Am working out the details, so please be patient. The ultimate goal is not to commit to a complete campaign, but to accomplish shorter story arcs that will be linked together as players advance in level.
All files, graphics and maps will be distributed and shared in a secret Facebook group. That means, (1) you must be on Facebook, and (2) be willing to "friend" me.
For those reluctant to consider this, my name is John Maki, and I am part owner of BlackStar Studios, a company producing Pathfinder-compatible products. Facebook pages for either reference are easily found. Products are also easily found on Paizo.com, RPGNow.com or DriveThruRPG.com.
As with many RPG games, a balanced group will be advantageous, but not required. I anticipate being able to entertain 6-8 players. You must be able to check the game at least once per day to keep things moving.
One final thought:
My experience with this PbP format is that doing encounters in initiative order can be really slow if one or more players doesn't check in often. For that reason, encounter rounds will be done in two phases. The initiative rolls of the players and the foes will be averaged, and each round will be the group with highest initiative first, then the other group second. Sounds strange, but combat flows a lot easier and faster. If a player does not perform a move and action during an encounter within a reasonable time frame, then I as GM perform a "best guess" for him or her and then we move on.
Let me know if there are more questions.

Will try to address your questions in the order received:
Yes, applications are being accepted. I will edit the description of this campaign area to change the language.
Decisions about who will be playing will be made within the next week or so.
Rules: Pathfinder, with Shadowlands conversion. The conversion guide is a free download --> here.
Setting: The world of Saemyyr, which is described in the conversion guide (2011 ENnie Nominee). The first adventure will take place near The Shadowlands.
Characters: Characters must be Shadowlands compliant. See the conversion guide for more detail. I also have pre-generated Core Class characters available to start, if that would be helpful for someone who is still learning the Pathfinder system. All characters who can cast arcane spells must be affiliated with The Brotherhood of Magus. Doing the conversion is not difficult. Create a character as usual, then use the Shadowlands guide to tweak it.
Let me know if there are other questions.

Grayn |

The creation of Gezzo Wrathforge, Svarog Inquisitor, employed by the Brotherhood of Magus as one of their enforcers and investigators, is nearly complete.
I am also ready for Facebook groups.
Are you looking to post our character sheets on the Paizo site or do you want us to hold them for something else?

![]() |

I will be creating the Facebook group tonight, and look to start the adventure by this weekend.
Who is interested in exploring Saemyyr?
Following are some guidelines:
Starting Characters:
- 25 Point Epic Buy System
- 1st Level (because there is no gain without some pain)
- Full hit points including CON ability modifier
- Starting Wealth: use the maximum wealth per class on the starting character wealth table
- NO EVIL alignment
A document with traits will be available in the FB group file area, and you will be allowed to choose one trait to supplement your character's talents.
Character sheets can be scanned and placed in the FB file area. It is also necessary to put the character information online so that it is accessible during the game. Several guidance documents for online resources and using this Paizo system will also be available in the group file area.
Please respond by giving me an indication of what class of character you are creating, and affirming that you have downloaded the Shadowlands conversion and applied the necessary tweaks (thanks, Grayn, your information works fine for this purpose).
I'm....getting excited!

Argyros Amyntas |

The traveling wizard/swordsman (magus) Argyros would like to apply.
Argyros is still a little rough around the edges, but all the basics are there.
- Will the dervish dance feat be available or should I plan for a strength build?
- Will players using arcane magic have any difficulty joining the Brotherhood? I assume not, but wish to be sure.
I have downloaded the conversion packet and briefly read through the character creation sections. I can't promise I caught everything on my first pass.

*Again raises hand* Have down loaded the free stuffs. Will have some time to sort out some character soon.
Face-book thing created.
Very much cheers to all.

How do Druid nodes affect a Druid's abilities? Are they simply a home location I need to keep in mind, and create a plot hook when an enemy decides to go burn my home grove, or do they serve a mechanical function?
EDIT: I'm thinking of making a Airgiallne Druid. Sorry, missed your desire to know what was being made. My youngest decided, 'Three o'clock in the morning? Totally play time' and I've been up since.

Answers:
Any feat from the Core Rulebook, Advanced Players Guide, Ultimate Combat or Ultimate Magic is allowed.
Players with arcane magic abilities will be affiliated with the Brotherhood of Magus via the story.
Boats will come into play eventually.
Druid node a background location...for now. Knowledge (nature) a good skill to have when exploring a giant world full of unknown places.

I was reading the conversion guide.
My personal suggestion: Dump the "+1, -1" to stats. Odd ability modifiers are a bad design idea. Sometimes they will benefit players and sometimes not. You wound up with races that have ability modifiers that only matter 50% of the time. Why even bother if half the time, they do not matter? It doesn't add anything to your campaign setting. I'm also of the opinion that it looks amateurish.
Just an opinion from a potential customer. The rest of the campaign has some interesting touches like the reliance on alchemical items and the "colours of magic" Shouldn't one of them be octarine? :)

I found it make a difference in my character. I always end up with a few odd stats. The +1, -1 left me with all even stats.

Argyros is in, almost has his character completed, and has been imported into the Facebook Group. A second character is almost ready for the admittance process.
The rest of you, reply when you are ready for character review. There is still room for at leat two, perhaps up to six more characters.
Let me know if there are any questions.

How do you resolve AoO in this system?
My character concept is a flowing monk who uses a reach weapon such as a double-chained kama or kusarigama to trip (or grapple for flying creatures) enemies approaching him or the casters/ranged attackers in his party.
I could see that being obnoxious to resolve in a system where you detail all of the actions for all the enemies and have to go back and redo all of the ones that end up being tripped, etc...

It's not a very big problem. If an AoO for a PC occurs during an encounter, the final actions for that particular enemy are delayed until it is resolved, then its actions continue or are modified. Usually doesn't interrupt the flow very long.
