Dorgrim too would be more than helpful in aiding in defeating the foul creature as he would like to see the effects of his training.

Thanks. I took a while, so I'm glad anyone other than me enjoyed it ^_^

I've pictured myself entering the Samaritans after a couple years of its foundation, but we can make the time and motivation fit. If that was a street battle I could have heard about it shortly after, and because the group would have just been formed I would have joined with another ideas, mainly to really help the group develop instead of joining in a already assembled team that could be bad because of the name.

I could even have helped defeating the disgusting brain collector. After all, Esaul is green in combat, but not inexperienced, and at least some arrows he would have shot at the thing.

That's up to you. Read Thondrir and my updated backgrounds and see what you think. Maybe at that time you were still level 1, and we were level 2. So you joined as a prospect, and then later after Korvosa another couple of people joined. So you were the greenhorn, but then you could take on the role of mentor for a later addition or something. -shrug-

I have my background up in my profile now. But virtually nothing else :) More to come later!

Side note, I'm a Lawful Neutral journalist and academic taking up the cause of the Samaritans first and foremost to further my career. I suppose I might not actually end up being a member, just the press adjunct.

Have added in the following lines to my background.

Hearing of Devan and Thondrir's deeds and battles persuaded the young dwarf that perhaps with them, he could find another adventuring party just like his old one. He Sought them out and after a combination of much persuasion, stubborn refusal to leave and ability to take on beasts bigger than him without fear allowed him entry.

I was actually first level when I got to Korvosa ^_^

I'll keep the background as it is, adding a time delay of half a year after you defeated the Brain Collector. I believe it's enough time to have other people joining the group before me and thus Esaul would have a hard time, needing to follow along, help with minor stuff and so on. Also, it would be enough time for the organization to become famous and for me to question about the name and try to join with an idea of questioning the reasons behind it.

I do believe that was like years ago, as someone (You, I believe) said that the group has been adventuring together for several years, so it would be waters under the bridge.

Anyway, I do hope to be selected.

I hadn't gone and looked up the adventure; I'd assumed if the DM wanted to tell more about the adventure he would, and I didn't want to potentially throw any spoilers my way.

Sorry that you interpreted my comments as whining. I was trying to point out that an adventuring group which "...will accept any work that falls into those fields in exchange for food and lodging (though if the person is in dire need, Steed has often been known to pressure them to work completely for free)" doesn't have much of a place for someone LN, which is one of the alignments the DM okayed. Just some constructive criticism so that maybe the group could be reworked to be more accommodating.

But whatevs, you obviously like your group how it is and I think I'm okay sitting this game out. I've played plenty of characters acting good for the sake of good, and didn't care to play that this game, so I'll just withdraw myself.

But any Lawful Neutral character wouldn't see the work as being done "completely for free." Mine certainly doesn't. It's so he can get a book and some journal articles out of it and boost his reputation. Maybe the work is free of direct monetary compensation, but he didn't get into it for that.

OK, I'm ready to submit Kel "Elbows" Ursanel for your consideration.

Crunch and background are complete in profile (though I expect to adjust purchases if selected).

Jubal, thanks for your answers about the arc of the story. I was mostly wondering how much I should be thinking about an advancement path for Kel...and I've decided not to spend too much time on it.

Please let me know if a horse is going to mostly just get in the way for this adventure. If so, I'd figure out some replacement (either another animal, or making him a Musketeer).

I should clarify my last post. I mean any LN character probably wouldn't have taken on the work with the Samaritans if he viewed it as being "completely for free."

Oh, I don't know about that, a LN character, looking for vengence, or justice, or some other goal could quite well join the Samritans. Of course you could see payment coming in the form of futhering his or her goals. Which is a payment that all the Samaritans should be recieving or why stay with the group. Payment in saitsfaction in a job well done, standing by ones friends, upholding a sense of honor, or the simple challenge of seeing she is as skilled as she thinks she belives herself to be. All of these things can drive a characther of any alignment to do the things the Samaritans are doing and have done.

But if you need still more motivation, prehaps a monetary incentive, a group like the Samaritans couldn't operate in any area that has a functional government for long without attracting attention. It is not beyond reason that a LN might join the Samaritans as a paid agent of the King. Either openly or in secret to both keep tabs on the Samaritans and to guide them to threats to the Kingdom.

Hope to have a character ready for submission, later today.

I agree. Unfortunately for the agent of the king idea, I'm pretty sure the Mindspin Mountains are basically wilderness with no law outside the few small settlements there. Which in a way makes it even more perfect for an adventuring group looking to help people who have no one else to rely on.

Oops. Forgot to mention that. You're starting on a mountain side, so any large animal companion that can't fly or climb will not be able to move. Medium size and smaller animal companions will be as challenged as the player characters in their movements.

I'll post a Status later after I get the kids to school.

cheers

Recruitment will close noon Eastern Time on Friday, December 20th. I reserve the right to pre-select additional players with whom I have played and close recruitment early.

