You arrive at the site of the door with surprisingly little difficulty. The path is still littered with the results of your previous exploits (they're smelling wonderful), and it's only now, after the fact, that you realize just how lucky youall have been. The Alligator-man seems even larger now than when he was breathing and you notice half a dozen perfect places for deathtraps that you simply overlooked the first time.
When you arrive, Murr produces the scrolls and the casting list. It takes a long time. The magics stored in the scrolls make your hair stand on end as each applies enough exquisitely tuned destructive power to render each of you to ash several times over.
When the last spell is cast, the door's glowing wards fade and it rolls to the side of its own accord.
When you enter, you are met with perhaps the exact opposite of what all the stories say an evil lair should be. You stumble half blinded into a brightly lit library complete with an exposed second floor. The spacious, twenty foot tall room is dominated by polished bookshelves which are populated by just about every arcane volume you have ever heard of and then some. Each is in good shape. Their spines and varied sizes create a parade of knowledge.
Four grand staircases ascend to the upper level, one in each corner. The floor of the first level is covered in a soft, warm carpets and is dominated by a huge polished wooden desk piled high with books of all descriptions. The room is warm... too warm.
That must be because of the five fire elementals gleefully setting the upper floor ablaze. The far side of the second story is just starting to go up, but if action is not taken soon the whole place will be gone in a matter of minutes. You hear arcane chants from that area and a pair of larger elementals burst into existence near the large table on your floor. As you enter, he is just finishing his summon.
"Burn the maps! he commands in a furious tone. We only need a few hours more! The elementals spread out to several places, starting fires as they go.
Of to your left, you finally noticed something that should have caught your attention earlier: Tears. Five of them to be exact. The same ones whom you encountered at the Nerid's Kiss!
When the last spell is cast, the door's glowing wards fade and it rolls to the side of its own accord. Go time, Tears! Caligrific commands. Move! Move! Move!

You have no idea where these maps are, but a good bet is within reach of the walking bonfires. Various Know checks can get you valuable books and bits of a map for the path ahead, but doing so also requires searching as a standard action. In other words, you search or you fight. You cannot do both.

Ceinwynn Davenport |

Ceinwynn turns and calls out to the others. "Who are you and why are you here?"

Noro_Kas |

Noro looks around trying to guage the situation. You again? I ain't got time for thish. yelling to the "former" foes If you think you can handle it, take care of thoshe fire freaksh, I'm gonna....well no point anounshin what I'm doin'
Noro immediatly starts heading towrd she heard the chanting. chanting usually means magic, it don't take much intelligence to know Fire doesn't walk around on uts own, so it's gotta be magic.

Kalam Sayros |

Sergeant Sims tears his eyes off of the destruction around him and focuses on the others across the room. He blinks in surprise for a moment before shouting across to the tears, "Here to interfere with city business again? Well follow the lady's example and make yourselves bloody useful!"
Turning to his own companions, he barks out orders, "Hal, see how many arrows you can pump into the walking furnaces in a minute. I hope you can conjure more than just flames, Mezzen! My lady. You're with me!"
Pushing forward, the dashing young guardsman follows the slurring tear towards the source of the chanting, shield high and rapier at the ready.

Halsanna Firdraes |
"Hal" was already in the process of putting arrow to string, recognizing-- if one could be said to "recognize" elementals; more like she recognized the method to the caster's efforts, associating them with another incident in which the Tears were also present. "Acknowledged", she stated superfluously, already taking a step to the side and letting a pair of arrows fly at the closest elemental. This member of the city watch was entirely focused on the bow as she let the arrows go, the smooth motions indicative of a lot of time spent with this specific weapon type, beyond her evident heritage displayed by her swept-back hair that reached just past her nape. No jewelry was on either ear or hand, just a badge hooked on her well-used leather armor.
"Tell me Tears", she called out casually as the fight began. "Is the one who aided me the last time we met-- are they present?" smiling softly as her had went down to her hip to draw another two arrrows, trusting the enchanted bow to aid the quick dispatching of the flame-formed creatures. "I owe them a favor.." Of course, this was said with a bit of the air of a noble out of habit, since the stilted phrasing was not quite local, though the current situation they were in likely threw the context off.

A well-muscled masked figure enters the room, followed a moment later by a tawny mountain cat. His gaze sweeping the room slowly, he nods toward the nearest of the living flames; the big feline bounds across the room in response. A moment later the Tear grabs his polearm and follows.

@I don't recall, but if I'm not wrong - it was Johnny that helped you Hal. Sadly, he left
Freia dashes trough the door as soon as the enchantments are broken, flanking Zayid and Aboki. She barely register the cosy furniture - instead her mind quickly fixates on the elementals. She jerks to a quick halt and swallows hard. WhyWhyWHY! Why must everything and everyone be on freaking fire all the freaking time! GAH! But her psyched up self quickly shifts up from fear to fury, with some help from the ambient aura of sin magic. And the fact that this time, the fire was something tangible - something she could fight. With her comrades at her side.
She afforded the team of 'watchmen' no more then a quick stare, then she turned her masked visage back at the elementals. Damn haughty greedy fools... Atleast they can help put this down! A quick spell summoned the familiar crackling blue energy around her blade, and another encased it in ice. "Destroy the elementals - then we can argue jurisdiction!"

