I get up from my sleeping bag, and stretch. Feeling the multiple injuries I sustained the previous day, and grin. I then start a small fire from some of the furniture I smashed last night, and prepare breakfast. While the food is cooking I sharpen the greatsword, and dump the beastman corpses into the vat in the western room.

I'm assuming the spellcasters want to prepare spells, and eat. Giving me plenty of time.

Gezzo stretches and gets to his feet. Pulling some rations from his pack, he gives a bit to Lryhla and he takes the rest. With breakfast complete, he saddles up and steers his wolf to the barricade. When he's sure there is no one on the other side, they climb over and scout the doors.

If coast is clear, move to X4 and examine door for traps, listening to the other side for noises. If he sees or hears nothing, move to X8 and take the same action. Lryhla uses scent at each door to try and smell anything beyond it.

Perception: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (20) + 15 = 35
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

Awakening after a delightfully restful sleep, I arise and neatify myself and look around for the rest of my companions. Seeing Thorgrim having breakfast I wander over and say, May I join you? and sit down to eat with him. Great job of getting rid of the corpses, Thorgrim! Thank you so much for sharing your breakfast. It was delicious. Shall we go see what the others are up to?

Gezzo carefully opens the southern door and peers inside. The room contains numerous straw mats on the floor, as well as a scattering of items - shoes, clothing, partially eaten food, etc. In the northwest corner of the room two large chests sit against the wall of the room.

I head into the east room and decide to check out the boxes and barrels and desks along the south wall since everyone else is clustered around the south door on the east wall and there is no hope of getting in there. Finding nothing in any of those, I proceed to check out the bookshelves.

Fener opens the north door on the east wall, and sees a rather opulent room. A fine carpet is on the floor, and a plump bed sits in one corner, with a fine blue cloth coverlet. A decorative vanity made of marble occupies one corner, and a desk occupies the opposite corner. A large chest sits at the foot of the bed. The room is faintly illuminated by an opaque glass globe which glows in the center of the ceiling.

Fener:
As you peer into the room, you detect a small lever, about one inch long, just inside the doorway. It sticks out from the wall about shoulder height.

Imowen:
There are still some items on the bookshelves: an empty backpack (2gp); a wicker basket containing two pints of lamp oil (1sp); three wooden clubs, 2 bags of caltrops (1gp), and a finely made medium, masterwork heavy mace (312gp – 1d8, X2, 8 lbs., B).

He also examines the chest from the outside looking to see if it is locked. if not locked he opens it.

I take an empty backpack, 2 pints of lamp oil, 2 bags of caltrops, and a fancy masterwork mace from what I found on the bookshelves and leave the rest of it.
I move to W-6 and observe the goings-on at both the north and south doors.

Fener:
In the desk drawers you find a ring of keys, a journal, a gold signet ring (5gp), an ornate gold bracelet (38 gp), flint and steel (1gp), and a masterwork silver dagger (322 gp). The chest is locked.

Gezzo:
You do not see any traps. The chests are locked. You do not detect magic in this room. However, you do sense the faint presence of several magic auras coming from the room to the north of you.

Flug:
As you stand by the vat, which now contains numerous dead bodies, you can hear a noise start emanating from the large tube which extends from the wall and drains into the tank. It almost sounds like a humming noise...like something is starting into motion.

Fener takes all that he finds in the desk. Keys, Journal, Ring, Bracelet, flint & steel, and the dagger. Talking to Rudy hmmm nice dagger...

He takes the fine cloth from the bed. Rudy, this may come in handy or even make a fancy bed for you. Hah can you see that! all curled up in your den, covered with this thing. hah! hah! hah!

He tries the various keys on the chest.

He also casts Detect Magic in the room.

Your detect magic spell detects magic in the chest, and a source under the bed! One of the keys opens the chest. It primarily contains ordinary women's clothing. However, one item, a cloak, radiates a faint aura of abjuration. Under the bed you find an old wood box. Inside the box is a belt, and a small cloth sack with a pearl in it. Both the belt and the pearl radiate faint transmutation.

Celif:
You can hear a noise start emanating from the large tube in the west room, which extends from the wall and drains into the tank. It almost sounds like a humming noise...like something is starting into motion.

As he is leaving the north room, Fener examines a small lever in the doorway. It is in the "up" position. He moves it to the down position, and the glass globe in the north room stops emitting light and goes dark.

Those of you observing the vat note that the large chute is sucking up the contents, including the bodies that were placed there. Very quickly the vat is emptied of contents, the actions stop, and the humming machine noise falls silent.