Character Creation rules are updated in the Campaign Info tab including answers to some questions. Please review the example avatar. Only characters submitted in avatars closely formatted with the example will be considered. Please don't make me comb through spoilers and hunt for your information.

  • Just to clarify it, Esaul do have a medium animal companion, which does not have a climb speed but have a decent climb check. Otherwise in places where it would be impossible to climb without an opposing thumb (like a canyon) I'll carry him out on my back with leather straps. Esaul has been equipped to hold the animal's weight and still have light load.

Yes, that's fine. We'll cross that proverbial bridge if we reach one.

    cheers

You mention you don't like hunting through spoilers in character profiles, but I have mine organized in broad spoilers. Is my format ok, or would you like it adjusted? I cover the same things in the same order as your example, just have the different categories under different spoilers for simplicity.

Yours it about my spoiler limit. If it makes you feel any better, I used to spoiler my characters like yours. Now, my game mechanics are unspoilered, because if the GM is reading my character during the game, they are usually looking for something particular.

Also, please account the cost of your equipment, so I don't have to.

    thanks

    Reckless' Bowman, updated and Avatar'd

I've condensed my character profile a bit for your convenience, Jubal.

Profile de-spoilered and priced all of my gear. Tell me if there is anything else I need to get done.

    Profile now fully reformatted.

    Unspoilered.

OK, after conversation off thread with Jubal, I've:

    * Replaced my Cavalier Mount ability with the 3rd party Physical Exemplar archetype (though since I don't expect to add more levels of Cavalier I don't expect to be progressing past 1st level in this archetype)
    * Changed my feats around (adding improved trip and disarm)
    * Added a Personality section to his background

    Hmm. Gryfalcon.

That Physical Exemplar does not appear to be an archetype of the cavalier. That's an archetype for their Adept Godling class, which I'm not going to allow. On the page that you linked, the two 3pp archetypes for cavalier appear to be Knight and Horseman. Please try again.

    thanks

Totally happy to go with something else if you'd like. Before I do though...the Supergenius archetypes are made to work as additions to many classes, including the Cavalier. See the list of 3pp Cavalier archetypes. The Knight and the Horsemen are the two options for what you trade away for the Physical Exemplar archetype, represented by X[1] and X[2] on the archetype chart.

That said, I'll go back to PM to figure out other options.

OK. My mistake. I didn't see the trade in your link. I see now it's as you explained before, which is fine.

    cheers

Is it the 20th yet? lol...

    Cool, thanks!

Is it okay if I wait off on the Spells, Equipment, and Teamwork Feats for my Inquisitor until after the final cut if I get selected?

    Aldric will be up shortly.

Edit: Is my normal format okay? An example can be seen here.

I will be adding in a Stat Block like I did there eventually(mainly once I get Microsoft Office back to working).

    Dorgrim has being updated accordingly.
    Spoilers left for background.
    Crunch Unspoilered

This is ghost1776 submission, a 3rd level Cleric of Kurgess, who can best be described as a Pathfinder Society Brat, altough, he left Absalom at sixteen before actualy joining the Society.

To be honest this isn't my best work, but for some reason I had a really hard time coming up with a charater that I liked for this game. I almost always do crunch before I do background, personality, or appearance (I like hard numbers). This time I just couldn't come up with a crunch that made me happy.

There's not a lot of background, personality, or appearance, there yet, but what is there is firm and is not going to change, grow and be fleshed out, but not changed.

I hope to be selected so I have reason to find out more about the rubber chicken and the gorrila suit if nothing else.

...rubber... chicken... gorrila... suit... Are you Ok ghost?
    ^_^

Well at least we know his motivation.....:P

On the other hand You made bets with the Blakos family members?
    You are brave............

  • DM, can I take a Wizard-only trait as an Arcanist? There's nothing about class-specific traits in the Advanced Class Guide Playtest (unless I'm missing something).

More complete characters will be more considered for selection, so I would suggest to draft your Spells, Equipment, and Teamwork Feats for submission. After all, almost half of the team can already be reviewed, and everyone will have the opportunity to tweak game mechanics and background before starting.

My example avatar is posted in the character creation, and my opinion of them is here.

    cheers

Yes, I believe RAI is that those hybrid advanced classes count as the original classes, because you can't multi-class with them either, like rogue and ninja.

    cheers

Sorry my internet apparently didn't load up the edit...

I meant on Finalizing them. That way if need be I can change them to fit in with the rest of the groups needs and abilities.

EDIT: Okay so the Inquisitor I was using was just going to be one made for a failed IRL game slightly reworked but that game has came back and I have to many heroic campaigns that I am playing in now. So I will be withdrawing. Best of luck you guys.

And if you ever want someone to build one-off evil characters to mess with the PCs I will always be available.

Any chance we can get this moving earlier than expected, since the applications have decreased a bit?

    Sure
