Korriban is impressed at Lantressa and Callie's work. "Way to go, girls! You rule!" He then sees the Physician beating on Teodor. "Hey! You knock it off!" He turns to the Maidens closing in on Riceak. He moves out of the aisle he's in and into the next one to keep up the distance and the flanking. "Peek-a-boo..." He stabs his rapier forward!

Botting Riceak...

ROUND FOUR (cont'd)

Lantressa once again casts a spell and all three of the Physicians she glares at stagger as the spell takes effect. Korriban pursues the Gray Maiden in front of him, but is once more frustrated by the impenetrability of her plate armor (and his abysmally low rolls!). Riceak, grim-faced, continues to swing away, and thanks to Lantressa's spell slowing the Gray Maiden's reactions he lands a mighty blow that opens a gash below the woman's ribs. She gasps, "My life...for Ileosa!" and lunges at him, knocking aside his sword and cutting open the muscle in the man's side. Then she collapses, unconscious.

The remaining Gray Maiden on the ground gives a cry of rage and lunges forward, piercing Riceak's side with the tip of her sword. On the catwalks, one fires at Callie, but the shot goes wide, while the other careens down the catwalk toward the door to the north.

After his DR, Riceak takes a total of 15 points of damage from the two attacks, putting him at 29 hp.

The physician Teodor tripped clambers to his feet (which provokes AoOs from Callie and Teo. I'll roll them, assuming you want to take them; just shout if you don't!).

Callie AoO (IC, flanking): 1d20 + 9 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 9 + 2 + 2 = 25

Damage: 1d10 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 3 + 2 = 13

Both Callie and Teodor connect with the slowed, staggering physician as he climbs to his feet. Two Physicians approach Callie from behind, but thanks to Lantressa's spell they barely even close the distance, moving as though through some stiff barrier. The last Physician, scampering away from Lantressa, swings wildly at Teodor but whiffs. Cristina, reloading her crossbow, takes a shot at the Gray Maiden on the ground, but in her concern for not hitting Riceak her bolt goes wide.

Teodor and Callie are up to finish the round!

Botting Teodor?

Callie stabs the Physician who just staggered to his feet, and he falls to the ground. Teodor calls out to the patients in an attempt to get them to flee, but those in this room are simply too weak to take his advice...he scowls and swings his flail at the nearest Physician (blue), then steps back to stand back-to-back with Callie and Lantressa. The Physician drops to one knee as the massive ball connects with his ribs, but rises again.

Riceak cursed under his breath at the situation going downhill fast. He told the others to draw the fight away from the patients. They already had one killed by accident. And now another one was almost killed as the arrow bounced off his shield and hit a patient.

ROUND FIVE (cont'd)

The physician approaching Teodor doesn't even seem to notice Lantressa--until, that is, she lashes out and claws him, opening a gash on his shoulder through his thick leather robes. He doesn't cry out, but he does turn toward her and dodge her second swipe. Across the room, Korriban finally finds a chink in the Maidens' armor and thrusts his rapier into the woman's ribs. The woman cries out and, as Riceak bellows orders, goes down under his sword. Riceak, don't forget that inspire courage also gives you +2 to damage! ;)

The Gray Maiden on the catwalk fires at Callie once more, but she can't seem to get the angle right; this arrow clatters harmlessly off the floor. Her companion disappears through the door she opened while on the ground, the physicians slowly circle Callie, Teodor, and Lantressa. The one Lantressa clawed circles south and swipes at her with his club, but she dodges the attack easily. The two from the north, still moving slowly, close with Callie and swing their clubs at her, but she parries each away. Cristina dashes across the room toward the one visible Maiden remaining, and reloads her crossbow. "I am a servant of the Crimson Throne and a marine of the Sable Company, and I am ordering you to STAND DOWN, soldier!" she barks.

The Gray Maiden just laughs cruelly. "You're out of your jurisdiction, pig."

Callie and Teo are up to finish off the round! I'll move foes when I'm not on mobile, but if people need to know: the two physicians to the north just move 5' south, while the one next to Lantressa should now be due south of her. Red and blue Gray Maidens should be off the map.

Callie scowls at her armored ally across the room. "Listen, Swordhand, if you hadn't started making threats, we could've talked our way out of this and there'd be no patients dead! The only place to 'fall back' is into a waiting room full of more innocent people, so we're stuck here till we take these miscreants to justice. Focus on that and stop telling people what to do!"

