The Heghland 1st - Only War (Inactive)

Game Master PhilOfCalth

A group of feudal warriors brought together from every corner of a world almost completely untouched by the Imperium, hastily trained and recruited by the Imperial Guard.
Can they survive when faced with the horrors of the universe?

A quick question for further clarification. The Stabilize order says the comrade helps the character brace the weapon for full/semi auto bursts.
Does that mean I have to take the half action to brace first or not? Stupid question maybe, but the -20 for darkness means I need all the help I can get, and being able to aim before a semi auto burst can make all the difference.

1d100 ⇒ 88 athletics fails for my first action so I get no where

1d100 ⇒ 75 athletics and fails again.

Nice

Quickly, everyone move! Get to the treeline and head for Baldur! Fallback by Squads and cover each before the Xenos come back!

Will post Garions move in a bit, need to look at the map and figure out which direction Baldur is, and what defensive actions I can take and still move.

Male

@Cormeg - Darkness is at -30. It's at -20 for Cort because he has heightened senses sight. No you're comrade cannot brace the weapon for you. You just get the +10 for semi-auto and full auto

Cort gets 8m up the incline, scrambelling against the loose rock and the darkness.

@Garion - You still have a broken leg, so you're still on half movement and can't run or charge. The maximum you could get per turn on your own is 3m. If you want to survive you really need someone to carry you on the stretcher. Perferably 2 people

Male Human Commissar-Wounds 13/13-Fatigue//Healing Leg

Damnit, Paizo forums ate my post!!! Essentially, I am posting two actions, pending what everyone else chooses to do.

Assuming the others agree to carry me:

Warp take this leg, I cannot run or flee! Carry me upon the stretcher, and I will cover you as best I am able! The Emperor Protects!

Half Action to move to Stretcher, Half Action to use Guarded Action.

Assuming they refuse or are unable to carry me:

The Emperor Protects, Warriors of the Imperium! Flee now, get to cover and join up with Baldur and Cort. I shall cover you as best I am able. Leave me, I can only slow you down! Fear not for me, THE EMPEROR PROTECTS! FOR THE EMPEROR!!!

Inspire: 1d100 ⇒ 91
Are you f&$@ing kidding me? It was a 45 Earlier, barely passing with one degree of success. Well this sucks.

Male Human Commissar-Wounds 13/13-Fatigue//Healing Leg

GM, assuming the 2nd action I post is the one that happens, would you be willing to accept that I did in fact get a 45. I realize you have no reason to believe me there, but I figured it cant hurt to ask. Also...damnit Paizo forums! The speeches in my first post were so much more heroic!

Male Medic [Damage/Wounds 1/13 | Fate 1/1 | Insanity 1 | Initiative +3]

I assume it was my comrade that got killed instead of Garion's. And dang, Garion. That's sucky. Might I recommend you with Lazarus: Form Recovery to make sure you never lose your posts? Saved my butt a lot of times.

Wikvaya hisses a particularly foul string of curses in Heghland when he sees Solar fall.

Now that Garion is out of immediate danger, the shaman does a quick patch job on himself, focusing on sealing his major wounds.

Medicae (Wikvaya) {100 = 60 int + 10 medicae + 10 master chirurgeon + 20 medikit - 10 blood loss modifier}: 1d100 ⇒ 92

Well, frig. I'm just glad I have a high score on Medicae.

"Commissar, I still have a Blind Grenade I can use to create cover when we move."

I'll wait on my remaining half-action to see what the others will do. I can either ready a Blind Grenade or help carry Garion.

Warp take it all. We have to get to them. Erik shuts off the lights on the working half track then runs to the track he has been using for spare parts and tries to get its lights on.

I realize this will take more than one round but this way you dont have to wait on me next round.

Male

@Garion - I really can't just take your word for it. Sorry! I hope it won't be an issue anyway because I would hope someone will come try to carry you. Really I like the vision of 2 people running with you on the strecher suppressing with your bolt pistol as you go...

@Wikivaya - Sorry, you're correct. That was you're comrade who was gunned down. It'll take anyone else a full turn to get to you and help carry Garion

@Eirik - The working half track is still running. Or do you want to turn that off too. When you say get to them, are you refering to the prisioners?

Male

I'll wait till tomorrow for Jermaie. Otherwise I'll post for him

Cormaeg curses a blue streak as the metal slivers whip all around him, especially when he realizes that atactical withdrawl woulkd make it impossible to move at the same speed as everyone else since he has to stop and set up his weapon at each new postion.
Eventually he simply decides to do a run for it, try to get as far as possible and then try and re-evaluate.

