Ryvin Altessar |
"Jasmine, Litheene," Ryvin says, her voice quiet now, and focused. "Knives out if you have them. If we can't use the One Power, we can at least stab a bastard in the kidneys if we have to."
Keelix Andren |
"Jasmine, Litheene," Ryvin says, her voice quiet now, and focused. "Knives out if you have them. If we can't use the One Power, we can at least stab a bastard in the kidneys if we have to."
Keelix smiles a fierce smile upon hearing Ryvin's words, keeping his eyes focused on their surroundings.
Litheene |
Litheene nods at Vala, taking the knife in hand.
I trust you and your sword more than any knife in my own hand
I can't rule out the possibility of being attacked by channelers, and then drawing attention won't matter in any case
RIZZENMAGNUS |
With torches lit, you advance into the darkness.
after a short walk, you find a set of rickety stairs descending into darkness below, your torchlight unable to reveal the bottom landing. The faint noise of a drop of water falling onto a puddle comes from below.
the torches dance and flicker, making the shadows dance and jump. With the way the tunnel has been carved, you cannot help but see the silhouette of the Fade leaping about, making your nerves twitch.
RIZZENMAGNUS |
Stepping down the stairs, you feel a chill run down your spine, as the ambient temperature drops to near freezing. Your breath steams out of your mouth, creating vapor clouds in the air.
As you step down your foot plunges into water, causing you to gasp in surprise at how cold it is.
so warm up on the surface, yet so cold down here. someone mummers.
Your torchlight casts forth its meager light, and it may be a trick upon your eye, but it seems that the light just doesnt cut through the darkness like it did above.
You step forward into the darkness, and what may be seconds, or minutes, or hours later, as the walls are non descript and plain looking, you suddenly see a fork in the tunnel.
One tunnel to the left and one to the right. Both look the same, same timber frame, same mold upon the walls, same dripping noise, but the one to the right has a simple beam strung across it, with red X painted upon it.
RIZZENMAGNUS |
As you walk down the left tunnel, you notice that your torchlight seems to be growing weaker. The flame itself still grows strong, but the light itself grows dim. The ever present sound of water dripping seems to coming from further down the tunnel, just out of eye sight, and yet, you never see any water dripping.
An hour passes, then a second, and you still travel the same tunnel, with water up to your knees, and the light only revealing the tunnel out another 15 feet beyond you. At first, you do not hear it, its rhythm the same as the water, but soon you hear it. A scratching noise, or metal against rock.
Drip scratch.
drip scratch.
drip scratch.
The same pattern.
You look behind you, and see nothing.
you look infront, you see nothing.
And yet it sounds like it is just out of sight, toying with you.
Scratch scratch Drip scratch
drip scratch
scratch scratch drip scratch
You feel something within you welling up, almost uncontrollable. at first, its just nerves. You laugh to yourself dismissing it. But it is still there, a knot at the back of your head, waiting. pressing to reveal itself.
You advance forward, and the feeling intensifies. now it is no longer just nerves. it runs up and down your spine, your hands begin to shake, your knees tremble.
Looking at the wall as you try to calm down, you see something odd. The mold. it is different. a different shade. Darker, more earth toned. Stepping closer to it, you smell something. Metal. No, metallic. Acrid. Shining your torch light upon it, you begin to see a pattern. Your breath steams out of your mouth as your body trembles, glancing about you see all members in your party doing it. So much for the calmness you think.
the scratching is there, quicker, faster, at the edge of hearing, making you wonder if you are imagining it. The mold, it is a clue. what is the clue?
Blood. It is blood! But, from what? from who? How?
Sharp pain lances from your mouth, you realize that you bit your lip, and your mouth begins to fill with blood.
The scratching noise, before faintly there, now rings loudly within your ears, overwhelming the water noise.

i need everyone to make both a reflex save DC 20, and a will save dc 20
Ryvin Altessar |
Reflex save 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21, Will save 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (19) + 10 = 29.
'This is - this is wrong!' The thought is as cold as the damnable mold that has closed in all around the group.
Warnings be damned. Ryvin reaches for saidar, claws for that tranquil river as if clutching at a wrestling partner. The currents immediately change, a vortex seeming to open beneath her and pull her down.
'I am a fire orchid. I am a fire lily. I am a red flower that opens up to the Light, my petals the colour of blood and rust...'
Forced calm. Acceptance. The flow of sweet, sweet saidar...
'I need Fire...'
In the eyes of any woman with the ability to see, Ryvin blazes like the sun. Red sparks crawl and dance throughout the white glow as the Ebou Dari starts pulling in the flows.
Ryvin makes her saves and embraces the True Source. This might be a Bubble of Evil, and even if it isn't, I think we're going to need our A-game.
Keelix Andren |
I am pretty sure that Keelix has low-light vision from his wolfbrother feats. Also, is the scent of blood present as well?
Keelix's feelings of unease grow steadily as the unnerving sounds echo through the tunnel. Finally as he inspects the mold/blood on the walls, his head snaps around to look at the next person in line.
Reflex Save DC 20: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13.