With the doctor she attacked still standing, and not wanting to waste the spells to deal with him, Lantressa swiped with each claw at him Her first swipe was far off it's mark, the doctor easily dodging it, but her anger, her tie to the abyss, made her fight dirty and she smacked her tail across the back of his legs quickly and made him stumble forward as she swiped with the other. ROUND SIX (cont'd)

Korriban leaps toward the physicians, and sinks his rapier into the closest one's side. Riceak follows him with a curse, and his sword blow opens up the physician's stomach, sending the man down with a gurgle.

The one remaining physician, apparently not liking his odds, backs away slowly from Callie and turns to flee--but he's still slowed by Lantressa's spell, and he doesn't make it very far. He uses the "limited" withdraw as a standard action...but his speed's only 15'...

On the catwalks, the remaining Gray Maiden continues to rain arrows down at your group, this time targeting Cristina. The arrow *thunks* into a mattress, but misses Cristina, who dashes across the room and, with a growl, sends a crossbow bolt into the Gray Maiden's side. "That other one's made it down here!" she yells back to you.

And that brings us to Callie and Teo to finish up the round!

Lantressa knew that her available magic was starting to wear down, made her way over towards the reception room wall and took up a place beside it so she would have cover from the last grey maiden with a bow.

Botting Riceak again--I'll shoot him a PM to make sure he's ok.

ROUND SEVEN (cont'd)

Riceak nods, grits his teeth, and makes his way out between the beds, headed for the far corner of the room. Double-moving.

The Physician Callie is confronted, still paralyzed, twitches slightly but otherwise continues to seem helpless. The Gray Maiden who's made her way down the stairs advances toward Korriban, Riceak, and Cristina, drawing her sword as she makes her way around the tables and chairs that have been set up in that corner of the chamber. On the catwalk, the Gray Maiden fires off an arrow at Cristina, but misses; Cristina reloads and returns fire, but the Gray Maiden ducks and the bolt clatters from the catwalk.

Man, Cristina can't roll for crap. Callie and Teodor are up!

Just realized I probably should have cast allegro ages ago. Ah well.

Seeing the physician is dealt with, she looks up at the maiden on the catwalk. Callie points her sword at her and opens her mouth... but no sound seems to come out -- except from the perspective of the Gray Maiden, who gets an ear piercing scream full in the face. Male

The Gray Maiden on the catwalk staggers, clapping her hands to her ears, and slumps senselessly to the ground.

Just a quick update so we're all aware--Teodor is still up next!

Teodor turns to Anca. "How do you feel?" He channels energy again. channel: 2d6 ⇒ (5, 2) = 7

Male

Teodor, there are more foes technically still alive in your vicinity than you can exclude from your channel; am I good to assume that you'll exclude the ones who are unconscious but close to consciousness (basically maintaining status quo, but healing the upright Physician and one who won't reached consciousness)?

ROUND EIGHT!

As the Gray Maiden on the catwalks slumps to the walkway, Teodor channels the sickly light of Groetus once more, and his own wounds and those on some of the patients (and physicians) nearby heal. Anca smiles weakly. "Not...so very well, Teodor. I'm...glad to see you, though." It's clear that there's only so much the healing powers of a cleric can do for her and the other patients when they've been so ravaged by disease.

The one remaining Gray Maiden looks up at her fallen sister, but then continues on resolutely.

Botting Riceak, again?

ROUND EIGHT (cont'd)

Lantressa toasts the paralyzed physician with a jet of fire as Korriban circles the one conscious Gray Maiden and slides his rapier in between her ribs. Riceak circles her too, bringing his sword down toward her head, but she parries with a grunt. "You'll have to do better than that, moth," she snarls, with a riposte. Unfortunately for her, Riceak is every bit the swordsman she is, and deflects the thrust.

Anca whispers to Teodor, "Chucho? I think...Crissy has him...I don't...know..."

"Oh, for crying out loud, Teodor! Don't tax her!" Cristina snaps. Reloading her crossbow, she takes aim at the Gray Maiden. The bolt flies wide, and sticks into the table behind the Maiden.

Callie stares in horror as Lantressa incinerates the helpless physician, looking at the sorceress as if she sees her fiendish features for the first time. "He was... he was already subdued!" She shakes her head at both the random cruelty as well as the waste of magic on a foe already a non-threat, when they still had others to fight.