Cormaeg and comrade will do a run action straight south this action.

[ooc]I think I'll try and reroll this with my last and only fate point.

Dodge(reroll); Agility:40+10(trained)=50: 1d100 ⇒ 40

That's better.

Jermaie dodges out of the way at the very last second.

"Forget it Narine," Jermaie yells at his comrade. "Get back here and show the xeno bastards that Heghlanders aren't afraid of their skinny arses!" Comrade either full or half action to make her way back to me.

Jermaie will spend either his half or full action getting over to Garion I'm not sure how far it is, but I guess if Wikvaya could do it in a half, I can too.

When he gets there, Jermaie addresses the Commissar and Wikvaya. "This is all my fault. If anyone's gonna live up ta' it, it'll be me. Go, you and Cormaeg start getting Garion out of here. I'll follow behind you and try ta' hold 'em off."

Male

Narine is pinned, injured and is in no way getting back to you this turn. It's doubtful she'll get anywhere. The bad guys are bearing down on her...

Cormaeg and his comrade have already high tailed it. If Garion is getting to safety it's clearly down to Jermaie and Wikvaya to move him

Male Weapon Specialist; Wounds: 1/12

Oh, I didn't know she was injured

But as Jermaie gets closer to Garion he can already see Cormaeg's body moving through the trees towards the trucks.

"Alright then," Jermaie says, startled. "Guess it's up to you and me, Wik." Jermaie will then spend his other full action gathering up the stretcher.

Male Medic [Damage/Wounds 1/13 | Fate 1/1 | Insanity 1 | Initiative +3]

"Cormaeg has gone ahead, hopefully somewhere he can give us covering fire." Despite Wikvaya's words to Jermaie, he doesn't sound too hopeful even as he prepares to carry the stretcher.

I'll use my remaining half-action to get ready to lift the stretcher.

Male

The 3 Xenos on boards now heading north and bear down upon the exposed Narine. The lead one Swoops down at her with his bladed hand as she attempts to crawl away
WS: 1d100 ⇒ 13 He grabs her by the back of the head and swings his board vertically. Narine's scream sounds of shock, horror and pain. She flails uselessly behind the xenos and they gain more and more altitude.

Both of the other Xenos turn their boards 90 degrees, in wide arcs east and west. Clearly they are attempting to come back around for another run. The fire from the forest seems to have stopped for a moment but Garion, Wikvaya and Jermaie can see dark shapes moving at unimaginable speeds through the wood.

The screams of fear from the Dominate captives turn to screams of agonizing pain.
Cormeag and Eirik can make an awareness tests to see if they can figure out what's happening near the look-out post. You're on -20 for darkness. Any-one who makes it to the open ground this turn can try as well.

Turn 3 is up. I'll try to modify the map tonight

2d100 ⇒ (7, 60) = 67

Cort races up the hill first, then stumbles a bit the second action, but he makes the top of the hill, with Harmon at his side

Male

Cort straight away sees the shape flying vertically into the night sky, pulling a flailing shape behind it. Then he notices the 2 other huminoid shadows speeding away east and west on some sort of flying bords.

Count them all to be at medium range
Awareness test (-10 for you) to figure out what's going on with the prisoners

Didn't mean to leave anyone behind, but with the whole bracing each time I set up to fire, I figured if I get ahead a bit I can give you cover for longer as you make it past me.

Heh, 9% chance then? Well, heck, who knows?

Awarness (per 29 - 20): 1d100 ⇒ 23

You needed to be at the top to see and you needed a full action to get to the top

Yeah I know, I got a little excited and made a mistake. Sometimes when you are the heavy you forget you have a backup weapon too (usualy).

Male

In the grim darkness of the far future there is no pity!

Cort:
Because you are closest and it prob should be a per test for you and Eirik anyway I'm going to give that awareness roll to you

Cort can see 2 lithe warriors in spiked armour at the tree. They are cutting on your prisoners. The one that is making all the noise has been cut from groin to chest and, with his hands tied behind his back, can do nothing to stop his intestines from flowing out. The other Dominate soldier has be lifted and pinned to the tree by a wicked looking knife through the chest. He's weakly struggling, but choking on his own blood.

Cormaeg will stop his headlong run, turn around and brace the autocannon, preparing to begin giving covering fire until the others have got past him.

Brace, order for stabilize and overwatch with a semi auto burst ready so the angel covers behind the other group.