stephen, litheene, jasmine, and keelix all failed the ref save
vala, stephen, both failed the will save
With a cry of shock at seeing your companions scratchign the walls with razor sharp talons, you jerk away quickly in fear. As you move away your feet catch upon something hidden under the water, but some of you stay on your feet. Others, fall into the murky depths below.
the five that went under break the surface, coughing, gaging, some throwing up. and yet two, stephen and Vala, appear distraught. Bellowing bestial cries, the two draw swords and swing at the closest person to them.
Stephen, using sword form Lizard in the thorn brush, drops to a knee and strikes out at Ryvin.
attack: 1d20 + 18 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 18 + 4 = 23
damage: 2d6 + 11 + 4 ⇒ (5, 3) + 11 + 4 = 23
Vala, using sword from Arc of the moon, draws her sword and swings at Litheene.
attack: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (1) + 16 = 17
damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
wow...i will say that both litheene and Ryvin are incredibly lucky...
Ryvin Altessar |
Ryvin cries out with pain -- and channels. The water around Stephen rises up, gelling slightly, and then roars away from the Ebou Dari, slamming the Armsman against the nearest wall.
Ryvin uses Move Water to push Stephen away from her -- forcefully. Since she can move up to 450 gallons, she should be enough to encapsulate Stephen and get him out of stabbity range, right? ;)
Litheene |
Litheene yells as she gasps for air after breaking free from the water. Is this how they made Trollocs? Where are we?
As she turns about, she barely sees a figure moving towards her. Ducking at the last moment, Vala's blade slides on the wall above her head. She was aiming for my neck But the thought is distant, as Litheene embraces the source and channels without thinking.
Her hand on the Angreal, all memory of Tar Valon above forgotten, Litheene backs to the wall and channels with her full force, freezing the air around Vala to encase her.
Slot 5 + Angreal + Affinity + Over-channel 1 level - harden air, head not included. Level 8, DC 22.
Keelix Andren |
Keelix splutters as he forces his way back to the surface, only to see Stephen and Vala attack Ryvin and Litheen. Keelix moves smoothly back to his feet and places himself between Ryvin and Steven, ready for an attack, and shouting at them as he moves, "What are you doing?! Stop attacking!"
Keelix Andren |
ah...i see someone shouted...excellent.
Why do I have a colossal feeling of doom descending on us now?
Ryvin Altessar |
Round 2
[dice=Will save]1d20 + 3
what did just happened? asked stephen holding his sword with just one hand
"What happened? What happened?!" Ryvin snarls, one hand holding her knife, the other pressed against a bleeding wound. "You stabbed me, is what happened! What in the Pit of Doom is wrong with you, you bastard?!"
Apologies for the rough language; unsolicited stabbings tend to make Ryvin a bit irritable. ^^;

vala ref save vs harden air: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20
will save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
Vala evades the harden air weave, and is amazed to find a massive scratch in the wall beside Litheene, in line with litheene's neck. Sheathing her sword, her look of confusion is enough to tell you that whatever held sway over her is now gone.
A loud crack, followed by several snaps and an audible groan echoes up from the path that you just took. Moments later another rumble is felt, but this time coming from the tunnel up ahead of your location. As it gets closer, an odd rustling sound, kind of liquidy, is heard.
Litheene |
You two where controlled. I am not sure by what.
Litheene focuses on the tunnel, trying to see any inverted weaves.
Weavessight: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (2) + 21 = 23
While keeping her eyes on the dark tunnel ahead, she quickly weaves a simple form with the power Let's try to narrow down what we are dealing with
Sense Shadowspawn, slot 0
RIZZENMAGNUS |
you do not see any inverted weaves
Litheene sends out the weave, and immediately feels the itch associated with sensing shadowspawn.
The rushing noise comes closer, gurgling and lapping. Slowly, it enters the light, revealing itself to be a small wave of water as it flows past your legs.
You do notice, after the wave passed, that the water level is starting to rise...
Ryvin Altessar |
"We need to get out of here!" Ryvin shouts. "Everybody out of the pool!"
The Ebou Dari twists air around herself, weaving an Aeriform Shield to aid in her defence.
Litheene |
Shadowspawn! There are Shadowspawn here! It is not just a pool Litheene declares, weaving further, expanding and changing the flows of the power, trying to form a tight ward against Shadowspawn around the group.
Slot 1 for level 2+1 (kicking out shadow vermin just to be sure)
Ryvin Altessar |
Ryvin channels again, manifesting a dagger of crimson and black flame in her empty hand. "Ready," is all she says.
Provided Ryvin has the time, she multichannels, creating a Weapon of Fire, and ties it off. Composure to multiweave: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (4) + 16 = 20.
Ryvin Altessar |
"Jas, Litheene, either one of you know to weave Move Water?" Ryvin calls. "I can do it if you can't -- but we all need to move and get out of here now."
Ryvin Altessar |
No, I was waiting for others to reply. I really want out of here before we get that deep under. If I may, I'd like to move out out before the water rises further.
"Let's go!" Ryvin says, and she sets off at a measured pace, sloshing through the water, her dagger of flame held before her like a torch.
Keelix Andren |
I am in the back...I am waiting...waiting for others to lead. ;)
Keelix holds his ground until the others begin moving, then he follows them, still guarding the rear.