Although Korriban doesn't manage to avoid the Gray Maiden's notice, but he's too fast for her to hit as he leaps up onto the table. Whirling, he plunges his blade into the gap in her shoulder plates. She gives a strangled cry--and crumples to the floor! The room is suddenly quiet, the only standing foe left being the still-paralyzed Physician. His eyes dart nervously, but otherwise he remains rigid. Lantressa can bind him easily. Failed his save and there's a full round of paralysis left, so he is yours to tie up if you would like to!

COMBAT OVER!

An odd hush falls over the room now, broken only by the sound of coughing and twisting patients.

"But, first, we talk to him."

Teodor removes the mask. "Be a shame if you caught your own disease, Urugothan."

Male

Removing the mask reveals a pock-scarred and sallow but otherwise seemingly normal human man. He just stares at Teodor, dead-eyed. His mouth twitches downward at the mention of Urgathoa, but he purses his lips and says nothing.

It'll take some Diplomacy or Intimidate checks to get him to talk.

"Oh, he's not dead, good." Callie helps tie up any living physicians and maidens.

She then addresses Cristina. "Do you think you can get the Sable Company to come clear these lot up and see the patients to safer quarters?"

As they begin to talk to the physician, Callie leans down. "Look, you've already been half-burned, and even the best of us here have no sympathy for a bastard who as likely is making people sick than curing them." She pokes at one of his burns. "Even if you're not afraid of us, you can face our wrath or that of your superiors, whom we can leave you for them to find in a nice, easy place. I expect they won't be as nice as we'll be if you have to explain to them what happened. So make it easy on yourself and talk."

Yeah, that's who I meant. I thought he was unconscious.

Korriban walks over as Callie attempts to threaten the Doctor. He waits for her to finish before walking up and crouching down. "Listen. We know quite a bit. About you. About your cult. About the blood veil. Everything. Now, here's how this is going to work. You are going to tell us everything. About your cult. This Hospice. Your Davalus. Any allies he may have, including a man named Rolth. About where we would find a man named Ruan and your boss, a woman named Andaisin."

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (1) + 14 = 15

Lol. I'm not doing much better, Callie.

Male

Tying up all the downed physicians and guards takes several minutes; only one of the physicians is dead, the others and the Gray Maidens on the ground stabilized by Teodor's healing magic. One Gray Maiden remains on the catwalk, whether unconscious or dead, you can't tell. There doesn't seem to be direct access to the catwalk from this room, although the door that the final maiden emerged from leads to an arrow stairwell.

Cristina grimaces at Callie's suggestion. "It'll take a lot of explaining...but yes, I could get some marines here in an hour or so. If you think that's best." She turns to Teodor. "And it would be a chance for me to get Anca to safety...what do you think?"

The physician stoically ignores Korriban's honeyed tongue, but when Callie prods one of his burns he winces, and when she suggest leaving him for his superiors to find, he gasps.

"No! Don't leave me for them! I'm not anybody important!" He struggles with his bonds, but they're secure. "Fine. I'll tell ya what I know! Just don't leave me for that madwoman." He settles down slightly. "I joined up with this group in Egorian. And yes--we follow the Pallid Princess. A deity whose true beauty few fools like you could comprehend!" He snarls. "I met them through an art exhibit there: artistic and customized diseases, painted on the flesh of slaves. It was astounding! I knew I had to be a part of it. So I sought them out, and one of Lady Andaisin's acolytes initiated me.

"Not long after that, we were told it was time to head north--that we had a great project to undertake in the Princess's unhallowed name. That's when we came to Korvosa. We met Davaulus here. He ain't one of us, but he convinced Lady Andaisin to help him with the Korvosa plague project. I don't know what he wants, except that he keeps referring to our 'employer' and he keeps on trying to make the plague more powerful. That's most of what I do here: observe the disease's course, take notes on new presentations, find any individuals resistant to it and pass them below for examination.

"I ain't never seen Lady Andaisin up close more than a handful of times. This Rolth fellow I do know--a fleshcrafter. Not associated with us, but he works below as well. His work glorifies the Princess. I've never heard of a man named Ryan."

He glares at you all. "Now, if you've everything you need from me, let me go! I'll leave, I'll vanish--just don't turn me over to the Lady! She'd make a poppet of my flesh, and I got other plans!"
