I've been putting together an adventure for a while now and I would like to test it before I make my real life group play it.

I haven't GM anything on here before but I played play by post before on another site however the activity on that is low lately and most of the folk there still play 3.5 rather than pathfinder so I decided to try playing the game here instead.

Now the adventure would start level 1. 20 point buy for character stats.

Little intro to the adventure:
You walk along the streets of Absalom when suddenly with no warning, you suddenly hear the voice of a man inside your head."I have been watching you for some time. Your actions so far have been noticed and I believe you can help me. I am very wealthy and can reward you richly for your time and effort.Come to Gerald’s Rest and Revelry tomorrow morning to discuss arrangements. Be prepared for travel there is little time.

Gerald’s Rest and Revelry is an average-quality hostel in the market district. In addition to multiple performing stages and rooms for rent, the establishment incorporates a number of private rooms that have witnessed every sort of secret dealing. The private rooms are rumored to be magically protected against observation. The hostel is quiet when you arrive, with a lone bard playing for patrons enjoying breakfast. The host is a perky young half-elf who quickly recognizes you and welcomes you inside, ushering you up a short flight of stairs and into a balcony room that overlooks the stage below.

The host leads you to a second-floor room, partially open to the floor below and with an excellent view of the stage. The sounds of a lute carry above the faint din of breakfast. A number of chairs are arranged closest to the balcony’s edge, and a low table against the back wall of the room is laden with fruits and pastries.

A dark skinned middle-aged human with dark hair and neatly trimmed beard stands near the chairs. You notice he wears a ring on each finger made of varied metals, bronze, steel, silver ect...and five gold rings on each ear. He is apparently enjoying the musical performance. He turns as the door opens, gesturing to the table. "Please, help yourself. My name is Sazed Khaim, and we have business to discuss, which is always more pleasant on a full stomach. Once everyone has arrived I will begin."

If you interested leave a post here and don't hesitate to ask if you have questions.

Dotting for possible interest, any classes, archetypes, or races disallowed?

Any non core-race or 3rd party archetype or class would need to be cleared with me first but chance are I will allow them.

Are you comfortable with the magister class(you can find it on d20 srd)?

That would be a no. I was unaware of this class until you mentioned it and I must say that is the reason I ask people to check with me for third party stuff. I looked at real quick and Yikes.

Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber

what about traits? starting wealth?

starting wealth will average for the class and you each get two traits.

Are you using Golarion dieties?

why was it yikes? I was having day dreams of a arcane/divine combo that actully worked...at any rate are you ok with classes being reflavored lore wise but not mechanically?

Are You Allowing Tiefling alternative Fiendish heritages? Also is the Rich Parents Trait allowed?

Proposing a character for your game - needs a little tweaking because he was originally made for another game, so I will be swapping out the traits and tweaking the background a little.

Let me know if he meets your approval or any changes you'd like to see made.

Yes Golarion deities

I will allow the rich parents trait if you can write me a back-story for you character that explains it and you don't spend more than 50% of your gold on one item.

I am allowing the Tiefling alternative fiendish heritage. Let me know what variants your taking.

As for the Magister I only looked at for like 5 minutes before making my decision but it's really powerful. More powerful than a pure sorcerer for sure and it takes away from clerics and wizards by making them less useful.

OK, I am an experienced roleplayer, but a complete newbie to online play. You will have to tell tell me how and where to post backstory, character stats, etc.

If you want to re-flavor something for rp reason I will cooperate.

I'm also new to this site myself. For the moment post your character in this tread when it's ready.

As a note I accidentally create this campaign twice and this recruitment tread is linked to the one were I gave the campaign the wrong topic name.

Welp for now feel free to continue asking questions here and you can post your character here for me to review when your done.

OK, Back Story:

The characters name is Achren Brayland, the adopted son of Sir Alec Brayland. Sir Alec was an aged paladin who came across Achren while out questing; he found a village of kyten-kin Tieflings who attacked him and he slaughtered them all. After they were dead, he was drawn to the sound of crying and was startled to discover a young child Tiefling crying over the body of its mother. Unwilling to slaughter a child out of hand, he used his detect evil to determine the creatures guilt or innocence and was surprised to discover that it was not yet given to Evil. Realising that he could not kill the creature, nor abandon it (which would be tantamount to killing it) he decided that the only thing he could do was take it to somewhere safe. Thus he took it to the Temple of Abadar in Absalaom.

