Andrais, Tekor and Parsai... Three sister worlds suffering under the constant scourging of Eldar pirates, sniveling Tau Emissaries and a constant undercurrent of mutants and their agitation. These three worlds guard vital supply stations that enable fighting deeper inside the Reach.

The governors of these three worlds have, independently of one another, each requested aid. We have decided to aid them by dispatching the Lux Imperator, with five kill-teams of battle brothers aboard. You will assess the situations, resolve them, and report any findings.

Brother Antoine, of the Chamber of Vigilance.

I'm starting a Deathwatch game, as you may have guessed from the post title. I am looking for up to 8 characters, each created using the standard Deathwatch character creation rules.

You may use material from the core game, and the "First Founding" and "Honor the Chapter" sourcebooks. Any other books, you'd have to buy as PDFs for me first ;)

This recruiting thread will stay open for a week and half (until 2013-06-16). It will not be FCFS, but me trying to build a workable group.

There is still space, as written I'll keep recruitment open until 2013-06-13. As for the CG rules, you can find them here:

OK I'll get my Alias up tonight but he's basically a raptors space marine who's swapped his chainsword and some Signature Wargear points for a stalker pistol.

Alias for Haldhin's submission - Brother Aetheros.

"For the Emperor!"

Alias should be all set.

Adalricus, a veteran of the Tyrannic Wars and a former Scout Sergeant, was seconded to the Deathwatch for his expertise in ambush tactics, knowledge of the Great Devourer, and skills as both a leader and a marksman. Eager to be of maximum utility, he began studying the tactics, formation, missions, and history of the Deathwatch as soon as he arrived at the Watch Station.

Quick questions to GM :

Weapon damage, do you use those in the core rulebook or those of the living errata ?

Also regarding the Sanguinary Priest advanced speciality (first founding).
Under the ability Scion of Sanguinius it says : A Sanguinary Priest possesses this ability in addition to the three Apothecary Special
Abilities listed on page 69 of the Deathwatch rulebook.

I've seen on the forums this issue creep up. Does it mean I have the 3 abilities, or the choice between the three abilities as a normal apothecary ?

Sovereign Court RPG Superstar 2009 Top 32

I use the core rulebook, simply because I am not familiar with any errata or updates.

As for the second question - it seems to me that the intent was to offer an additional ability in addition to the pick normal apothecaries make. The wording is exactly contrary - but this reading would make them quite a bit stronger.

I'm very pleased with the turnout so far. Now, a bit of background never hurt. I don't expect novels, but a few paragraphs (How were you selected for initiation, what were your exploits, ...) would be nice to have. :)

TerraNova wrote:

Here for the Living errata if you wish. The modifications to damage of weapons balances things out. Because as written the bolter is superior to the flamer and plasma by such a margin that the added benefits of the other weapons can't compare. Then again this what I read about, since I never used the core core. Always used the errata version.

TerraNova wrote:

Yeah it is my assumption to that RAI is to give an added benefit but the exact wording is...strange. I guess it comes up to the fact that advanced specialties are selected at the spend XP step which is after selecting the Apothecary special ability.

Just wanted your input on it ! I'll write up the character that way then.

TerraNova wrote:

I worked out my past event (what lead to be selected for Deathwatch). Unto the background next !

After considering what's already on my dance card and vacations and work in the next few months I'm going to respectfully withdraw.

Good luck to all and hope you have fun :)

"Devastators, target the large organisms! Missiles and concentrated heavy bolter fire! Someone get back on that plasma cannon and clear me a path!"

Dashing from cover point to cover point, Sergeant Adalricus ducked and weaved around the exploding bio weapon fire filling the air. The 6 scouts left from his squad fired sniper rounds and tried to cover his tactical withdrawal, but their light weapons simply could not take down the Tyranid lifeforms swarming the trenches.

Just as he expected to be swarmed and consumed, a massive detonation pulped the nearby horde of lifeforms. The scouts previously laid det-pack tore a hole in the swarm. A split second later, an eye-searing beam of energy tore through the tall synapse organism directing the overall attack. Aldaricus spared a moment to glance back, seeing Tynnian, #4 of his Scout squad, duck back behind the earthen revetment with the smoking barrel of the plasma cannon following.

Once the mind of the horde faltered, Sergeant Aldaricus once again seized the initiative, driving the remaining organisms back into the killing field established by Devastator Squad Ultion. For the first time in a week of constant battle, Adalricus took a moment to breath and imagine he would survive the Tyranid swarms of Macragge.

...forward several years...

"Sergeant-Brother Adalricus, you have been examined in mind, body, and spirit, and found strong, true, and pure. Your transport to the Deathwatch Watch Station arrives on the morrow. Congratulations, and may the Primarch watch over you as you bring glory to the Emperor, the Chapter, and yourself." Chapter-Master Calgar, Chief-Librarian Tigurius, and Master of Sanctity Cassius stood facing the relatively young Scout Sergeant. The nodded solemnly, scarred faces and experience-hardened eyes looking over the black-clad Ultramarine.

"Do us proud," the Chapter-Master offered, just as the Sergeant turned and entered the ebon transport waiting to take off.

Alcibaddon Vrusk put down his dog-eared copy of volume 12 of the Encyclopedia Mechanicus, his thoughts, usually ordered and precise as one of the finely-tuned machines that he devoted so much of his life to, a chaotic whirl.

He begin reciting a binary rosary, the familiar strings of nulls and positives guiding his errant thoughts into their familiar rhythms.

He would prove equal to this task. He must. he had no choice. There was an opening in the Deathwatch and he had been chosen to fill it. He would not shame the Dark Angels.

His book under his arm, he strode out of the Omnissiah's Chapel, even as the klaxons belled, announcing that the black ship, Emperor's Vigilance had exited the madness that was the Warp, beginning its final approach to Watch Fortress Erioch.

Camael stared out the window of the strike cruiser, the Sanguine Vengence, looking at the Untorian Space Hulk, designated Charlie-two-two-omega in his records. It was last sighted 50 years ago at the edge of the Doranth system, and appeared to have added a gothic class cruiser to the dorsal area of the hulk. In a few moments it would be time to head to the shuttle bays to depart for the hulk.
