Gloin son of Azgal ForgeHammer |

DM the claw that is hitting AC 25 does indeed hit gloin. (he was at AC 23 due to charge)
Round 2

One should also pay attention to his defense. Troll I got this Fight.
Current AC 27

Firebeard |

Firebeard was focused on the troll now, weaving around its thrashing arms to land blows in weak spots on the thing's elbow, wrist, and knee. He was trying to get behind the creature, and open a shot for Varik. He almost didn't hear Gloin, though the words had little effect.
Trying to flank, side-to-side with Gloin to give Minx a clear shot.
flurry: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
flurry: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21

crit confirm: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

Min Maximus |

stabalize: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
fortune stabalize: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
min falls to the ground with a thunk!
Wags, if you heal me, even at minimum rolls i should be on my feet and able to finish it before it attacks again!

DireMerc |

Gloin strikes the troll in the gut again and Firebeard brings it down by landing several powerful blows at key points shattering it's kneecaps.
Varik puts down his bow and strolls over taking out a vial.
He casually pours the alchemist fire over the roll remains while you heal Min.
"I want to apologize" he says "I was holding back because I wanted to see what you could do and it almost got one of you killed."
"That said this old veteran does have a few tips for you...Your friend lands very powerful blows but his defense is a bit lacking...You also made him stand out as a target and lowered his defense even further by making him larger, while this does increase his attack power that may not be the best decision. That guy" he points to Gloin "would most likely be a better choice, he would benefit more from the extra reach and damage and he seems skilled enough at defense to compromise for the extra size, if he becomes a target I think he would last longer than the other one did. I get the impression you haven't been working together very long, but you did well overall. Just keep at it and find ways to combine your efforts and you will do well...I do owe you one thought, if you ever find a beast you need help taking down send me a message and I will come if I can, also take these flaming arrows." He puts down 6 arrows. "I would have used them all fighting the creature by myself so I might as well give to them you as reward for your efforts... I will also be sending a report to Jeffar letting her know that you were very helpful."

Ozen Helix |

clw: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
clw: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
clw: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
clw: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
So +17 hp for min
clw: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
+8 for Gloin
Ozen quickly moves up and begins applying the wand to Min bring him back to almost full strength before turning and aiding Gloin.
Hearing the man's words Ozen blushes strongly enough to be seen even with his red skin.
I was about to say the older man's words when I realized if he is human I am probably 3-5 times his age.

Ozen Helix |

I am 90, Tiefling's base age is 60. Witches get 6d6 added to that so between 66 and 99. I will die in my late 200's early 300's. I really hate that all races don't start at the same age myself that's why most of my long life races back stories have something driving them out of their original life. That said I am only double his age.
No Min this is the afterlife it ate us all. We are currently being digested along with that poor ranger.
Ozen manages to look sad for a few moments before laughing at him self.
Just kidding. Apparently the beast locked on you as a target because of your size, Sorry about that. Gloin and Firebeard were able to put it down though. Then the ranger gave us some advice on battle tactics and you woke up.

Gloin son of Azgal ForgeHammer |

Aye this is my second combat with these guys so far. And as for the enlarge spell you only want to use it on me when there is a need for having a passage blocked. It lowers to much my defenses otherwise. he pause for a sec
But he is right if you don't think ahead on the type of opponent and feel the flow of combat min you will end up taking a dirt nap many times.

Min Maximus |

"Balderdash! Ain't no problem I've ever seen that couldn't be solved by hitting it really really ridiculously hard! I may be lackin' in the defense department, but ain't that what the folks with healing abilities are for?
Min gets defensive for a moment, and then relaxes and admits:
"but, aye, perhaps you are right... I am getting rather tired of being unconscious. Maybe next time we should make a game plan, and I'll try not to rush in and kill everything?"

Gloin son of Azgal ForgeHammer |

Aye it is man, but eventually in a dungeon or on the road when you have multiple combat during the day you don't want your healer's abilities to be completely drained after a fight or two. See Min the secret to be truly a warrior and not just a fighter is to be mindful of the abilities of others in the group you are protecting. One does have to plan for the next unforeseen combat that may or may not happen while dishing out the hurt in the first one.
Says Gloin slapping the man's back with a smile

Min Maximus |

Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22
Min sees all the things, and then will take a look around to investigate the bedding and everything to confirm that this is a troll's 'home', and not just a cave a troll stumbled upon.
survival: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
"Hmm... If this truly is a troll cave, there has to be a troll hoard, right? Where's all the treasure?"