The Abbot, though, was unwilling to take the creaure in and agreed to do it only when Sir Alec promised to stay and raise the child. Thus Sir Alec found himself in retirement raising a strange Tifling child as his own.

Thus the child grew up in the Temple. Not wishing the locals to be unduly alarmed, and bearing in mind rumours that circulated from occasional sightings of the child, the Abbot ordered that he be confined to the Temple grounds. Other than ensuring he received appropriate education, he largely ignored the child.

The Child, whose name was Achren (Infernal for "Hunter") was bright enough to learn much of what he was taught, but mostly rejected the worship of Abadar due to the indifference of the Monks, despite the urgings of his adopted father. He was more interested in History and especially the planes (some said unhealthily so).

The child did not have everything easy. he was barely tolerated by the Monks and Abbot, and was subject being bullied by the acolytes. During one such incident in his early teens, he reacted by manifesting a shining Knight shape about his person to scare off his tormentors: the knight was crude and patchy in appearance, later investigation revealed that it was in fact made of chains, some manifestation of his kyten heritage. Only the intervention of his father who swore an oath that it was not Evil (and backed it up with an unbiased view from a fellow paladin) saved Achren. From that day, Achren has practiced his manifestaion, turning it into a shiny metallic looking creature which on close inspection reveals the fine chains and the vague form inside (think like those office blocks with shiny windows that you can see through when you get close). In shape, it now resembles a (TBA - depending on Evolutions either a metallic dog or a knight on horseback).

More recently, Sir Alec Died of old age. He extracted a promise from the Abbot to take care of Achren, but upon his death the Abbot informed Achren that as he was clearly not suited to the religious lifestyle (read: not wanted) so the Abbot was going to release him into the world with the Temples blessing. After a suitable period of mourning and outfitting, This is what he did. Seeking his fortune and not knowing what to do next, Achren is walking along the streets of Absalom when...

Class: Synthesist

Possible Traits:

Reactionary (he was bullied, but never learned a violent response)
Scholar of the Great beyond (his favourite subject and the subject he was most often taught outside of the religion he rejected)
Rich parents (representing the generous support of the Abbot, who is making a kind of guilt offering)

Haven't decided which two of these three to take. Would welcome advice/suggestions

Racial heritage: Kyten-kin (+2 CON, +2 CHA, -2WIS)
Variant Tiefling ability: Does not sleep (but is not immune to sleep spells)

I'm also interested... How do you feel about the 3rd-party Elven Archer? Looks like a ranger-rogue mix, with a spot of arcane archer thrown in. If it's not your thing, I'll do something else.

I am pretty much new to Pathfinder and the one PbP I was in fizzled out very quickly when the GM left.

However, if you don't mind a newbie then I am posting Erik for your approval.

Given the name of the game and the NPC, would it be a problem if we have read the books you seem to be basing the game on? Will that ruin the mystery?

I'm currently working on a Divine Hunter half-orc. The crunch is done, though not posted in the alias yet, the fluff is in very rough format in my head, the place it's of the least use, I should be able to get the app completely done today, and then I'll post the information. Just wanted to follow up with the original interest dot.

Elven archer is fine.

The book I'm basing it on? Are you referring to the Mistborn series?

That's were I took the name from but the campaign isn't based on the plot of the books so no it's not a problem.

Looking good I'm thinking of starting the adventure on Monday assuming everyone has a character ready by then.

I'm gonna be limiting the campaign to 7 players for now.

So far
-phantom mouse
-Jafo
-Viluki? Not sure
-Bleyz
-Gavmania
-Loup blanc
-Erik Haakon

If Viluki isn't playing then you can play doomed.

I will not be taking any new applicants for now.

You may wanna wait on cutting submissions until more people do have solid characters. However, I for one will commence working on mine.

Well I'm assuming everyone who said they were interested would join except maybe for Viluki because I didn't allow that 3rd party class.

