The still pinned, injured xenos disappears over the northern cliff face as the two other flying creatures begin to come around for another pass.
The shadows amongst the landslide return fire on Cort
Singe shot -30: 2d100 ⇒ (70, 30) = 100 1 hit to the head
Damage: 1d10 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5 Pen 3
Dark shapes will show over the lip of the southern cliff.
Suppressing Fire: 1d100 ⇒ 42 Cort and Eirik need to pass a -20 pinning test
Firing on Eirik: 1d100 ⇒ 20 Hit!
Damage: 1d10 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10 Pen 3 to the head. If you don't dodge you need to pass a toughness test as before
Cort: 1d100 ⇒ 86 Miss
Escaping Pinning: 3d100 ⇒ (30, 44, 47) = 121
@Eirik - It will take you a half action to change position to the driver seat. Starting the vehicle is a free action but the vehicle is still face first in the cliff face. So it will need to be reversed for a half action.
@All - Anyone who is in the vehicle but is not firing out cannot be targeted individually. Moving around within the vehicle will take a half action (eg moving to control the heavy stubber, moving to fire out another side of the vehicle, etc)
Time for turn 9!

Garion Valkof |

Looking back, Garion quickly takes in the tactical predicament Cort is. His scholars would have taught him to back down, that his wounds were to great to intervene. But, his faith in the Emperor tells him The Emperor Protects, and he cannot leave a man behind.
Raising his Bolt Pistol with a prayer on his lips, he sends one last volley of suppressing fire at the Xenos harassing Cort. He then leans forward, an arm outstretched towards Cort.
The Emperor Protects, Cort! Xenos filth such as this shall not bring you down! Shake them off like the vermin they are, and take my hand!
1d100 ⇒ 37

Jermaie Dael |

"No bloody more!" Jermaie shouts as he raises his boltgun and fires at the xenos high on the ridgeline.
Semi-Auto; BS:42-20(I'm imagining there's a minus in there somewhere, if I can even see the bastards)=22: 1d100 ⇒ 37
Edit: And Jermaie misses in his excitement to avenge his fallen comrades.

Wikvaya Shoodii |

Still not clear on whether First-Aid is a half-round or full-round action, but I'll use it on Jermaie, then Cormaeg. Haven't used First Aid on them yet though unsure which of them is more wounded.
Wikvaya, still on the rush from the stimm in his system, goes about applying medical attention where it is needed.
Medicae (Jermaie) {100 = 60 int + 10 medicae + 10 master chirurgeon + 20 medikit}: 1d100 ⇒ 80

GM Larkin |

@Wikvaya - I don't see any rules on how long a medicae test should take in the OW rulebook. I lean towards a full action because stitching up a wound can't take 3 seconds. However, I'll look through my other 40K RPGs for a ruling
@Eirik - You can test for any non-specialist skills at a -20 so dodge Ag -20. Extra Damage: 1d10 ⇒ 4 You still need to pass a -20 pinning test

GM Larkin |

Initial hit on Eirik was 10 pen 3 vs Armour 5 TB 3 = 5 wounds. Poision should cause another 4 wounds with no soak so that's a total of 9 wounds. Assuming you were initially at 11 wounds your maths is correct.
@Cort - I'm not sure know what you mean by "5 then your toughness bonus" but it sounds like you are forgetting pen
@Wikvaya - Medicae is a full action in the DH2 Beta and that's as close as you can get to the OW ruleset

GM Larkin |

Eirik Climbs down into the vehicle'd driving seat and reverses it away from the cliff face, turning it to aim at the gap between the broken down APC to the west and the cliff-face. As it moves there a harsh grinding noise comes from bellow the rear compartment.
Operate(Surface) tests with this vehicle are at -10 while it is still heavily damaged. The distance Cort has to move is considered the same
One of the creatures on the ridge has clearly been unaffected by the fire as he lets a burst of suppressing fire back at those firing out of the vehicle
-30 BS test: 1d100 ⇒ 23 Garion is hit!
Damage: 1d10 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10 Pen 3 to the chest
Jermaie and Garion need to pass -20 pinning tests
The rest of the xenos on the ridge and amongst the landslide to the east fire upon Cort
Single shots with -30 for pinned: 4d100 ⇒ (31, 50, 81, 10) = 172
the fire is only light and inaccurate, and only a single shard hits Cort in the head
Damage: 1d10 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7 Pen 3 to the head
One of the xenos on the boards speeds over the top of the cliff swooping at Cort's position, low and close to the surface, his blade in his hand
Hit and Run: 1d100 ⇒ 33
The blade catches Harmon low in the back
Damage: 1d10 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11 it cuts through the man's pack and comes away covered in blood. Harmon yells out as he staggers forward but amazingly he doesn't fall.
Both of the other 2 flying creatures complete their turns spraying the rear of the clanking vehicle with fire
BS: 2d100 ⇒ (81, 32) = 113
Jermaie takes a dart in the arm
Damage: 1d10 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12 Pen 3
CRIT!: 1d5 ⇒ 3
I'll have to look up what that does in the morning
Don't forget your toughness tests if you take any damage at all!
Feel free to post for turn 10

Garion Valkof |

1d100 ⇒ 91
1d10 ⇒ 8
Heroic though his action was, it was foolish nonetheless, and Garion collapses upon the ground, seemingly dead.
Should be at -12, so I believe im dead. Will burn my only fate point if I have too. Part of me wonders if I should just die and make something more survivable or combat savvy. Ill continue for now.

