penalty when firing an arrow.

The door was opened last round by Alex. From what I'm reading Kale, you are not doing anything this round. Just holding down the fort to allow others to escape?
Kale dry heaves over the spider swarm.
Calli tumbles towards the doorway. She is unable to clear the room, but is no longer in the swarm. The devil in pink awaits to escort her out.

I'll call it an excellent idea!
Alex drags Calli out the doorway and halfway down the hall.