Ceinwynn and Mezzen to act. Noro and Kalam have standard actions left. Friea has yet to act, so I moved her back on the map. Pelgrev and Ariana are MIA, so I will be using them as GM backup incase this goes south. If it goes south too badly, however, even they won't be able to save you. They're no Deus Ex, so don't get too stupid. :)
Halsanna's arrows lead the way into battle with a light hiss followed by a crackling howl from her elemental target. Kalam and Noro mirror each other as they advance up the sidelines, followed closely on the left by Zayid and Aboki.
They're fire elementals! Don't attack them with claw or fist! yells Ariana. They burn whatever they come into contact with!
Zayid slashes from the edge of the elemental's effective reach and manages to clip living flame. Aboki swerves under his companion's long iron-tooth and attempts to dodge the flames at they lash out at him. Fortunately, the Elementals are still taking stock of the tasty meatbags and suffer in their accuracy accordingly. Aboki attacks. Their flaming form, however strikes back and burns Aboki's mouth and nose.Unfortnately, aboki is using natural weapons, and thus takes damage as if struck for 9. He now makes a DC 16 reflex save or takes 1d8 fire damage per round for 1d4 rounds. You may roll on the ground for a +4 to this save. This applies to anyone attacking them with natural or unarmed attacks.
Zayid, with Ariana's warning, I'll allow you to call off the attack with a Push check should you choose to do so.

The elementals reflexively flinch away from the intense cold, but cannot avoid it completely. Both their fiery gazes focus on Mezzen.
Mezzen, in order to get within range of both, you will have to enter the threatened area of one. Please roll to cast defensively.

Zayid Tumaini |

"Aboki, back!" exclaims the polearm-wielding Tear as Ariana's words register.
Handle Aboki: 1d20 + 5 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 5 + 4 = 28
The cat gives a little growl of frustration, but swings around mid-stride and waits for another command instead.

Kalam Sayros |

Ducking behind the gnome as he unleashes his sorcery, Kalam is struck by the intense heat given off by the towering pillars of moving flame. A glance at the others upstairs is enough to give him pause in rushing forward. Touching the flask at his belt, the guardsman offers a quick prayer, "Cayden, if you're listening...please keep me from going up like the mead soaked candle I most assuredly am...", as he speaks, a faint shimmer seems to appear around him. (Cast Shield of Faith)
Glancing past the elementals, he shouts to the tear with a lisp, "Right, up those stairs ma'am! I'll take the bloody pyromaniac from this side."
If I understand the map correctly, the yellow areas are stairs to the second level? and the smaller elementals are upstairs, you have them smaller at the moment for simplicity, yes?

The elementals finally realize what exactly is going on and lay into the only two people who have delivered themselves into their natural reach: Zayid and Mezzen. The fire lashes out with super-human speed and unerring accuracy.
Zayid takes 11 from two hits and must make two saves vs burn. Mezzen takes 14 and must save twice as well. DC 16 or take 1d8 damage for 1d4 rounds. Rolling about gives a +4 to the save and you save every round to end it prematurely.
Freia then charges up, but her blade misses the ever-shifting elemental.
Close behind her, the huge shoanti Pelgrev charges around the table and gets between Mezzen and the Elemental. His hands have become bestial claws which slice through the living flame like paper. As a side effect, the outer edges of his clothes catch fire. He grunts at the pain and continues to stare the elemental down.
Party (except Freia) up!
However, Freia, if you wish to pre-state your actions, I won't say no. :)

Perhaps it was something about the adrenaline, or something about the focus she used when she was firing arrows, but whatever that was that she had heard before was present again, from the second shot of her arrows. The action of firing was routine enough that she could idly pursue the thoughts without affecting her shooting, as the sound was there. It was not a rising or falling, just.. there, like one would hear the hum of a water wheel, or the warmth of a nearby fire.
Her eyes kept the rest of the room in the periphery, as the arrows were sighted and released, no different than the practice range. The nearby threats had to be removed before she could look further.

Round 3
Inspire Courage in effect
Unless something interrupted her, Halsanna would be firing arrows until she ran out, though the others were handling things fairly well. It was good for them that she was not going to run out of arrows too soon. As she started to sight on the same Elemental yet again, she realized that the smaller Elementals were not putting up much of a fight, and they were being distracted by the larger ones!
"Saving the books! Shout for assist!", she informed her group. Shifting her aim, she sighted on the first smaller elemental that had not been engaged by anyone yet.