Cormaeg MacCammon. |

Let's see if I get it right, Wikvaya has an int bonus of 6, he succeeded with three degrees, so that is nine wounds back? I had 8 wounds previously, putting me Juuuuuust on this side of lightly wounded.
That would make me fit for fighting now if I have it all correctly.
Since suppressive fire is a full round action, Cormaeg will put himself in position to give some next round, oh and brace.

Jermaie Dael |

All these crits!
Dodge; Agility=40+10(trained)=50: 1d100 ⇒ 66
buggering!
12-3(toughness)-2(armor)= 7. Jermaie is at 5 wounds and stunned. Boltgun's out of commission. Does cover soak any of that damage as well?
Tougness: 31: 1d100 ⇒ 29 phew!
Jermaie, twisting around in the truck, trying to get a better angle, hardly glimpses the flying shard before it comes streaming through the night, flashing through the tip of his boltgun and into his left arm. The impact throws his arm onto the side of the truck, giving it a killer numbness. The pain is excruciating as Jermaie can hardly move. He manages to pull the shard out, however, before it starts releasing its deadly toxin.
Jermaie puts his back to the side of the van, breathing heavily.
Pinning; Willpower=25-20=5: 1d100 ⇒ 48
And to top it all off, the stream of deadly fire erupting from the xenos' guns forces Jermaie to put his back to the side of the van, breathing heavily.

GM Larkin |

@Jermaie - In order to fire into the vehicle they have to use called shot anyway taking a -20 and saving you from being hit twice, so even if it had of hit legs I would have re-allocated it. It hit arm, which would have been exposed while firing your weapon. I make certain assumptions based on your previous actions how much of you is exposed
@Garion - No worries. I really didn't expect you to fail your dodge, fail your toughness and get so high on the extra wounds roll. But this is 40K. You are considered to be on -10 wounds and unconscious for the remainder of the encounter. To everyone else in the vehicle you look dead
One of the barbs catches Garion central in the chest as he attempts to cover Cort's retreat. The commissar is thrown back wards into the cabin landing awkwardly. Cort and Harmon climb in just in time to see the light go out of the man's eyes as the poisons take effect, robing him of all his strength. Garion goes limp, his eyes drift closed, and his breathing slows to nothing.
To Garion, his body going into shock, the whole process is thankfully painless. It feels like being finally able to sleep after a long hard day's worth of numbing exhaustion. Unable to speak allowed, with his last thoughts he silently he gives himself to the Emperor.

Okey dokes.

GM Larkin |

Eirik guns the engine of the vehicle and accelerates towards the gap between the wrecked vehicle and the cliff.
With Jermaie right behind him as the weapon is knocked to the floor, Wikvaya sees the bruising Jermaie's fingers get and the new wound on his arm
Medicae: 1d100 ⇒ 36 Jermaie is healed for 10hp

GM Larkin |

As Cormaeg sets up his weapon out the back of the vehicle he is the only target for the Xenos amongst the landslide.
Called Shots: 2d100 ⇒ (81, 85) = 166
But they loose their mark on him as the APC pulls away. Meanwhile most of the xenos on the clifftop start to race to a better position. It also seems that you have briefly lost sight of the xenos on boards. It is like the eye of the storm
Breaking Pinning: 1d100 ⇒ 78
And you're all up again

Jermaie Dael |

Jermaie stares wide-eyed as the brave commissar falls in a heap on the floor of the truck. A single thought crosses his mind, repeated over and over ad infinitum. "It's your fault."
"No, damnit. No. No. No. Damn you xeno bastards. Damn you all back whe'ver you blasted come from!"
Jermaie shakes off the helping touch of Wikvaya and pulls out his storm bolter, ready to blast away at the bastards that got Garion.
Pinning; WP=25: 1d100 ⇒ 1
That's a half action to ready my storm bolter, and since I'm pinned at the beginning of my turn and make the pinning test at the end, that's all I can do, right?

Wikvaya Shoodii |

Wikvaya moves to Garion's side, bringing his medikit over.
Medicae (Garion) {100 = 60 int + 10 medicae + 10 master chirurgeon + 20 medikit}: 1d100 ⇒ 53
While I know Garion is out for now, Wikvaya would still check to make sure there's nothing more he can do.

GM Larkin |

Cort is still pinned so he get's -30 to bs tests and can only take a half action. His target is calculated as follows BS = 58, Darkness -20 (normally -30 but cort has heightened senses sight), Pinned = -30, single shot +10, comrade +5. Total modifier -35. Target 22. You missed. You need to pass a WP test to escape pinning.
@Jermaie - Yes you are correct. Your test to escape pinning is at the end of the turn, so unless you have quickdraw reading your stormbolter will take the entire turn
Wikivaya finds a weak pulse. Swiftly he works to stabilise Garion removing the deathly shard from his chest and cauterising the wound before he bleeds out. If Garion is strong and lucky, Wikvaya thinks, his body may be able to fight off the poison.
@Wikivaya - Technically that test would have failed, but I'm not letting you heal him at all for now so we'll ignore it. He's at -110, but the maximum modifier is -60, but that will negate your master churgeon, medicae bonus and medikit bonus (Which is now +30 for having an improved kit)
@Eirik - the vehicle can move 16m per half action. If you want to go faster you can pass a difficult -10 operate test to get an extra few meters equals DoS per half action. failing will make the vehicle go out of control in a random forward direction for a few meters. It's pretty safe when you're out in the open. Next turn you'll need to pass a challenging +0 operate test to get through the gap without using 2 actions
Unless you tell me otherwise I'll assume you won't push the vehicle any faster

Cormaeg MacCammon. |

Ugh, I don't like being singled out like this!
Cormaeg quickly retreats into the APC, moving to take over the heavy stubber instead of the autocannon.
But deep down, he hesitates, hoping there won't be a need to make himself a target again.