Originally I was gonna have a max of 6 but I decided to raise it by 1 since there was a lot of interest.

We've definitely got the back row covered, what with my Divine Hunter and the Elven Archer. Of course, I think we both can help Erik with the frontline in a pinch, we just don't excel there.

actully Im interested in joining either as a cleric (reflavored as a warlock) or as a magus using the 3rd party Cabalist archtype (where as the normal magus is a fighter/wizard the Cabalist is a fighter/sorcerer) gm do you allow the Cabalist or should I make my reflavored cleric?

This is my Divine Hunter that I'm applying to the game. Please let me know what you think of him.

Also, as he's the first primary archer character I've built for Pathfinder, if anyone has any suggestions, I'm more than willing to listen.

Just noticed Bleyz is Jafo's character so we have six.

Hadn't noticed that myself. Just to let you know, I'm Ausk.

I've updated my sheet with feats, skills, gear etc.

I've used a couple of bits from People of the North, mostly because of the flavour. Let me know if they aren't permitted and I will swap them out.

I'm pretty new to Pathfinder, so if anyone wants to look over my sheet and let me know if I've done anything wrong or daft please go for it!

Hello,

I would like to submit Devin, here, as a candidate for your PbP campaign.

I need to re-write his backstory, but all of his stats are ready to go.

Thanks in advance for your consideration.

Go ahead with the cabalist magus

Out of curiosity, how high of a level do you foresee us going?

Assuming we play it trough to the end?

should be around level 15-16 by time you fight my final boss.

Alright Devin Doomed Hero decided to sit this one out so I can fit you in.

Actully im withdrawing, just can't get in the mood. Good luck on your campaign though.

Ready to go
Ausk
Erik
Devin

Bleyz is 99% rdy to go

Alright just need Gav's character and Loup blanc's Elven archer and were good to go. Assuming we are ready I might get us started tomorrow. However tomorrow my activity will be random as it's my 24th birthday and I will be drinking and playing board-games or video-games with my friends for most of the day.

After that my activity will be pretty good I work from home from my computer and will be keeping and eye on the forums all day during work and after work I play pc games for the rest of the day and I can check the forums using my second monitor. So overall during weekdays I'm sitting in front of my computer around 16 hours/day and will check for new posts every hour or so.

If everyone can make at least 1 post per day we should make very good progress.

Happy early birthday then Dire, here's hoping for many more to come.

Happy birthday a day early, DM - I will be playing PF in a face to face game tomorrow so won't be avail between 10am and 4pm pst... but I will get those traits switched out asap.

here is a link to the gameplay topic if your character is approved go ahead and make an intro post

OK, I've registered. Do I need to do anything to link this character to the game?

you just need to make a post as the character in the game play tread and that will dot te tread for you.

im not 100% how its done maybe someone who has been a player before can say more

alright looks like were getting started

could one of you exlain to galv how to setup his character I'm unsure of how it works myself.

also my guest havent arrived yet so I have nothing better to do than wait around checking facebook and posting on here for the moment.

I did open a bottle of mead to celebrate tought. Like a viking!

Happy birthday! I'm not completely sure how all this works myself as I am new. Hopefully one of the others can explain to Gav.

As soon as you post in gameplay, the campaign will be tagged on your main alias' "Campaigns" page, complete with notes on new activity.

This is Loup Blanc, by the way. I'm going to rework this alias into my half-elf elven archer for this game; have everything planned out, more or less, just need to put it into a stat block and paste it in here.

EDIT: Just got the new info in the alias, but can't change the image for some reason; I'll try again in a bit. For now, will head to gameplay.

Liberty's Edge

Thanks for letting me in!

Devin's name has been creatively re-spelled for the purposes of PFS registration, but otherwise, he's identical.

Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber

Devyhn - you do realize that this is not a pathfinder Society game - it is a homebrew campaign - you didn't need to register the character and experience earned in this game won't count for society play. For society play, you have to play in sanctioned pfs games.

Liberty's Edge

Oops! I misread DireMerc's post. Thanks!

No biggie, I just want to game; Society play or not.

Sczarni

Is this recruitment still open? I cannot tell for sure if it is full or not... If not, submitting Oberst here, all info in profile.