To clarify you have not actually braced the weapon, so if you fire you will be getting the negatives for that. Also you need to give me a condition for the overwatch to go off and a general area you're covering

Male

Eirik:
Dark shapes move around the tree that the captives are tied to, at the look-out spot. It's hard to tell from the distance you're now at but they seem to be attacking the bound men. You're think one of the dominate soldiers is pinned to the tree by a xenos blade.

Also you can turn on the lights of the other machine but you cannot start it. You already know it's not got the components to start

Male Human Commissar-Wounds 13/13-Fatigue//Healing Leg

Assuming we begin moving towards Baldur, will Garion have any targets to shoot at or attempt suppressing fire? Are there actually visible targets in the woods?

Male

Visable targets: 2 Flying xenos going east and west. 1 Flying xenos north and flying virtically up into the air. None of these will be able to turn around for another run for a turn or two. All of these are at medium range for you at the moment
Targets you know are there: Unknown force of xenos south of the camp, in the woods.

Characters' Distance Over Open Ground (40m):
Narine - 14m (18m up)
Cormeg - 6m
Jermaie - 10m
Wikvaya - 10m (Assuming he's running with Jermaie, carring Garion)
Garion - 10m

Male Medic [Damage/Wounds 1/13 | Fate 1/1 | Insanity 1 | Initiative +3]

Ah, yes, I'm running, carrying Garion.

Wikvaya continues to run.

Male Human Commissar-Wounds 13/13-Fatigue//Healing Leg

Garion scans the woods, searching for targets as he prepares to face the unknown.

Not at books, not sure what it is called, but im taking the Full Defense action, whatever its calles

Male

You have 2 options. 1- Suppressive fire which will pin the enemy where they are and give a small chance of hitting one. 2 - Overwatch which gives an increased chance of hitting one but a decreased chance of pinning them all.

Male Human Commissar-Wounds 13/13-Fatigue//Healing Leg

Ahh ok, thanks GM. I need to use my lasgun for supressing fire, right?

Male

You gave your lasgun away to the natives. You need to use a weapon capable of semi-auto or full-auto to do suppressing fire. Full-auto is better. You just need a ranged weapon for overwatch

Male Human Commissar-Wounds 13/13-Fatigue//Healing Leg

Ok, ill check up the stats for my Bolt Pistol and Supressing Fire when I get home tonight.

Male

Stats?! It only has semi-auto. So make a BS test with an aditional -20 (total -50). Everyone within you arc will need to make a pinning test at -10 regardless of weither you hit or miss.

Male Human Commissar-Wounds 13/13-Fatigue//Healing Leg

I meant rules for Semi Auto. However you explained it already.

As Wikavya and Jermaie dash forward, Garion attempts to lay down Suppressing Fire in the direction of the shapes moving through the forest!

BS29-50=-31: 1d100 ⇒ 67

Though he has no hope of hitting anything, Garion sends Bolt rounds flying through the woods, shredding foliage and trees as the rounds explode upon impact!

Thats my turn. Will look up how much ammo I used tonight.

Male Brawler WS 47, BS 34, S 41, T 52, Ag 32, Int 30, Per 26, WP 38, Fel 39, Wounds 16/16, FP 2/4

Oooooh, I'm a complete idiot, I forgot that Overwatch is FULL round action...
Ok, if possible, I'll change my action to brace and aim at the west going Xeno.
If no allowed to change then the action that will release the semi auro burst is when one xeno passes into short range, and the area covered is the area just north of the other team.

Male

Yea you can change your action. NP

*pinning hidden dice*

Male

You're sure you can hear laughter in the wind as the shadow of the xenos in the sky parts from that of Narine. Time stands still as her body continues to travel up for a few moments before gravity takes hold of it.

The two other Xenos continue to turn their boards due south now, almost ready to come back around again.

Garion's blast of bolt fire must have succeeded in keeping the xenos in the woods back as the moving shadows stop and no extra fire comes from there. However, he does draw fire from somewhere near the look-out post and his stretcher, along with those carrying it is sprayed with metal darts
BS: 1d100 ⇒ 100 the darts spray between the streatcher bearers and end before they become accurate.

Eirik throws open the door of the wrecked APC and turns on it's lights. He instantly knows that he's successfully caused a distraction when a burst of darts come his way
BS: 1d100 ⇒ 70
The darts lodge in the shell of the vehicle but don't manage to hit him.

OK guys, the name of the game is get out of the open ASAP. You got luck with the dice that turn!
