An old salty sailor joins you at your table. As the ship rocks and creeks on the water as it sails.
"Do you gentlemen and lady know the dangers of the deep?" he asks. "If not, beneath the waves of the sea of fallen stars lies the sahuagin!"
Sigvald face goes stony
"The deeps have many perils but one of the worst for civilisation is the Sahuagin, vicious beasts, that all need a good killin."
"What are sahuagin?"
"There are monsters that live under all this water?" Saélihn asks.
John looks at the man. "I heard that there were some beautiful creatures down there. Might we come across some?"
Sahuagin are humanoid creatures that worship dark gods and live beneath the waves, they gather in hunting parties and attack land or ships and take people to sacrifice to their gods or to eat. I suppose there are some beautiful creatures beneath the waves, but unless you have swimming magic it's hard to really get to know them.
"I've sailed all of these waters from the Moonsea to Mulhorand bay. And nothing is worse than the sahaugin. But if you want to know about beautiful creatures, aye. From the Choral Dragons to the beauty of the sea folk, there are monsters that live under all of this water, missy. After all, why are we sailing so close to land? Because beneath our feet lies a sahuagin kingdom!" he explains and exclaims.
John thinks to himself. "We will have to get some kind of fish mage then.
"Well in my days I have never heard such a thing. But I have heard of men that can turn into wolves, so I suppose that evil fish people is not so unheard of."
"That's nothing, according to our destination," said the old salt. "We are headed to Chessenta. The place of the old empires. We are headed to a city that worships a man called Tch'azzar! And the might of their spells and magic is beyond reckoning!"
John perks up at this point. "Magic you say. What kind of magic do they do?"
Callanon looks on, listening intently to the conversation.
Such crazy things outside the woods. I thought what we had was crazy.
"Ancient Magic!" he said, waving his arms. "Magic that would astound your senses. For instance, they can summon a troop from out of the ground! It's like sowing dragon's teeth into the ground, only they use the eldritch magic. Plus some magic can reverse an arrow shot at you, others use dreadful curses, miracles, summoning minions!"
"Wow! I have heard of some of those kinds of magic, but I know but one or two kinds myself. "
That's not too far off what I will eventually be able to do, with the Grace of Valkur.. good to know i'll have mighty magics... eventually." says Sigvald with a cheeky grin
"No, I suppose not. But we are sailing into dangerous waters, my new friends. So, has anyone played Wist?"
He sits down with you, hoping to play Wist.
Abu looks at the man, "What is Wist and how do you play it?" he asks.

Callanon turns, looking at the water, "No, thank you. I prefer to take in the scenery."
"Just water out there, boys," he says.
Outside, there is nothing but water as far as you can see. The moon (Selune) shines on the blue waves, giving them a beautiful effect. The ship sails on with the cross wind against it's sails, leaving your port city far behind. And a few clouds dot the landscape, but nothing to indicate a severe sea storm. yet.
Sigvald notes the favourable weather
"Thanks for your blessing Lord Valkur."
Saélihn sits on the deck staring up at the moon, enjoying the feel of the breeze against her skin. She missed the rustle of the trees, but the rocking sensation of the boat was somewhat soothing.
Callanon points into the murky darkness at what he sees.
"Is that a ship? A... sunken ship?"
"Yes! Being piloted by a green skinned fish-man!" Saélihn says grabbing up her bow.
Abut looks over from his cards. "What ship?"
The ship comes closer, and those with low light vision can see that there is more than just one sahuagin.
Sigvald casts divine favour on himself
Sigvald cries out loudly
"Good eyes my friends, Ghastly beasts, Valkurs might shall prevail... to arms all Sahuagin attack!"
and then he draws his mace
Saélihn fires at the creature sailing the approaching ship.
The sahuagin are still determined to attack the ship.
Abu looks at the now visible ship. "Oh, that ship."
Before they get in range Sigvald will use his studied target on one that is likely to board near him
Callanon will take cover behind the mast, and right before the boarding begins, he will shapeshift into a large constrictor snake.
There are eight sahuagin on the ship.
