I tried to look at the map but it just has the castle posted. I would suggest that if there are any buildings on the way to the castle that we do a cursory glance looking at them but not spend any real time there. We don't know know how much time we have with Ameiko and know that there are people/creatures at the castle. They might also be able to tell us why Shiori and Ameiko don't know their own ancestors who apparently live here.

I guess she'll be fine if she has been doing her extracurricular exploring already.

He shakes his head. Or-chid you dont play with peoples bones. Its not nice. Why dont you help me carry these to the graveyard so they can rest? He begins gathering the remains and carries them to the graveyard. Once there he lays them respectfully inside. Guardian I found these remains and while I do not know much about what needs to be done I imagine you do. Could you please care for these folk while we clean out the castle?

Koytine continues to absentmindedly watch for anything of note.

She will also cast Detect Magic in each building as we proceed just incase something is there.
I wonder how these folk died and why they have been left here for so long that there are only bones left?

heal check on how long bodies would need to be there to be nothing but skeletons? Nothing exact but couple of years vs decade type of thing 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
Mary ponders the problem before them. It seems that some of the buildings are in ruins as evident by the first tower they came across. Other buildings are empty such as those by the graveyard. Others contain skeletons that have been there for quite some time without anyone taking care of the bodies. To me it seems as if there is 1 of 2 scenarios: the people of the village have fled to the castle for protection and live their after continually being attacked by raiders, or the village was destroyed by the raiders. Which option it is I don't know for sure but something is happening around here. If it is related to Ameiko I don't know either but there is only 1 way to find out and that is at the castle.

Mary looks for some signs of life indicating that there are people or creatures present. If she finds any boot tracks or something akin to a humanoid presence that they can talk to Mary will try a diplomatic approach and call out for help. If there are no tracks that she can find then she will try to slip in the crack to see if the castle is deserted like the rest of the village appears to be.

Sorry about the if/then posts but trying to let you know all at once what Mary would do so everyone can react accordingly.

Just as Mary is about to call out to the current occupants of the castle she spies Shiori trying to slip in through the narrow crack of the door. Not wanting to raise awareness to Shiori's actions Mary bites her tongue and waits to see if Shiori is successful. If Shiori is able to make it past the door then MAry will attempt to follow her in to see what is on the other side.

If Shiori can't make it through then she will call out.

Koytine, still pretty clueless about what is going on, will cast Mage Armor on herself to provide a little more protection.
If she already has this cast, then she will ready an action to cast Color Spray should any enemies appear.

Seeing that there are indeed residents of the astle even if they look more birdlike than human Mary will hurriedly try to introduce themselves before hostilities erupt. Oh, hello. We didn't see anyone in the village and thought the castle may be empty as well since the door was partially open. The name is Mary and you are?