Firebeard |

You like those fast NPCs, dontcha?
init: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Firebeard headed off into the cave with Min to poke around. After all, the stories of trolls and their treasure holds were a vital part of dwarven oratory.

Min Maximus |

did min hear or notice the Orc at all with that nat 20 perception?
init: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
Min reaches for his greatsword as soon as he see they are not alone.
"damn! These orcs must be hiding here as well!

Lilly Hennett |

Lilly prepares her crossbow.....
Release bolt: 1d20 ⇒ 4
Dmg: 1d8 ⇒ 1
....this thing seems to be cursed for some reason :)

DireMerc |

Gloin strikes the orc who stumbles back and nearly falls over from the blow.
He turns and runs back into the cave shouting in orcish. (using withdraw)
"Human soldiers found us and made it past the troll! Get up here!"
Lilly misses and Min nearly drops his sword while Ozen reduces his defense.
Two additional orcs come up from deeper in the cave wielding shields and battleaxes.

Ozen Helix |

They were using the troll to protect themselves. There may be more orc's coming up be careful. Min, Gloin go for the weakened ones first.
Helix stays 10 feet behind Min and Gloin drawing the wand of CLW as he steps up.
Evil eye -2 ac dc 15 will save which ever orc min is closest to. Gm are you still boting Wag's. How big is the door orc sized (medium) or troll sized (large).

Firebeard |

Firebeard rushed to Min's side and began lashing out with strikes and kicks designed to cripple. "Oi! Sounds like there be more'n this lot comin'! Might be needin' yer bow agin Minx!"
No idea if they are in a position where Firebeard can flurry.
flurry: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
flurry: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8

DireMerc |

Minx most likely didn't hear firebeard.
Ozen does his evil eye on orc 3. orc 3 will save: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (13) + 0 = 13
Min charges forward to catch the wounded orc (orc 2) but misses.
Gloin moves up and delivers a powerful blow to orc 3 who doubles over in pain. (at o hp)
Firebeard moves and and tries to hit orc 1 but misses.
Wags fires her bow at orc 2 but misses.
longbow shot: 1d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 - 4 = 21d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Lilly reloads and fire again (I assume) she just barely misses.
crossbow: 1d20 ⇒ 131d8 ⇒ 3
Orc 1 attacks firebeard
attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 131d8 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
Orc 2 attacks Min
attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 161d8 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Orc 3 attacks Gloin
attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 221d8 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Orc 3 collapses because of his injury.
You can all post again.
A map has been added.

Firebeard |

Firebeard moved to put his opponent between him and Min. He lashed out at his opponent with another series of strikes. Several missed, but one connected solidly.
5' step up one square for flanking with Min
flurry: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
flurry: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

Min Maximus |

"Do ya truly hear more comin, my dwarven friend? I don't hear nothin!"
Min spins around and attacks the orc behind him (Orc 2) with a mighty swing of his greatsword.
GS Attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 222d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 5) + 6 = 12
His mighty swing continues on and strikes at the orc engaged with Firebeard!
Cleave!: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 102d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 5) + 6 = 16
AC is now 16, and idk what happened... it double posted and then I deleted one and it totally changed my dice rolls. meh

DireMerc |

Happened to me a few times too.
Firebeard badly injures the orc he is fighting and Min kills the orc in front of him but misses the one fighting firebeard.
Gloin goes over and finishes off the one fighting firebeard.
You wait and no more orcs come.
You attention is soon draw to a large wooden chest at the northern end of the room.

Lilly Hennett |

Lilly curiously stands slightly next to Ozen.
Is this person truly speaking to dead parts?
"Those bits of flesh are unlikely to respond to your suggestion, why talk to them then?"

Min Maximus |

Min sees his chance...
He playfully slaps Ozen on the back and says:
"What's this about not wanting to talk about it? I got a few swigs o' whiskey left in me flask, how's about we open up some old wounds? That's what adventuring friends are for right? And I love a good bit of story tellin'!"
